Clash Royale New Balance Change Live on April 1st

New balance changes comes to Clash Royale on April 1st.

Tombstone: Name changed to Giant Tombstone, spawns Giant Skeletons

We felt like Clash Royale was missing one key ingredient for bigger success: A bigger Tombstone. We scaled up the art and loved what we saw! But, it was still missing something: Bigger Skeletons... Giant Skeletons! Nailed it.

Mortar: Now shoots Goblin Barrels

Goblin Barrel's use rate is quite low at the top and we've really missed watching it soar majestically across the Arena in TV Royale. Our first thought was to give it some subtle and well-thought-out buffs, but then we were like, "Heck, we can do better... Let's just load up the Mortar with Goblin Barrels!?" Now we're seeing them all over the show, and it's magical in the Arena once again.

X-Bow: Targets EVERYTHING (including your own troops, towers and king)

X-Bow too stronk.

After having officially announced that they would be dropping the development of Everquest Next in favor of Landmark, it would seem that they are sticking to their words this time, providing over a hundred of bug-fixes and gameplay improvements in a single patch.

Most of the fixes were related to the UI, while the economy features benefited the most from gameplay improvements, namely with rebalanced Lumen rewards and decreased recipe costs.

The complete list can be found here.

The developers also announced that due to all the above changes, a character and build wipe would be required at launch, with all marketplace purchases being refunded in Lumens.

Mobile Game Review: Dragon Blade "Faction ARPG, with MOBA element"

Dragon Blade - Realtime PK War
"A fantastice Player Killing, Quick Leveling ARPG - focused on faction MOBA style Real-Time battles."

Gameplay
We are close to perfecting Mobile ARPGs. You can call it an MMO, but majority of the game is focused on single player leveling and questing. Once you understand the layout, you can see they placed these various tasks to keep you coming back. These payouts are small, but sticking to it will keep you at the top of the fighting curve. Once lvl 25, interaction with your legion (guild) becomes a priority. They call this game Dragon Sword PK for the amount of player killing you get to do. Open PVP areas like the Palace are a Free-For-All; alliance vs alliance brawl. If you're caught alone you're going to die, if you don't have a buddy you're going to die.

Skipping past the leveling process, you'll find features that provide additional entertainment. You can purchase a Harem and focus on stealing the enemy's women. You can trade with other alliances, or build your own economy. Each action does provide a payoff to your hero strength and leveling. In-game, you have full control over your hero. With 4 abilities and an auto-attack, you must chain your combos to charge your ultimate.

You can posses any number of heroes, but only focusing on three with provide maximum combat power (for questing). Pick a main hero to keep at max upgrades, this will ensure your on even playing grounds in the arena or leaving the safe zone. Although you can rotate through any hero in your 3 person team, there is a small cooldown between activation, and you cannot switch during combat. The arena isn't PVP, but there are plenty of areas for PK, as well as MOBA maps when you hit lvl 25.

Creativity
Mobile RPGs have generated this hybrid genre, that allows all the aspects of a MMO, but without an open world. At first, I was reluctant to accept how quickly these games could be created, since they don't have to create a beautiful - unique 3D world. But in a certain way, they did. Each zone in Dragon Blade, is a completely different area. The cut and paste feel, you normally encounter while playing a Mobile RPG is gone. You have dynamic enemies that change, various environments, but my favorite part is the mini-boss in each level.

Dragon Blades success is based on an active community, so we will see how it stands up in the next month without any advertising. Keeping it close to the standard “blocky” engine we see in most Mobile RPGs, you also don't get many customization options. The armor and upgrades don't reflect on your character, so I would hope to see frequent releases of new heroes and quests. Keeping a good relationship with their community, you see any hate on social media. There is a clone facebook page, selling a hack. So please don't be ignorant to the .ru Web Page when searching for the DragonBlade facebook.

Two things I’ve found that are dragging this game back. The first, is the small bugs they still haven't worked out (after 4 months live.) I've encountered a couple missions where my screen wouldn’t refresh properly, as well. It has to be a server issues, because the notifications sometimes have the same issue with refreshing after completion. The second issue is the Big One, and I’m seeing more and more mobile games pull this crap. That logo on the side of your screen, that promotes their sister company. Not only is it distracting, but it also gets in the way. This might be the dealbreaker for me, accidently clicking on it - even during combat! Wow developers, you really let them (Your Partners) screw you over on that one, and could cause your game to fail.

Value
Dragon Blade was hard to judge when it came to finding the store value. Purchasing VIP status speeds up your Gameplay, and purchasing ingots allows you only treasure chest draws. Ultimately, it came down to figuring out the maximum value of store purchases to achieve a (5-star) hero or higher. On an average of 100 players I've encountered, VIP 5 was the most regular achievement. Other than that, you would see around 1/10 having a random VIP status and the rest having none.

VIP 5 cost you 20 USD, and gives you unlimited play time. This is obviously the recommended avenue, seeing the constant store pop ups and notifications. Without a VIP status, you can still play competitively. Knowing how to maximize your playtime will ensure your character level can compete with the Supercells(gamers that enjoy Paying-To-Win). Since we have an option to achieve a higher VIP status than 5, I unfortunately have to rate Dragon Blade and Free-To-Download. I haven't encountered too many people of a higher VIP status than 5, but that might just be a level gap issue.

