Runescape's NXT Game Client Released

0
0

Released back in 2001, Runescape is a Fantasy MMO that truly evolved throughout the last 15 years. Multiple graphical and engine updates later, and after going through the Runescape 3 overhaul, the title is still pretty active with a decently sized community.

The NXT game client marks a new milestone in the continuous development of the game.

This means better RuneScape performance than ever before, and it looks great too – vast viewing distances, dynamic shadows and beautiful lighting effects.

To celebrate, embark on Benedict's World Tour: a globe-trotting mini-adventure that's perfect for taking in the sights.

NXT is designed to get the most out of your hardware, looks fantastic and runs smoothly across the board.

If you've been looking for a reason to give Runescape a spin, or return to the lands Gielinor in the case of veterans, you've got one!

Supergiant Games is Bringing Party-based RPG Pyre to PAX East

0
0
Supergiant Games, makers of the widely popular Bastion and Transistor games has recently announced that they are bringing their upcoming game: Pyre, to PAX East this year. Known for their ascetically pleasing game design, Supergiant looks like it has modeled Pyre much like its two previous iterations. Beautiful artwork coalesced with a mellifluous soundtrack is what made me fall in love with Bastion and Transistor, and it looks like Pyre brings that to the table, plus more. Unlike the previous two games, Pyre is going to be a party-based role-playing game, opposed to the traditional single character, RPG experience.

Superb narrative discourse is another core feature that the Supergiant team brings to their games. And what we know so far about Pyre is that “you lead a band of exiles through an ancient competition spread across a vast, mystical purgatory.” Supergiant’s “against-big-establishment” ideology seems to continue in this game, as you “lead a band of exiles” through a “mystical purgatory.” I don’t about you, but that seems amazing, and by looking at the reveal trailer, Supergiant looks like it has improved every facet of an already impressive game catalogue with the addition of Pyre.

Pyre will be available in 2017 for the PC and PS4 and if you want to learn more about the game, you can visit their website here

Blizzard Announces Release Date for Hearthstone Whispers of the Old Gods

0
0
Earlier today, Blizzard announced that  their upcoming expansion: Whispers of the Old Gods will be playable next Tuesday, April 26, in North America and Europe, and will playable on the 27th in Asia. With 134 new cards to be released, this is Hearthstones 3rd major expansion, with Goblin vs Gnomes being the first and The Grand Tournament being the latter.

In addition to the expansion, Hearthstone will be implementing two new ranked-game formats: Standard and Wild. Standard, Hearthstones take on a season mode, will only allow the basic card set plus any cards released in the last two calendar seasons. So that means when this expansion launches, the card sets from the Adventure mode: Curse of Naxxramas and the expansion: Goblins vs Gnomes will no longer be available for Standard mode. The Wild format, like you’ve probably already guessed, will allow all cards released at all times to be played. The downside to this mode is that if you want to play professionally, the Wild format bears no significance in the global rankings.

Polygon reports that later this week, Blizzard will be hosting a stream on its Twitch channel to reveal more content. This is interesting because it coincides with the upcoming PAX East convention, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the livestream event took place there. Like always, Blizzard does excellent job hyping up its products, and PAX East provides an excellent platform to showcase their games.

You can still pre-purchase a fifty pack of Whispers of the Old Gods for discounted fifty-dollars, which also includes a limited edition card back. Or, like always, new packs can purchased with the in-game currency of 100 gold per pack. So, if you’re like me, you’ve stockpiled your gold to unload it for an event just like this!

Samurai Rising is Square Enix’s Fantasy-ish Action RPG Mobile Game

0

Last week, we reported Square Enix teased a wave of mobile game, and one of them is Project: RISING, which is actually apparently the code name for the upcoming free to play RPG Samurai Rising. The game is an action RPG featuring Fantasy-ish characters and hack & slash gameplay. In addition, you can also find the potentially party system in the trailer, so we have reasons to believe that it will be a multiplayer game.

Samurai Rising is scheduled to launch in Japan in spring 2016, and western release might be later, but we can’t find any mention now. If you are interested to try out the Japanese version, please join the pre-registration event here.

Blizzard is Primed for a Big PAX East Showing

With PAX East just around the corner, Blizzard has yet again, stirred up a bunch of publicity right before the event. There isn’t another company that I can think of, other than Apple, that does a better job at getting their fan bases excited for new products. With several large announcements this week, it looks like PAX East is going to be very interesting for the company based out of Irvine California.

