In China, tales of Journey to the West have been passed down the generations and celebrated in various forms from folklores and traditional shadow play to modern-day video games.Fantasy Westward Journey At Your Fingertips, the documentary for Fantasy Westward Journey, is created to carry on the cultural legacy and to connect the audience with classics in exciting new ways.

To ensure the highest aesthetics and creativity, the Fantasy Westward JourneyDivision retained Liu Yile of A Bite of China as the director for the documentary. Liu deployed Chinese shadow play as an artistic medium to explore the innovative possibilities of the classics. The division is passionate about reworking the classics through reimagined story lines and the latest gaming technologies.

Through focusing on the gaming rendition of Journey to the West, FantasyWestward JourneyAt Your Fingertips also reflects a collective journey of inheriting and carrying forward Chinese cultural legacies, which is a continuous celebration and reinterpretation of the classics through exciting new venues that are liberated from any set format. "By watching this video, we hope you could learn about our respect toward the classics and our passion in making the classics relevant in today's world," says NetEase Games.

Dark and Light: Early Access is On the Way

Since the announcement of Dark and Light (DnL) at ChinaJoy 2016, I have been keeping my eyes on the open world fantasy game. According to the official announcement the early access will be available on Steam by the end of this year. And today I saw a post on tieba, Chinese reddit, unveiled that the DnL related file has already been uploaded on Steam and is now under review.

In an recent DnL community Q&A, Horsejoke revealed more details about the upcoming game. Players will be able to build a “player town” without a lengthy process to apply for a zoning permit from your faction’s slowest bureaucrats. What’s more, beasts of burden will play an important part in the game, the larger the animal, the more it will be able carry.

As for the most controversial PvP & PvP servers, Horsejoke told us that if ganking becomes too much of an issue on PvP servers even for hardcore PvP players, however, they may need to look into additional restrictions / penalties.

We knew there will be some of underwater contents in DnL, but the ocean-based combat isn’t something they’ve put a lot of consideration. However, the air combat is definitely possible with offensive flying mounts like griffins and dragons.

Also, the Chinese players may have the access to the same servers as players in the west. So maybe we can except a global server?

Nexonjust recently released the Official Trailer forPeria Chronicles~! The video shows off many of the deatiled and cellshaded features that the game withholds.

>> See more new games at 2P's G-STAR 2016 feature

The trailer starts out with the advertised blonde girl investigating a ruin. This could foreshadow for what's to come in the near future lore-wise. As the trailer goes on it shows you general gameplay that may have been from the story along with some previews at the sandbox building element, (Possible?) Action Combat with a unique card system, Cute little dances/emoticons, and a sneak preveiw at the customization!

In my opinion this brand new trailer we just got could restore the hype for this game. It showed us what we wanted to see, i.e. customization, combat, general gameplay. The anime graphics are astoundinly beautiful and the animations for the movement looks smooth. This is a very good sign for us players, considering the time they have taken the time to polish the game. The playable demo will be avaliable soon for those attending the Peria Chronicle booths at G-STAR. In addition to releasing the Official Trailer of the game, they also released numerous videos that were most likely focusing on the technical side of the game where you can program items and things in the game to act on commands. However, everything was in Korean along with the commentary so I couldn't make out what they were syaing.

Peria Chronicles is an open world MMORPG, which is set in the background of the war between human and monsters. Players' mission is to fight against the monsters in order to expel the beasts that disturbs human's social order, and players are more like watching an anime while playing the game. Designed using a self-developed engine, warm feelings of cell animation was bodied out; where players can interact with every single in-game objects. The 'Kirana' species whom you will encounter in the game can either be a life threatening enemy or your companion in battle by providing skills. Manage to overpower the enemies building your own.

Below are 2 short gameplay videos from Korean media inven, where you can see the game's UI.

November Meta: OP Hog Rider + Ice Golem Deck for Arena 9 [3500 + Trophies]

$

Introduction
With the fall of Goison, the rise in popularity of Royal Giant and Hog Rider decks was inevitable, and this rise led the way to a surge in Barbarians which deal with both the Royal Giant and Hog Rider (and others) very effectively, in fact the barbarians is probably one of the best defensive cards in the game. Upon stumbling across many Royal Giants and hordes of Barbarians I decided to take advantage of this, and this is shown in a this montage (also in the video at the base of this article).

