FromSoftware Said "We're Hoping" Dark Souls in VR

VR is mentioned in almost every place in the gaming world. At the pre-show for the 2016 Golden Joystick Awards several days ago, Dark Souls 3's producer Atsuo Yoshimura was asked about Dark Souls in VR, and he responded "We're hoping."

Related: Overwatch Is the Big Winner of This Year's Golden Joystick Awards

Dark Souls in VR, as I can imagine, will have to make radical change to the combat system because fighting in the first-person view and the third-person view is 2 entirely different things for Dark Soul. So my guess is FromSoftware won't make a full Dark Soul VR game but could make an Experience Mode, just like Call of Duty's Jackal Assault and Tomb Raider's Croft Manor chapter.

However, I do hope FromSoftware make a VR game with a new IP.

EVE Online: Ascension was announced at EVE Vegas 2016. As biggest change in its 13-year history, the new expansion introduces an innovative new system that players to sign-up without paying the monthly subscription fee. According to CCP Games’, EVE Online hit 500k concurrent players in the first date of the update.

640

Compared with the peak of 650k concurrent players in 2013, we have no idea whether this switch can break the record or just stay the same. But one thing for sure is that, many players are quite interested in f2p titles.

Personally, I will give it a shot. What’ your opinion? Please feel free to comment below.

Araya Is a Horror VR Game Reminds Me of Classic Thriller F.E.A.R.

Araya is new story-driven VR horror game that's released on Steam today. The game sets in a Thai hospital and puts you into the perspective of 3 different characters. You'll explore the hospital, seeking the answers to a series of mysterious incidents and the murder of Araya.

The visual style of Araya can easily remind me of F.E.A.R., a survival horror FPS developed by Monolith Productions. Araya is also a first-person game, and the main character Araya looks like the Thai version of Alma, a ghostly little girl and iconic protagonist in F.E.A.R. series.

Araya and Alma

You can't shoot anyone in Araya, but you can still get the creep thanks to the great hospital environment created by the developer. Speaking of hospital, the game may remind you of Amnesia and Outlast, another 2 classic survival horror games.

Araya can be played with or without VR. You can learn more at the Steam page.

Clash Royale: Insane Miner + Graveyard Cycle Deck for Tournament

$

0
I've been camping in Legendary arena for the past few months, collecting legendary cards. (just missing the Princess!) After I got a Graveyard, I created a deck that works insanely well for me in tournaments. This could work on ladder, but I haven't tried it yet.

My Deck

Miner: The MVP of this deck. Use him to take out Princesses, elixir pumps, annoying buildings, and of course, tank for the Graveyard. In extremely rare cases, you can use him as a Lightning rod.

Graveyard: This card is also pretty important. Pair it with the Miner to take down your opponents crown tower in seconds. Although it isn't meant to be used defensively, it can serve as an emergency Skeleton Army, but remember that it does have a 1.5 second placement delay (2.5s counting the server delay).

The Log: Perfect in the current meta. This can be used to snipe annoying Princesses, crush Goblin Barrels, destroy a Skarmy... If you don't have it, Zap works well as a replacement.

Arrows: Minions are a huge threat to this deck. If they don't have Minions, use this card as a secondary Log. If they do have Minions, try to save the arrows just for them. If they place down a Skarmy/Minion Horde to counter your Grave-digger push every time, try pre-placing your arrows down on their tower. Once again, you can use this card to kill a Princess.

Mega Minion: This card is insanely strong. Use it to kill mini-tanks like a Hog Rider, Mini Pekka, Valkyrie, Baby Dragon.. you get the idea. Combined with an Ice Golem, it can also stop many medium-sized pushes. The MM works on killing the tank unit while the Ice Golem soaks up hits from the support unit long enough for the MM to finish up and destroy the slowed-down support. Know what else it can do..? One-shot a Princess!

Ice Golem: Amazing defensive capabilities paired with the Mega Minion. You can usually kite melee support units away from the tank, while the MM works on killing the tank. This card can also work as a great counter to Skarmy, just plop it into the middle of the horde. Use it as a tank for the Graveyard if the Miner isn't available. Against Seige decks, the IG can distract an X-Bow/Mortar long enough for you to attack it with a Skarmy or MM. An IG+MM push can seriously harm a tower. It's also a great Lightning rod.

Furnace: Before using the Furnace, make sure that it's correctly leveled. It supplies constant chip damage to a tower, and can usually bait out an Ice Wizard/Princess for you to kill. Use it as a Minion killer when arrows aren't available. I'd recommend doing a Grave-digger push on the opposite side the Furnace is on.

