Project Genom Updated New Character Progression and Equipment System

$
0
0

As promised previously, Project Genom finally updated its new character progression and equipment systems.

The new character progression is divided into 12 paths of development. Each path has 6 skills with many nodes that can open new character features. There are also 6 character organism systems: Cardiovascular, Musculoskeletal, Respiratory, Nervous, Immune and Digestive. Each system encompasses a certain set of organs. Each organ can undergo mutation, be replaced with a synthetic analogue or developed to a human level.

Project Genom

Developing an organ along one of the paths allows you to get new organism features. Players should also remember that one may get infected with a disease while exploring the game world or otherwise damage any of the organs. But diseases differ, and while some of them may destroy an organ or affect other organs, certain diseases may help you get new skills. Whether a disease should be cured or not is up to you.

Project Genom

The updated equipment systems use a slot system based on the drag-and-drop mechanics, where the number of slots is limited for every category of items to take the place of a list-like inventory. The inventory can be expanded for a particular category with special points.

The following changes we could expect from Project Genom in the near future:

  • Locations will become several times larger than they are at the moment. The main base will feature new chambers and units.
  • There will be new quest mechanics which will include tasks involving the use of transport, survival skills, time quests and other things. Some quests will split into several directions with 2 or 3 different endings, depending on your choices.
  • Characters will have new motion animation and reaction to being hit; character controls will also alter.
  • New transport will be featured in the game.

It's challenging to find perfect cloak to match your tier sets in World of Warcraft, and some people is more likely to hide their cloaks. However in legion this will be changed since Blizzard is creating matching cloaks for all kinds of Tier 19 armor sets. The tier cloaks come in six colors, corresponding to the four Normal and two Mythic colors, and there are also in different styles. WOWhead has previewed some cloaks from Legion alpha client. let's take a look.

Recommended MMOs to Play in February 2016

$

Blade & Soul swept January's MMO market with over 1 million player number count. The game's Reddit page was one of the most popular game subreddits last month. In February I predict B&S will remain big in the market. On the other hand, Black Desert will start closed beta 2 which is a good thing for February's MMO market.

Blade & Soul

Blade & Soul's western version is catching up with the latest version by releasing content update in a high frequency. This month the game gets the first major update Rising Waters on February 10, which brings new adventure to players who have defeated Poharan, the end-game villain of the launch version.

Players can challenge new max level dungeons Bloodshade Harbor and Nightshade Harbor and battle against new enemies in Blackram pirates, including Poharan's boss, Admiral Hae Mujin. On the other hand, Mushin's Tower floors 1–7 will be available. This is a single-player heroic dungeon that rewards the best players greater prizes.

Other contents in this update:
Hongmoon Level 5
Hongmoon Levels allow you to continue to gain experience beyond level 45, and unlock additional skill points to increase your character’s strength in combat. This update will unlock five Hongmoon Levels immediately upon reaching Level 45.
PvP Preseason
The update will also mark the start of the PvP preseason, with a new in-game UI to see how your skills stack up. You’ll also be able to earn and spend Zen Beans—the Blade & Soul PvP currency—from competing against others. As we move from the preseason to Season 1 in a future update, we’ll have more information on the high-level rewards you’ll be able to earn from dominating your opponents.

Black Desert

Black Desert will start second closed beta on February 18 for owners of Conqueror's and Explorer's packages as well as players who have CBT2 keys. CBT2 will last 5 days but players can expect a lot of changes and new stuff in CBT2. If you've tried the standalone character creation tool (download link) and created some characters, you can import them to the CBT2 version later.

Overwatch

Overwatch closed beta will return this month on February 9. This beta introduces in exciting improvements and new features. First of all a whole new progression system will give you an optimized experience of leveling and unlocking your heroes. There'll be 2 new maps and a new game mode, allowing both old and new players to see the latest work of the developer. What's more, several heroes receive balance.

The beta will first start in NA and EU on February 9 and then in Asia on February 16. If you played the previous CBT, you can continue to play this beta, and new players can sign up at the official site for the chance to join the new round of beta as Blizzard will invite more new players to test the game.