PAXEast2016-ForTheWatch_OW_Social_JP_960x480.png

Their main showing or "crème de la crème" product is going to be Overwatch. With it recently coming out of a massive open beta weekend, and its impending release, in a little over a month, the Overwatch team will be very busy this weekend. This year at PAX, Overwatch will be one of the main events, as a tournament dubbed as “the grudge match of the century” will be played by the PAX founders (doppelgangers) Gabriel and Tycho. The main event will be played at 6:30PM on April 23rd at the Boston convention center and it can also be viewed live on their live Twitch channel here.

Hearthstone, Blizzards multi-billion dollar cash cow, should also stir up some publicity this weekend as they have just announced the release date of their upcoming expansion: Whispers of the Old Gods. Slated for next Tuesday 4/26, the new expansion will be brining 134 new cards with two new formats: Standard and Wild.

Most importantly, it’s reported that Hearthstone will be hosting a Twitch live-stream event this weekend and if history proves correct, they will announce an expansion related event for Whispers of the Old Gods. Perhaps, Whispers of the Old Gods will be available in the Arena, much like they did with GvG, or perhaps made available in Tavern Brawl, like they did with TGT. But knowing Team-5, they probably will have their own special event, catered specifically to this expansion.

Heroes of the Storm, Blizzards wildly fun and unique MOBA, is yet another game that will cast a big shadow at the Boston based, convention center. The recent announcement of the playable hero: Tracer, was announced today and will only be available this week for those who have pre-purchased Overwatch: Origins Edition. If you haven’t purchased Overwatch, then you’ll have to wait until 4/26 to play her, but if you’re like me, you’ll be too busy with Hearthstone to even care!

With so much stirring around Blizzard just a few days before a major videogame convention, there is most likely going to be another major announcement during this year’s PAX East Expo. With the limelight squarely on them, Blizzard is bound to drop a bomb and excite its fan base, like it has regularly done in the past. Make sure to stay posted with 2p.com because will be covering anything that’s announced at the upcoming PAX East Expo.

Suda51's Let It Die Will be at PAX East 2016

0

Grasshopper Manufacture, apparently the creators of games called Lollipop Chainsaw and Frog Minutes, recently announced that they will be at PAX East this year showing off their free-to-play survival action game, Let It Die.

If you didn’t already think that the myriad of survival based games was enough, well then, here’s another one for you as it seems that Let It Die combines two elements to a game that I personally don’t want to see: free-to-play and grim reapers with skateboards. As a gamer, whenever F2P is advertised in a game, I’m usually not interested as it will be inundated with microtransactions and those who pay-the-most, usually win-the-most.

That being said, the Japanese based company seems to have made another game I will not be able to play at night. As the graphics don’t look too bad, and the NPC’s look scary as shit; kind of like a coalition of Resident Evil meets DayZ. It looks like a 10 on the graphic violence scale, and if you like dudes in their underwear, wielding big swords, make sure to check this game out!
As a PS4 exclusive, the game will be playable for anyone attending the Boston Expo, all you’ll have to do is just head over to booth #8116 to check it out.

Season 25 Deck Guide: Biood's Top 30 Healblade Warrior

0
0

It has been a while since I’ve done a Hearthstone deck guide. Despondency had overwhelmed me due to overplaying the game and the lack of deck diversity on ladder. Like always though, Blizzard hooked me back in with the news of the release of the upcoming expansion: Whispers of the Old Gods. Over the weekend, I’ve had to travel to Massachusetts from New Jersey (4-6 hour drive) and I was able to get some games in thanks to my lovely girlfriend chauffeuring me there and back. Since I had a lot of time to kill, I scoured the internet in search of an indestructible control deck to play. And after searching for over 20 seconds, I found it; an extremely slow control warrior deck that has an incredible win percentage. The German streamer Biood, created this deck and got into the top 30 on the EU ladder with a seventy percent win rate! So if you’ve got 20-30 mins to kill per game, and want a high win-percentage, then this is the deck for you!