Skeleton Army: The Skarmy is mainly used defensively. If your opponent doesn't have a proper Graveyard counter, they'll usually use up one or two spells countering it. This allows you to safely use your Skarmy on their push. I would highly recommend that you don't use it to cycle cards, use something like an Ice Golem or Mega Minion instead.

I'd recommend watching these Orange Juice videos, as they contain more information about each card I used:
Miner
Graveyard
The Log
Mega Minion
Ice Golem

Countering Meta Decks:
Beatdown: If your opponent places something like a Golem or Lava Hound in the back, immediately go for a Grave-digger push on the opposite tower. Usually those types of decks have very weak counters to this deck, so they might put something down like a MM and zap to counter your push. At this point, set up your defense. IG+MM to work on the tank unit, with a Furnace to pull it. Try putting down a Skarmy, even if it's out for a few seconds, it can rack up serious damage onto a Golem/Giant/Royal Giant. If it's a LH, the Skarmy can focus on killing the ground support and incoming Miners, and even soak up some hits from Lava Pups. Arrow Minions, or Lava Pups if they don't have Minions. Rinse and repeat until you have their tower down. Even if they take one of your towers, you can out-cycle them and take down their second one.

Spell-bait: Spell bait decks usually contains cards like Minions, Princess, Skarmy, Goblin Barrel, and Miner. Your Skarmy can stop a Miner+Gob-barrel push easily, and if that gets zapped, just Log the combo. Pre-placed Log/Arrows will wipe out a Minion Horde/Skarmy used to counter your Grave-digger push. Miner+Skarmy can be stopped by placing an Ice Golem into their Skarmy, and use a Mega Minion to counter their Miner. Your Furnace also helps against other small Miner pushes they may do.

Control: These decks usually have a spawner-building, a Hog Rider or Royal Giant, and a Musketeer/Valkyrie. After countering your Grave-digger push, they'll place a Hog/RG behind/in front of a support and Ice Golem and ruin your counter. To deal with this, use your IG to distract their support, kill the tank with MM and Skarmy, and finish off the leftover troops with your remaining troops.
Thanks for reading my guide on this deck. I discovered the deck by myself, but if someone else may have posted about it before, I apologize for that. This is my first guide, so some formatting may be off. If you have any more questions, leave a comment.

This deck is shared by prangarang at /r/ClashRoyale

The WoW Tokens Might Be Used on a Range-Wide of Blizzard Titles

$

The WoW tokens were introduced in the World of Warcraft in March 2015. Soon after they were introduced, Blizzard decided to impose some restraints, for those interested in purchasing WoW tokens from the Auction House or in-game Shop. According to recent information, Blizzard "intends" to allow players to use the WoW tokens (which are currently obtainable and traded  through the World of Warcraft Auction House) might be used for another Blizzard titles.

Some specialized keen-eyes were able to "figure out" from some strings of code belonging to the WoW
7.1.5 patch files, that the WoW tokens "might soon be convertible into a standardized Blizzard balance - allowing them to be spent in titles like Overwatch and Hearthstone." Currently, players can purchase a WoW token for around $20. Once the WoW token is transfered on a WoW character, it can either be sold (or bought) for around 100,000 'Gold' or redeemed for 30 extra days of game time. If these speculations will materialize, we can expect to see a rise of the WoW tokens value.

Revelation Is Selling a $49 Balloon Mount - Will You Pay for It?

$

A month ago, we discussed whether the Revelation Online’s Founder Packs are pay to win. As the shopping frenzy is around the corner, My.com unveiled an exclusive Flying Balloon as the Black Friday offer. To my surprise, the flying mount will cost $48.99 or €44.99 to buy. Let’s take a look at the expensive mount in the video below.

Many players are complaining about the price and worry it will be the indicator of the game’s pricing index. Compared with mounts in WoW sold between $10-$30, I think it’s a little bit expensive for an unfinished game.

According to the official announcement, the flying mount is a standalone offer of exclusive content aimed to provide rare items to early adopters funding the project and it won’t represent the cash shop policy of the game. What’s more, no one should even consider buying the balloon alone unless they have a pack. If you have already bought the $89.99 Deluxe Pack, you only need to pay $22 for the mount.

But I think most people only bought the $59.99 Founder Pack. The question is, are you willing to to pay $32 for a mount? Anyway, I'm glad to know that the 2nd cbt will be available by the end of this year.

Days ago, Horsejoke, the Associate Producer with Snail Gmas USA, told players the server size for Dark and Light is between 70-500, which clearly indicates DnL is not and MMO and the MMO tag has been removed from their Facebook page. But the good news is Snail Games becoming active on social media with cinematic pictures of the races’ home cities.