Spellweaver

Spellweaver is a strategy card game that just released as a free-to-play title. The market doesn't lack card game and to be different, Spellweaver focuses on hero progression, with not only level up system but also hero skill development. You can develop your hero to better fit your deck and your overall play style. In terms of the card battle itself, it's deeper than Hearthstone, for it has extra card mechanics Hearthstone doesn't have. For instance, there's creature speed mechanic, where fast creatures allow you to dictate how combat goes, but they have generally weaker stats. Slower creatures are bigger and stronger, but they are also easy to outmaneuver.

Does that mean the game is difficult for new players to play? No. The game is still easy to pick up and hard to master. It stands between Hearthstone and Magic: the Gathering so if you are looking for a layered tactical experience and remain casual, maybe you can give this game a try.

Dragomon Hunter

Dragomon Hunter (western version) is another MMORPG that tries to catch up with the latest version in the world. The game introduces in new class Samurai, an eastern style fighter that harnesses the power of the wind in battle and can equip either a tremendous Katana or a set of ferocious Twin Halberds.

2 new dungeons are added for mid-level and high level players. Additionally, Trial Tower is available for level 50 players. To beat the Tower, you must race against the clock with 15 minutes to clear 20 floors guarded by some of the most savage Dragomon in the game.

Time of Dragons

Time of Dragons sets in a world mixes fantasy with science fiction. 2 races Neils and Atlans are fighting against each other. The gameplay is about riding dragons armed with missiles and lasers to the battle competing other players around the world.

The game aims at accessible experience and fast battle. You can choose from a variety of creatures with unique capabilities and customize your weapons. Like MMOs of the same genre (World of Tanks, War Thunder), Time of Dragons focuses on combat, though it's not perfectly polished at this point. However, the indie developer 4 I Lab promises to release an update every 2 weeks.

The Second Round of Overwatch Closed Beta Will Start Soon

The second round of Overwatchclosed beta will start very soon in America and Europe. Players will be able to experience a ton of new content and features, including a new player progression system, new game mode, new maps, revamped Custom Game options, and a variety of hero balance updates.

With the approaching of the 2nd CBT, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan made a Developers Update to introduce what the Overwatch Team has been working since the Closed Beta went on a break in December.

Overwatch

New Game Mode: Control

In this update, we're introducing a brand new game mode: Control. On Control maps, two teams fight over a series of objective areas in a best-of-three format. When a team is in control of the round's objective area, they will make progress toward capturing it, and whichever team gets to 100% first wins the round. Each round (up to 3 total) will feature a new objective area located in a different part of the map.

Two Control maps are currently available for testing: Lijiang Tower and Nepal.

Overwatch

New Control Map: Lijiang Tower

Lijiang Tower was built in the heart of a modern Chinese metropolis, its busy streets lined with stores, gardens, restaurants, and famous night markets, where foods from around the region are available at all hours. The tower itself is home to one of the leading companies in China's state-of-the-art space industry, Lucheng Interstellar, an organization with a long pioneering history that is currently pushing the boundaries of space exploration.

Overwatch

New Control Map: Nepal

Years ago, a group of omnic robots experienced what they described as a spiritual awakening. They abandoned their preprogrammed lives to establish a monastery high in the Himalayas of Nepal, where like-minded omnics could gather to meditate on the nature of their existence. Led by their spiritual leader, Tekhartha Mondatta, they took over the ruins of an ancient monastery and turned it into the home of the Shambali, a place where omnics and humans alike make pilgrimages in the hopes of finding a greater truth.

EVE Online Skill Trading Launch

$

0

Announced back in October 2015, this new and rather controversial feature of EVE Online will be released today. For those that haven't been keeping up with the news, this is about the Skill Extrator system. Put simply, this allows players to use a cash shop to extract 500,000 of their unallocated skill points and turn them into a skill packet than can then be injected into their other characters, or sold to other players.