How to Play:

Like most Warrior decks, the key to success is to outlast the opponent. Over the past few seasons, Warrior decks have slowly evolved into what we see today, which is less taunt and high-costed minions, and more spells and removal. More than half of this deck consists of spell cards and if you include the weapons, 21 out of 30 of the cards are not minions. Right now you must be thinking: but Joe, how can you actually win games without minions? Well my dear reader, it’s simple, this deck takes full advantage of Elise Starseeker more than any other deck I’ve seen to date. With a plethora of removal and nine AoE spells, you’ll find that this deck is actually geared towards survival and that getting to the late game is easier than you’d think. Removal in the early game is crucial for a smoother mid-late game transition. Depending on the archetype you’re going up against, you’ll usually want to hold onto AoE spells for big clears and use the individual removals, like Bash, Execute, and Shield Slam, for those harder to kill minions. By the time you get the mid-stages of the match, the board should be relatively clear and you should be ready to start setting up the pieces for late game. Cards that help transition to the late game are Shieldmaiden, Justicar Trueheart, and Dr. Boom. Knowing when to use theGolden Monkey is one of the trickier aspects of using this deck. Essentially the GM should be used when you are depleted of all removal cards. Using the GM too soon could stymie your deck because there are no guarantees of attaining the right cards. Holding on to cards like Brawl, and Execute is essential to remove larger late game minions. Additionally, Starseeker has become a more popular card the last few seasons and it always advantageous to drop the GM second because you’ll have more control over your own deck, opposed to the opponents random conglomeration.

Key Cards:

Baron Geddon: This is one of the complex cards to use in this deck because if it isn’t played correctly, you can quickly lose the game. When timed right, and played correctly, Baron Geddoncan single handedly win the match. 2-damage AoE plus a 7-5 body makes Geddon a force to be reckoned with and in the late stages of the game, this card is usually a game winner when going up against aggro/mid-range decks.

Shieldmaiden: A 5/5 body that gives the hero five health and it only cost six mana. It’s a great card and it can almost always be dropped. If you wait until turn-6 you can combine it with Shield Slam to garner a huge tempo-swing. Unfortunately, when the new expansion comes out, this fantastic card will no longer be available. Sure, you can use it in “Wild” mode, but who cares about that mode when it’s not even recognized professionally; the Shieldmaidenis gone with Whispers of the Old Gods, rest in peace malady.

Justicar Trueheart: Luckily, Ms. Trueheart isn’t leaving our decks anytime soon thanks to its recent release in The Grand Tournament. Once Trueheart is dropped it almost always feels like you’ve won the match; like come on, 4-armor for 2-mana, forever?! The thing is though, is that this fine lady usually can’t be dropped unless the board is clear or you already have a sufficient stockpile of armor already built up. If the board isn’t mostly clear than you are leaving a huge opening for the opponent too late in the game and risk losing too much tempo. But if you do drop her on an empty board, its game-set-match.

Elise Starseeker: The reason this deck doesn’t need a bunch of minions is because Elise Starseeker will provide you with a plethora of insanely strong ones late in the game. By the time that the Golden Monkey actually gets to be played, it will usually be very late in the game. Traditionally, you’ll have around 10-15 cards left (including the ones in your hand), so you’ve already had a couple of 10-mana turns. Like I’ve already iterated above, timing is everything with the GM and misjudging its use can sometimes be worse than never using it at all!

Gorehowl: Because this deck is so adept at garnering additional armor, using the Gorehowlto clear larger minions is essential. The ability to clear multiple minions in the later stages of the game is crucial for control and midrange deck matchups. Additionally, the ability to do 7-damage to the opponent can help burst them down with the right combination of cards. This card is so good in this deck that if you’re going up against multiple control decks on ladder, two Gorehowl’s might be feasible.

Possible Replacements:

-1 Antique Healbot +1 Sludge Belcher: The Antique Healbot is a very good card for when you are in precarious situations but when you have 20-30 armor and full-life, the card just seems to waste away. Adding one Sludge Belcher will help stymie the opponent while also allowing you to set up the subsequent turn.

-1 Bouncing Blades +1 Deathlord: Like the Anitque Healbot, having two Bouncing Blades is usually overkill. Bouncing Blades is a very situational card because it can kill ANY minion on the board, and not just the opponents. It specializes in removing stealth minions and is a great single-target-killer in the later stages of the game. Unlike Bouncing Blades, the Deathlord helps against faster decks and has really become a staple card for many control decks because its “negative” effect is not as bad as it was previously perceived. The Grand Tournament created many battlecry minions and the expansion has helped the card effect by adding key tech-cards with the expansion. So when the Deathlord’s deathrattle affect triggers, giving the opponent a map-less Elise Starseeker or a useless Justicar, its effect actually becomes advantageous in certain matchups.

-1 Dr.Boom +1 Reno Jackson: Since Dr. Boom isn’t long for this world, replacing him with Reno Jackson might actually work. The fatigue warrior always goes the distance and since you’re usually down to only a handful of cards at the end of games, Reno can just be another tool to outlast the opponent in a battle of the card-less!