So if you're looking for a counter to the Giant, Royal Giant (other tanks even the Hog Rider) and Barbarians, look no further, this deck consists of tournament level cards (with the exception of level 11 Zap, to take care of pesky over levelled goblins) and I am currently playing it at 3550 trophies. It should be noted that this deck generally plays well and doesn’t just win against Royal Giants and Barbarians, which is a given when considering the trophy level.

I have reverted back to the old school zap and fireball combination which as most of you will know one shot barbarians, however you can also do a princess arrow attack and fireball which does the same thing. The slight issue/risk with this strategy is that you need to premeditate the barbarians being played, but do not fret, people really are easily read and so long as you bear in mind your opponents' cards rotation you should succeed on your first fireball zap combination attempt. To deal with the Royal Giant and other tanks I included the Inferno Dragon and Tombstone which shuts those done very effectively, please note that normally one of these defensive cards is suffice.

The three tricks to this strategy are:
  1. To 'scout out your opponent', know what cards he/she has and what they use defensively (and offensively), to be honest this you should do with every deck but is imperative to this one, more on this later.
  2. Play your opening hand correctly which will nearly always be as slow as possible whilst not wasting elixir, more on this later.
  3. Not becoming readable yourself, you only really need to hit the Barbarians with either a ‘Fireball & Zap’ or ‘Fireball & Princess attack’ once to destroy a tower. Take care when repeating, more on this later.

Starting hand
Most of the time you will play as defensive and slow as possible. That means starting from the back with Ice Golem, Princess, or Mega Minion. The only time you don't play slow is when you have a hand consisting of: Hog Rider, Zap, Fireball, and Inferno Dragon, in which case you immediately drop the Hog Rider and if the opponent responds with Zapable units then kill 'em! It can be quite nasty if they have a direct counter straight away like Barbarians but don't worry you should be able to clean the counter push up easily and when you next push out with your Hog Rider you can nearly be certain the opponent will drop Barbarians as they did so well last time (why wouldn’t they?!), enter fireball zap gnom gnom gnom :)

Offence
  • Use Hog Rider to push Ice Golem to tower with Fireball and Zap at the ready. If the opponent drops Minions or Minion Horde you can use zap in conjunction with the Ice Golem’s death to kill them off. If you know the opponent will drop barbs, hit them with the fireball zap combination.
  • I prefer to have my princess pushing the other lane but if the opponent doesn't have a satisfactory way of dealing with her, push her down the same lane as her arrows in conjunction with fireball is enough to one shot Barbarians.
  • If the opponent is using Tombstone to defend place an aggressive princess down with Hog rider, one swing from the Hog rider and one attack from the Princess is enough to kill the tombstone and the princess will then target the skeletons.
  • If the opponent is dropping Canon to defend versus your Hog Rider, counter attacking with your defensive Mega Minion works well, the Hog Rider taking the tower damage.
  • You may get lucky enough to get your inferno dragon to do some damage to tower which is a bonus, don't force/try to make it happen though, it is a bonus.
  • Be aware of not becoming predictable, when I pull off the Fireball Zap combination I won't repeat the same strategy again but make sure to save your fireball for when the Barbarians just cross the bridge for maximum (potential) value.

Defence
  • Use the Inferno Dragon to kill off high hit point targets, be aware of opponents’ method of dealing with your Inferno Dragon: Zap, Lightning, Minion Horde, Musketeer, etc and react accordingly.
  • Use Tombstone to pull Hog Rider or delay/kite tanks.
  • Use princess or zap versus Skeleton Army or unguarded Minions / Minion Horde. Against guarded Minions / Minion Horde use Ice Golem with Zap or Fireball, you can use Princess with Zap but the Princess has to be placed perfectly which can be tough, best not to risk a misplacement.
  • Use Mega Minion to deal with medium health troops, generally I only use Mega Minion defensively, you can counter attack using Hog Rider and or Ice Golem but do not be distracted from your main push unless that is not working.
  • Ice Golem can be used to pull Barbarians, Mini Pekka, Pekka, LumberJack, and others into the other lane. Hog Rider can also be used to delay using similar technique.
  • Obviously Fireball and Zap is a fantastic counter to the Three Musketeers.