This items is mostly meant to allow newer players to catch up with veterans that have been playing for years. And to prevent the veterans from abusing it, players with over 5 million skill points suffer from diminishing returns when using the skill packet, up to the point where it will simply not be worth it.
  • 0 – 5 million skillpoints = 500,000 unallocated skillpoints added
  • 5 – 50 million skillpoints = 400,000 unallocated skillpoints added
  • 50 – 80 million skillpoints = 200,000 unallocated skillpoints added
  • > 80 million skillpoints = 50,000 unallocated skillpoints added
The skill extractors can be puchased from the cash shop for 1000 Aurum, or from the website for $5.49. However, up to February 26th, players that buy a subscription will be awarded free extractors as follows:

Finally, there will also be special launch deals on the purchase of Aurum as follows:

Sacrament Online is an indie MMORPG by Ferocity Unbound Core Studios that has been showing a lot of promise. Meant to be a hardcore "jack-of-old-trades" MMO, with a world split into 20 tiers, world bosses that will require a lot of skill to defeat, and constantly changing instanced dungeons.

The developers released their first teaser video of the title, showcasing landscapes and unfinished character models.
As we push to build this we want to keep you in the loop. This is a LONG process and we don't EVER want anyone to feel like we're not communicating enough (every single day probably won’t happen too often lol). So tell us ways we can keep you involved and make you feel like you’re a part of this overall team!

Blade & Soul - Indestructible, Untradeable Outfits? Is That a Problem?

$
0
0

As you very well know, many of the outfits in Blade & Soul are untradeable and indestructible, but even if they can be destroyed, then there is no way to obtain them again once you delete them.
Premium members have the privilege of putting all their outfits in the wardrobe, whereas free users can only store them in their Bank or inventory. Thus a question arise:

Should it be possible for all players to store at least some outfits to the wardrobe?

For example, the Hongmoon outfit which is the one you start with, the Bamboo Guard or Blackram outfits which are indestructible as well, or any other quest –related outfit which you are unable to obtain again.

All these outfits, are taking up precious inventory space and as your progress through the story, you are going to get many more costumes and at some point you will be forced to destroy some of them in order to store materials and consumables which are much more useful than them.

What is your opinion on that matter? Should NcSoft give all players a fair chance to enjoy their cosmetic content without limiting their characters inventory?

Overwatch Details Loot Boxes and Hero Customizations

$

Blizzard's competitive action shooter Overwatch has implemented a new progression system in for this month's closed beta. Today Blizzard details the new system which includes hero leveling, loot boxes, and customization items.

Progression in Overwatch is based on earning experience and leveling up your account.

Currently, you can gain experience by completing Quick Play and Play vs A.I. games. The amount of experience you earn will be determined by a variety of factors including overall participation, whether or not your team won, what medals and commendations you received, and more. Quick Play games will also award more experience than Play vs A.I. games to account for the difference in difficulty between the two modes.

Each Loot Box contains four random items that can be used to customize the appearance of your heroes and personalize the way you express yourself in-game. Items come in common, rare, epic, and legendary quality levels, and every Loot Box includes at least one rare quality or better item.

Items you can expect to get in loot boxes are:
  • Player Icons – Customize your player profile with an icon reflecting your favorite character, ability, Blizzard game, and more.
  • Skins – Dress for success with new looks for all 21 heroes, including rare color variations and legendary skins such as Safari Winston or Punk Tracer.
  • Emotes – Taunt your enemies and cheer on your allies with a series of new in-game emotes.
  • Sprays – Make your mark on the battlefield with graffiti-like sprays based on heroes, maps, logos, and more (default: T).
  • Voice Lines –  Chat up your fellow players variety of new voice lines available through the communications wheel (default: C).
  • Victory Poses – Strike a pose and tailor how your hero appears in your team’s photo finish.
  • Highlight Intros – Add a little flair to your Plays of the Game with special animated introductions for each hero.

These customization items can only be obtained by leveling up your account for now. Blizzard does admit that they intend to allow you to purchase customization items when the game is released.