Drawing from the Wine Urns seemed pretty fair in value. The Decade Wine only gives you one random item. The Century Wine, has a fairly good change for hero cards. Aged Wine has the highest change to collect a hero card, and of a three star level or higher value. Collecting heroes from here can be done, but it'll cost you a lot of draws (and ingots). This method prevents people from stacking one character, but allows them to collect a higher quantity of heroes. There’s still a chance they will draw a hero of higher star value, but leveling that hero will take a lot of time and only give them a slight edge. Aside from the bugs, and the unkillable popup on the right side of the screen - this game still amazingly makes a:

Clash Royale: Supercell’s New Cash Cow Game

$

Supercell, creators of the popular mobile games Clash of Clans and Boom Beach have come out with another popular game for the ios and android platforms. The 5.5 billion dollar company is dominating the mobile market through genius marketing techniques and fun gameplay designs. Clash Royale has topped the App store charts in 44 countries and doesn’t look like the game is slowing down anytime soon. Master of microtransactions, the Supercell team has copied their previous game models to encourage in-game transactions to expedite the leveling process and ensure that those who pay more will win more. So that’s why I’ve decided to create some beginner guides for those who don’t want to shell out money, and want to enjoy the game as free to play model.

I’ve recently just downloaded this game and to be honest, I’ve found it really hard to not make in-game purchases. Like all of Supercell’s games, they have a genius marketing strategy that gets the consumer to inevitably make in-game purchases. To achieve this, they give the consumer “just enough” free-to-play content to get them hooked.  Once addicted, the user will realize how difficult it is to progress within the game without purchasing Supercell’s in-game currencies. In Clash Royale, they do this by awarding the user various chests that contain myriad items like gold, cards, and gems. The hitch though, is that each chest takes an extremely long time to open. For instance, silver chests take 3 real-time hours to unlock and gold chests take 8 real-time hours to unlock. Of course, this could always be expedited with gems; Supercell’s ingenious in-game currency for all its games, which allows the user to instantaneously finish processes which would normally take hours for those who want to play the game for free.

The key to avoiding micro transactions is patience. Once you’ve loaded up your que of chests (the max amount of chests you can have is four), stop playing and start waiting for the timers to expire. While this isn’t necessary in the first few stages of the game Arena 1-2, you’ll find it increasingly difficult to progress in the later stages without specific cards. Like all Supercell games, you have to treat it as a “game on the go” and avoid initial impulses to purchase in game currency. Playing this game like it’s a “normal game” (all content is unlocked after purchase) can be very expensive, so once you’ve maxed the chest que out, put the phone/tablet down and pick it back up in couple hours after you’ve done some stuff with your life!

Once you have a good understanding of the game, it's time to join a Legion. Anytime you see the yellow (Strengthen) up arrow on your home screen, it’s a good indication you might need some leveling. The closer the bars are to hitting 100%, the better you are with micromanaging your team. I’d recommend choosing a team composition with a healer, and a tank when attacking the main quests. Once you hit lvl 22, the game slows down quite a bit. That's the time where you can focus on exactly how you’d like you team set up, and finalize your main hero.

Blizzard CEO: StarCraft's Complex Strategic Plays Hard for AlphaGo to Imitate

Blizzard's CEO Mike Morhaime has just commented on the rumored competition between human and AlphaGo over StarCraft. He said "a Starcraft showdown between humans and AI itself will be interesting," while he also admitted that whether the match would happen was to be confirmed.

However, he did share his opinions on the possible showdown. "Starcraft is a fairly strategic game with depth. Though it will not be easy for an AI program to imitate the state-of-the-art strategic plays of professional gamers, they may go beyond humans in the future in the game once they are improved enough," he said. Morhaime also believed that the AI program's capabilities on how fast it can input orders should be limited for a fair competition in strategy game.

It would seem that Carbine is still not fully satisfied with the WildStar tutorials, despite the fact that they were updated quite recently. Indeed, they have made some new changes, apparently to make them focus on making WildStar more unique and at the same time prepare the players for what awaits them on Nexus.

And this does not stop there. They are offering different rewards to players that will create characters on the PTR server to test the Exiles and Dominion tutorials on  April 6.

Simply roaming the world and trying out the tutorials will be enough to earn te rewards, although reports regarding all signs of bugs and other unwanted elements will be appreciated.

Trion released a new Devilian producer's letter for the month of April, highlighting the different changes introduced in March (Tempest class, level cap raised to 54, etc), and giving readers a sneak peek at what is soon to be introduced.

The first changes mentioned relates to the soon to arrive spring event that will allow players to get more involved between love story between Antwan and Belle, with a number of spring themed rewards, including costumes, being available.

Other notable changes include the introduction of demon imps, a pet fusion feature, as well as the announcement of upcoming mega servers.

Finally, the PvP scene of the game will also see a number of updates, meant to provide more balance and PvP options to players.

Speaking of PVP, one of the reasons for long queues is the variety of gameplay modeswe have in the game. Players who want to PVP are being split into multiple different game types, resulting in a match not filling as fast as it could be. To help this, we have changes coming to Depraved Temple (6 vs 6). Thisbattle will be moved to a weekly event and will not be accessible from the queue. A new icon will appear next to your health bar when Depraved Temple is available, and clicking this will automatically place you into a Depraved Temple match. We are also lowering the entry requirements to join this event.