Conclusion
This deck has great cards which can just about deal with anything, in fact the only card which I have trouble against has been versus a Graveyard deck which I find entertaining given my low opinion of the Graveyard, thanks Karma. Give this deck a go, be patient with understanding your opponent and then counter their predictability, like I just said this deck can defend exceptionally well and all it really needs is for opponent to presume that just their Barbarians is enough to defend versus your Hog Rider for you to do serious damage/destruction to their tower. For visual aid of how this deck works as well as an awesome minute montage of barbarian destruction at the beginning please see the video above, enjoy:)!!

[Exclusive] Rift's Starfall Prophecy Expansion with the Devs

$

The Starfall Prophecies have come to pass, the Comet of Ahnket is heading straight for Telara and it is up to us to stop it from consuming our world. This is no ordinary comet, it is the harbinger of doom and with it comes threats from the planes of life and fire that it has picked up along the way.

For those who still aren’t quite sure what I’m talking about this is the basis for Rift’s latest expansion Starfall Prophecy. The expansion, which releases today, increases the level cap from 65 to 70, introduces 5 new zones, and brings new ways to improve and change the way you play your characters. I had the opportunity to sit down with "Dead Simon" Ffinch and Chris Junior from Trion to learn everything I could about the expansion and get some answers to burning questions.

You may be wondering why this expansion is a paid one when the last was not. Well, this was based entirely on player feedback. Devs need to be paid for their work so when the last expansion was released there were a number of microtransactions that came with it instead of having to buy the expansion. Players weren’t too keen on this though and said it felt a bit like they were being nickel and dimed. So, Trion returned to the paid expansion model, a win for everyone.

On the topic of listening to players, they’re introducing Planar Assaults, which are much like Instant Adventures except that they take place in specially instanced zones and they’re just a never ending supply of Rifts. Something I could see myself getting lost in for days. These planar assaults will feature all the types of Rifts that have come before for a specific plane and introduce some new, never seen before ones as well. How is this listening to players? They noticed that quite often during Instant Adventures if players saw a rift open up they would stop what they were supposed to be doing to go after the rift. It was pretty clear to Trion that people love Rifts, so making endless rifts was just a logical step to make. This way players who want to do Instant Adventures can do Instant Adventures and those who just want to chase rifts all day can do that too. In addition to Rifts, there will be the occasional boss to mix things up a bit.

One of the biggest changes to Rift in this expansion is the introduction of Planar Fragments. These planar themed parts are used to boost and change the secondary stats in your armor. As you might expect each plane is better suited towards certain stats, so life fragments will be leaned more towards healing, fire is for DPS, and so on. These fragments can be upgraded, at first with platinum, then using planarite, but the highest tier will require you to break down fragments you aren’t using in order to get the materials required for the upgrade. Much like the wardrobe slot, you will be able to save your setup and swap out of it into another while you’re out of combat.

If you’re looking for something that will fundamentally change the way you play your character then you should be looking towards Legendary Abilities. From level 65 you will be able to put points into legendary powers, powers that really are the very definition of what that soul is, and make them well…legendary. With the ability to only get five of them you will see a whole lot more customization being introduced.

Starfall Prophecy is, of course, bringing in something for everyone, no matter what their interest is. If dungeons and raids are more your style then you’re in luck as they are introducing 2 new dungeons and a new raid. But perhaps even more exciting than new content is the Looking For Raid tool. Now you’ll be able to find raids even easier than before. It was also mentioned that dimensions and crafting would get some attention as well, but they didn’t go into any specifics on that. I suppose we will just have to wait and see what they have in store for us when it launches.

The expansion is introducing so many new things it’s really hard to list them all, and honestly, I’ll leave that for the patch notes. I asked Simon what it was he was looking forward to seeing players do he said that he’s excited to see what players do with legendary powers. That "Players do things we couldn't possibly imagine." And the possibilities are practically endless.

You may notice that the newer content’s graphics are a bit better than those that have come before. This is thanks in part to the 64bit introduction. But Trion doesn’t have any plans to go back to older parts of the game and do a big sweeping upgrade to the graphics. Instead, they’ll do it a little bit at a time as key parts start to show their age or are used in the future. Keep in mind that at this point Rift is a 5-year-old game and still looks pretty amazing if you ask me.