Weapon Skins Blade&Soul – Players’ Complains

$
0
0

If you are a Founder and have bought the Founder's Pack, then you should have received you unique weapon skin upon launch. If you already used it as soon as you grabbed your first weapon, then…..

My sincere condolences!

For those who may not know it yet, the weapon skins in Blade&Soul are for
ONE TIME ONLY use,
meaning that once you apply the skin to one weapon, you cannot transfer the appearance to another one, thus forcefully making the weapon skins viable for ONLY ENDGAME weapons which you don’t change often or at all in some cases.

As such, many players who didn’t know that mechanic until it was too late, are now crying over the money they’ve spent. Here are some of their stories of pain:

Hello guys,
I just wanna share with you my "painful" experience today with my exclusive weapon skin (and store  weapon skins in general) so you don't make the same mistake: in BNS the weapon skin from founders pack (and the NC store) are only for use once; if you apply the skin to the weapon and then revert it for whatever reason (as I did today), it will destroy the skin forever.  Of course I found it really frustrating and irrelevant as normally the skin you purchase with real money should be permanent and re-usable (as it is the case in all other games), but apparently BNS and NCSOFT make it an exception.  In other words: Master Founder Pack "Exclusive" weapon skin = one time usage;  1000 NC coin weapon skin = one time usage.   BNS is really a expensive game...wow.

Yeah, that's extremely dumb, i just took mine off assuming it'd just pop it back in my bag like an item.  Don't understand how a $10 item can be a 1 time use like that.  I'm fine with restricting to character but it should work like any other costume function

Are you kidding me?!  I just used mine ~_~

What is your opinion? Should the weapon skins have their own cosmetic slot which applies to all of your weapons?

Crowfall Unveils Its Skill Tree

$
0
0

Last week, Crowfall's developers were sharing a Skill FAQ meant to introduce players to their system that comprises nearly 1,500 skills. Yesterday, they revealed more information about this system during an interview, including detailed explanations regarding the skill tree.

During the interview, they explained the differenced between VIP and Non-VIP players when it comes to training skills: "All players can train one universal and one archetype skill at any one time. VIP players can train one universal skill and three archetype skills at once, but those three must be spread across three different archetypes. We put this rule in place to ensure a level playing field: VIP members can training multiple character types in parallel, giving them more options to play, but not making them train any one archetype faster than a non-VIP member.  In a one-on-one situation, a VIP player and a non-VIP player who started at the same time -- and trained the same skills -- will be perfectly matched."

When asked about their plans regarding the balancing of different archetypes, their reply was: "Let me start with a baseline assumption: "Perfect balance" isn't one of our goals.  We want to create a system where players have the freedom to make meaningful choices, and you can't make meaningful choices unless some branches of the decision tree are more effective than others. Instead, we are balancing to remove outliers -- skills that are simply too powerful, in too many situations.  Our goal is to have different skills impact your effectiveness more (or less) in a large variety of different situations.  Part of the skill of mastering the game (and in this case I mean "your skill, as a player" not a numeric value on your account) is going to be exploring those skill trees and figuring out what works best for you and your play-style."

Motiga Studio announced that du to the current state of their finances, they would be unable to retain the entirety of their staff, leading to a round of layoffs, their second on since last December when they laid off 16 staff members.

While we intend to continue supporting Gigantic game services for as long as we are able, the reality is that a decision of this magnitude will impact all departments across the studio, an impact that will be felt by our community of beta testers as the services they depend on will operate without the key staff on hand to support those services.

While the studio assures that this is only temporary and that they are still in negotiation with their investors to rehire these staff members, things aren't exactly looking promising, and we can only hope that these employees get back to their feet soon.

Nintendo's new Miitomo social app sign-up goes live February 17, and it looks to champion Nintendo's typical cute stylings. The app is based around conversations and question and answer-type activities which you can participate in with your friends.

You can make a Mii avatar and they represent you in the game. Although the app itself won't release for Android and iOS until March, signing up early will net you an early sign-up bonus and send you a reminder when the app goes live. Miitomo will also tie into the new My Nintendo rewards program, Nintendo's replacement of Club Nintendo.