Additional Notes:

In summary, this a great deck to climb with if time is not an issue. In my case, 10-12 hours on the road justified my cause and if you are in the mood to bunker down for a Hearthstone marathon, then I suggest checking this out. All things Biood could be found here, and if you are feeling generous check out my blog at gssguy.com where I talk about a myriad of subject matters.

This desire to survive will be accentuated by the fact that the game posseses a permadeath feature. Once you're infected, its game over.

The game is now available on the Steam platform, with a 10% discount that will last until April 26.

The SKIES Patch Introduces A Safe Zone for New Players

0
0

Just a couple of days following the start of its Steam Early Access program, The SKIES has received a new patch that added a safe zone for new players. This zone covers about 25% of the area of the game, and while it does not protect players from mobs, it does protect them from other players.

Due to demand of safer life for Waste’s newcomers, new law has been introduced around Kimary. No player killing in city surroundings is allowed, and all citizens and guests get a free map with safety zone marked. Do not expect ‘cease fire’ or ‘cease fangs’ from raiders or dogs – Kimary mayor has no authority on them. Die-hard warriors still can test their luck and steady aim when going deeper into wasteland. Flag capturing is still a bloody business.

In addition to this, the patch also included some bug fixes, balance improvements, etc. Follow this link for the full patch notes.

IMC Banned over 3000 Accounts for Tree of Savior

0
0

Note to Tree of Savior cheaters: stop using the bot or exploiting the game client or your account will be banned as IMC Games is very serious with the cheaters. They announced on the forum that 1,394 bot accounts as well as the additional 1,678 accounts that have manipulated the game client for exploiting purposes have been banned permanently! In addition, the Founders Server: Exclusive Access 3 product has been temporarily taken down until the bot issue is handled properly.

If you are curious about how they detected bots or deal with the bot reports, they are actually using bot report function called “report influence index”.

“If a user is reported repeatedly by others, that user is very likely to be a bot. In addition, if the reporter is an influential individual, their report is most likely valid so we can set a priority on which account to ban first. This is where the Report Influence Index (RII) comes in. In terms of numbers, a player with 10 RII has the same impact as 10 different players with 1 RII each when reporting suspicious users. Accounts with high report counts will then move to the next step of verification. Some have suggested using CAPTCHA, but that too, will be breached eventually. It puts needless restrictions on the players, so we are not considering its use. Instead, what we chose to use is a server-side classifier based on Machine Learning (ML) technique.

“The classifier uses the comprehensive activity log of a reported account to determine if it’s a bot in percentages. We will not be revealing the classifier’s exact mechanism, as it can be manipulated by violators to bypass the system. We train our classifier by constantly inputting new data. The fact that we can maintain its accuracy is its advantage, because we’re going to manually determine which factors should be considered to identify bots. The classifier’s accuracy depends on how we determine the behavior criteria, and we examine over 20 basic criteria. The machine showed 99% accuracy on our Korean server when we set the machine to output fewer false positives. If we set strictness value low, the classifier will detect more bot with lower accuracy and vice versa.

Hearthstone Reveals Major Card Nerfs for Upcoming Patch 5.0

0
0

With Whispers of the Old Gods expansion just around the corner, Blizzard has decided to implement a swath of balance changes to some of its original cards. With a new competitive format being introduced: Standard; cards that have been released in the last two calendar seasons will be removed from professional play. That means when Whispers of the Old Gods arrives, the older expansions like Goblins vs Gnomes and The Curse of Naxxramas will be annexed. This will ultimately help create a constantly changing meta, while also preventing the game to become stale due to the over-powering strength of a few minority cards. The only cards that will be exempt from this constantly changing format are the Basic and Classic card sets. Blizzard feels that these sets help make up the skeletal architecture that is Hearthstone itself, so instead of banishing them all with the advent of new expansions, they have decided to just alter several cards that could become problematic in future releases.

Ancient of Lore:

The Druid class got hit the hardest with nerf bat as 25% of all the nerfed cards were Druid Basics. And it all starts with the Ancient of Lore, by reducing the amount of cards this minion can draw Team-5 has essentially eliminated this card from play. The Azure Drake is a much better value and we might actually start seeing Nourish played more often. Ultimately though, I’d say dust this sucker as 400-dust is worth more than owning this card.

Force of Nature

Nerfing Savage Roar was not enough, as Team-5 ultimately decided that the Force of Nature/Savage Roar combo was just too strong going forward. Five mana to summon three 2/2 Treants that don’t die, isn’t the worst proposition either, and I could see this card being used differently. Don’t dust this card just yet, Whispers of the Old Gods might allow it to serve a different purpose.