I would like to say a very big thank you to DeadSimon and Chris for taking the time to show me Starfall Prophecy. The expansion looks like it will be amazingly fun to play no matter it is you like to do. So if you’re interested in buying the expansion head over to Rift’s official site where you can get a beautiful drake mount, an instant level 65 boost, a title, and more when you purchase the expansion. I’m curious to find out what part of the expansion you’re most interested in. Leave a comment below and I’ll be sure to read them all in between planar assaults.

NCsoft Blocks 17 Countries from Playing WildStar

Last month, we talked about EA banned some countries from using Origin. Now NCsoft was just doing the same, according to report, as players from CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) regions and some other countries from Asia and Africa found that they can no longer login and play Guild Wars 2 and WildStar. It turned out Guild Wars2's block was a mistake, as ArenaNet's Forum Communications Team Lead Gaile Gray stated later.

Those players apparently received an email from NCsoft and they were informed that the game was no longer available in their countries. According to the statement at WildStar official site, the block was the result of sanctions applied by the US Department of State. The list of blocked countries includes 17 countries from Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.

The game which can be played for free through any browser was launched globally in July this year and has seen millions of gamers joining the amazing ninja world in Naruto Online. Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia are the countries in Southeast Asia with the highest number of sign-ups during the last three months.

Naruto Online is entirely set in the Naruto universe, and faithfully follows the NARUTO story portrayed in the anime series. Players can choose to become one of the five characters that represent the elements of earth, water, fire, wind and lightning. As players start their own adventure and gain experience in a variety of different types of quests and gameplay modes, they can interact with original characters from the Naruto series through role play enabling them to continue the tale of Naruto as he continues his quest to become the Hokage. Players can also recruit from 170 familiar ninjas from the series including Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura to build their own team.

Naruto Online is directly licensed through Bandai Namco Entertainment in partnership with Tencent. It is the first and only authorised Naruto RPG browser game depicting the popular manga in all respects, including the original Japanese voice actors and scenes, fans may recognize from the anime series, being used in-game.

“There has been a lot of fan demand for NARUTO ONLINE especially in Southeast Asia,” said Peter Zhou, European & Southeast Asian Marketing Director, Oasis Games. “This game offers a great and authentic experience of the Naruto story with every detail in the original plot intact. Through player involvement and community building, we hope to establish the Naruto legacy in the region by continuously getting people interested and signing up for the game in Asia.”

According to market research firm Newzoo, revenues of Southeast Asia’s gaming market reached $1.1 billion with 126 million gamers at the end of 2014. PC/ MMO remains the largest contributor of revenues and Newzoo estimates it will remain a big chunk of the market, along with mobile games, as the market doubles in revenue by 2017.  Six key countries accounting for 99% of the total revenues generated in the whole region come from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

While the game has already launched in other parts of the world, Naruto Online continues to excite and engage players. Players, like Luqman Hafiz, who enjoy the gameplay has labelled the game as “really cool and very good” on the Naruto Online Facebook page. Fellow ninja, Akito Shou, says “Naruto Online makes me feel actually part of the story and I’m always passionate to challenge the best.”

Naruto Online players are in for some treats in November as Naruto Online offers a new ninja, Shino Aburame (Great Ninja War) as part of the daily check-in reward. A recently concluded event, "Battle Armor Rebates", helped ninjas update their battle armour to get extra rebates and achievement packs. More updates are planned to continue to enhance the gaming experience.

Keeping true to the original storyline, the immortal Hidan, who is able to inflict damage on the opponent by attacking himself, strikes Asuma dead later this month. Between November 20 till 26 fans can post their tale of how the infamous duel goes down, the 20 best entries will win in-game rewards. Gigantic - Quick Preview of The Closed Beta

$
0
0
Developed by the independent studio Motiga, Gigantic is a MOBA featuring two teams of five players, each supported by a Guardian, a giant beast that they must protect but also use offensively. In addition to this element, Gigantic is based on a colorful art direction and an Asian-inspired all action gameplay. Currently in closed beta, it shouldn’t be too long now until the game is available to all.

Overview

Gigantic rests on the foundations of a classic MOBA but brings a touch of originality and manages to stand out from other games in the genre. Indeed, its graphic style is very oriented towards cartoons, with beautiful bright colors. There are also some conventional mechanics that have been reworked, making gameplay original and pleasant.

In terms of gameplay, as mentioned above, Gigantic's matches involve two teams defending their guardian. These titans also need power points to attack their rival, points that are acquired by killing enemy monsters and, later in the match, by killing enemy players. It can even be stolen from enemy guardians, which is why they need to be defended. After being powered up, your guardian will attack the opponent and put it to the ground. This is where you and your team need to get involved, attacking the enemy guardian before it gets back to its feet. Defeating the enemy guardian, that possesses 3 life bars, is basically the objective you need to accomplish to win the match.

Another way of gaining power points for your guardian is by capturing targets. Once captured, these targets generate power points, but will need to be protected from other players. To help, you can summon monsters that can either damage opponents, heal allies, or spot enemies.

This is an interesting mechanic because a bad choice of monster, based on which of these 3 roles you need, can really be disabling. In the closed beta, there were 3 targets on each side, plus a last one in the center where the team could summon a monster that generates power points for them. This monster had to be defended because if the opposing team managed to kill it, they earned power points for their guardian.

Getting back to the map in itself, it is very colorful and really captures the screen. It has landforms, not necessarily very high, but enough to make the gameplay reliant on the positioning. Indeed, remember that the game is as much a shooter as a MOBA, and that you’ll need to take cover at time to avoid taking too much damage needlessly. You can even use these landforms to your advantage, launching surprise attacks on unsuspecting enemies by dropping on them from above.

Regarding the champions, classic archetypes are included: DPS, Healing/Support and Tank. Each character has unique abilities and that related to the character style. You have the attacks on the mouse buttons, and spells on your keyboard. You move your character with the WASD keys allowing Gigantic to offer a quite immersive gameplay!

Outside of the game, you can choose which creature you can invoke in. You have three basic creatures at your disposal, but you can unlock new ones with the points you earn by accomplishing your goals.

They are presented as cards that you fill as you progress in the objectives of the cards. Accomplishing these goals will give you points to buy new heroes, unlock new creatures and most likely many others by the release of the game.

Conclusion

That’s all for now. Obviously, before the game's release, we can count the addition of new cards and various other heroes, as well as a slight polishing of the gameplay and graphics. Regardless, Gigantic is already worthy of being counted among the competitive games of the moment.

Archer New Skills and Mechanics Unveiled in TERA Fang and Feather Update

En Masse Entertainment has unveiled New Skills and Mechanics for Archer in TERA's Fang and Feather Update. Fang and Feather is the next major update and coming later this month. This update features revamped Archer class, a brand-new 30-player raid that pits players against the biggest BAM (Big Ass Monster), and more.

Take a look at the changes for Archer class:

Find Weakness allows you to treat your next attack as an attack from the rear, regardless of your relative position.

Chase allows you to charge forward up to 16m, to keep a fleeing foe in range of your attacks!

Focus: Select skills now generate Focus, a stackable buff that reduces the charging time of the archer’s high-damage attacks, Penetrating Arrow and Radiant Arrow.

Arrow: A successful hit with this basic attack generates one stack of Focus.

Rapid Fire now does triple damage for the first hit, and 10% more damage for each subsequent hit. A successful hit with this attack generates one stack of Focus.

Final Salvo has been replaced with Sequential Fire, a quick follow-up attack that cancels the stagger effect from Penetrating Arrow, Radiant Arrow, and Thunderbolt. A successful hit from Sequential Fire generates 3 stacks of Focus and deals significantly more damage than Final Salvo did previously.

Thunderbolt’s damage has been doubled.

Poison Arrow’s cast time has been drastically reduced.

Rain of Arrows’ damage has been increased, with a new attack mechanic. If your first shot is an attack from the rear, all subsequent shots will be as well!

Backstep and Breakaway Bolt now allow movement in any direction.

Sniper’s Eye’s effect has changed. It now grants 7% more damage against all monsters instead of 5% more damage against just bosses as it did previously.

Incendiary Trap Arrow now deals 20% more damage.

Slow Trap Arrow now allows you to trigger the trap at will, with a second press of the skill button.

You can read more details for Fang and Feather Update on TERA site. En Masse Entertainment will debut a video walkthrough of Fang and Feather's new 30-player raid dungeon on next Tuesday.