Keeper of the Grove

I would consider this a “minor” nerf. Reducing Keeper of the Grove’s health by two isn’t going to make this card unplayable. The reason this card is so popular is because of its dual effect of doing either damage or silencing a minion. Overall, this card should see just as much play and if you’re the proud owner of one, make sure to keep it because silence cards are starting to become more of a rarity these days.

Ironbeak Owl

Not really that harsh of a nerf; it definitely makes the Spellbreaker more intriguing, but as a common card, I would still hold on to it.

Big Game Hunter

Blizzard has stated that “some removal cards” are “simply too powerful” and that by weakening some overly played removal cards will “help make cards with high attack or cool effects more interesting” to play. This statement is essentially the epitome of the BGH, and in my opinion, this was the most needed nerf in the game. By adding two- mana to this card, they’ve essentially helped the present and posterity of all cards. Bygone are the days of heartbreaking tempo swings, as we can now look forward to a day where awesome cards will reign supreme!

Hunter's Mark

This is additional proof of Blizzard’s effort in strengthening Hunter-control decks. Over the past few expansions cards like Gahz’rilla, Dreadscale and Acidmaw have slowly ameliorated the stigma surrounding the Hunter class as being an “aggro-only” type of class. While it’s not quite there yet, I could see in the near future this class having the capabilities to go toe-to-toe with other stout control archetypes.

Blade Flurry

One of the main reasons the Rogue class is so unpopular is because its best deck archetypes don’t play minions. Most Rogue decks thrive off of huge combo-plays at the end of matches after an entire game of not playing anything. This isn’t fun for the opponent, and when I’m playing these decks, it isn’t fun for me. Bumping up the mana cost of one of the Rogues strongest cards has seriously affected some of its best combos and hopefully this will encourage more minion play from the class.

Knife Juggler

This is one of the most sneaky and significant nerfs so far. By simply reducing the Knife Juggler’s attack by one, Blizzard has made playing this card exponentially more risky. One of the best aspects of this card is that it can trade with cards it has no business trading with. The 2-attack brings this card back to earth, making trades more difficult and reducing its overall effectiveness. Team-5 definitely got this one right, as they haven’t destroyed this card while also making it less effective at the same time.

Leper Gnome

No one likes playing against Face Hunter. Team-5 understands our feeling of angst when we know there is just nothing we can do to slow down the unremitting onslaught of damage that the Face Hunter can unleash. The Leper Gnome is dead, R.I.P little guy.

Arcane Golem

Bye-bye Face Hunter. The Leper Gnome nerf pales in comparison to the atrocity that was committed to the Arcane Golem. Giving the opponent a mana crystal for what it provides is just too much; yes, it got an additional 2-health, but for the cost, I’d rather play anything else. Dust it. Dust it. DUST IT!

Molten Giant

Hallelujah! As an avid and active Handlock racist, I fully support any measures to weaken that lurid deck. I’m sure they will be given other tools to succeed, and I’m sure no one is going to shed a tear over this one. For 400-dust, I’ll probably dust it.

Master of Disguise

Like the Hunter’s Mark nerf, this seems like it is a preemptive nerf for future expansions. Personally, I haven’t seen much of this card, but who’s to say that it won’t break the game two expansions from now?

Lore about Jing Wei

Against the red rising sun, a winged form sweeps out to sea, claw clutched around a pebble. With focused grit, she hurls the small stone into the watery maw, circling above as it sinks into darkness. Resolved, she turns back to collect another. Jing Wei will not cease until the ocean is filled. That is her oath. And she will not break an oath.

Once, she was a young girl, a princess, enamored by the glory of the morning light. She gazed in wonder as her father, Yan Di, the Flame Emperor, shepherded the sun from the eastern sea. Desperately, she longed to reach the place where it emerged, but her father refused take her on the waters.

One night, the princess sailed out alone, secretly hoping for a clear view come the dawn. But the waters were churning in a storm. Mountainous waves crashed into her tiny ship. The sea swallowed her whole.

Yan Di woke and coaxed the sun from the horizon, only to find the shattered remains of his daughter's boat upon the shore.

Yet, even as he grieved, a bright goddess burst from the ocean and soared overhead. "Jingwei!" she cried, and Yan Di knew his daughter was reborn.

Though given a second chance that day, Jing Wei swore an oath against the seas that took her life. She would fill them with stone until they were gone. An impossible task. But Jing Wei swore an oath. And Jing Wei will not break an oath.