"The Dwarven city's name is "Zaharul", which means "cheers" in Dwarvish. Every year, this city holds a massive drinking party, which brings together all matter of men and women of different races and cultures to get completely sloshed in the name of tradition." Players may not get much natural light living here, but the natural protection the city offers is unparalleled. However, if the explores are not a Dwarf, he/she may not be welcomed in Zaharul.

Any master crafter will feel right at home in the Dwarven city of Zaharul.

The Elven home city of Estel, nested in forests, is a great choice for players who prefer the great outdoors and bright, wide-open spaces!

I also checked the Chinese official page, the developer confirmed players will have access to Early Access this year. Hoping for more updates to come!

Ubisoft's Massive Open-World MMO Steep, Early Impressions

$
0
0
During the last E3, Ubisoft surprised everyone at the end of their small conference by presenting Steep, a game part of a genre we believe was bound to disappear. This isn’t exactly surprising, considering that the first game fully developed by Ubisoft Annecy was a sliding game, combining skiing, snowboarding, and even paragliding. Regardless, it was quite an unexpected choice to close the event, but that made sense in a particular context.

It has been so long since we last heard of EA Sports Bigs that most probably forgot about it by now. It must be said that their last SSX title did not work well, commercially speaking, and is probably the failure that plunged the entire genre in the shadows. So logically, when Ubisoft announces Steep at the end of their E3 conference, eyebrows were raised. Especially since the game is developed by a small studio that was until now only known for its support work on various AAA Ubisoft titles, namely the multiplayer modes of the Assassin's Creed series. The Annecy studio cherished the idea of developing a game like Steep for years now, the team itself being composed of skiers and riders of all kinds. And thanks to different tools, developed for Ghost Recon Wildlands, the team finally had the means of its ambitions, and had all the greenlights towards an approval of the project lined up.

Ubisoft has a passion for the open world, that is a fact. With Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Watch Dogs, The Crew, The Division, the publisher-developer likes to immerse the player in a world that they can explore however and whenever they wish to. The world of Steep is composed of several large mountains, which, while being distant by several hundred kilometers in the real world, are here glued to each other to form a vast playground. Mont Blanc, Tyrol, Matterhorn. It only takes you a few minutes in the game to realize how much the developers love the mountains. Each mountain has a different appearance, and requires a different approach. Gentle slopes, cliffs, exposed rocks, forests, glaciers, there's something for everyone. But above all, what we notice is that the developers have turned these mountains into real characters. From time to time, the mountains speak to players and reveal their personalities and history. Steep is then readily mystical, thanks to a soundtrack that sounds more and more natural, more pure. If a playlist of songs well known to the public can be heard at events such as challenges, the team had the good idea to use the concept of dynamic music for most of the free phases of the game. As such, exploring the world turns into a soothing and relaxing stroll.

The controls, be it when skiing, snowboarding or paragliding, are simple, and truly intuitive. However, this does not mean that the game forgets about the basic rules of physics. When paragliding, for example, you will need will take into account the sometimes complex concepts such as air currents. Same for the wingsuit, where each turn taken too wide will cause the character to lose some valuable altitude. Skiing and snowboarding will, however, be somewhat less forgiving, requiring players to be especially careful with the timing of their jumps.

The challenges are numerous and, since the game is hyper-connected, you will have regular opportunities to invite your friends to watch your exploits, beat your records or simply participate with you in the same event. In this, the game is flexible, although the overall interface and world map requires a little time to adapt.

Still, in the present state of things, Steep has chosen to focus on freedom, exploration, discovery and sharing. Perhaps at the expense of a real direction to give players, a purpose. The ultimate goal is to have the best reputation, which is represented on the screen and in the menu of the game through a small gauge and a series of numbers. If there is a global reputation, the players are left free to fill it as they please with several sub-reputations, which correspond to different ways of playing Steep. Whether it is exploring the world, performing tricks, beating speed records. This corresponds to different playstyles and the players’ freedom to express themselves as they see fit. The game also allows for some customization of the avatar (hats, coat, pants, skis, snowboard, wingsuit, etc. part of various sports brands).

Another point that would be difficult to forget the technical aspect. Ubisoft Annecy is not Ubisoft Montreal and clearly, Steep has not received a development team as large as that of the last Assassin's Creed. And it shows in the game. If the open world offers some pretty impressive panoramas, it's thanks to the artistic touch rather than the technical realization. On PlayStation 4, the textures have been said to be rather poor sometimes, which can affect how players calculate distances. There are also bugs where textures suddenly appear or disappear, greatly affecting certain challenges.

Conclusion
Steep was created by people who love, know and respect the mountains. And you can feel it. On the edge of mysticism and paganism at times, the game from Ubisoft’s Annecy put freedom and exploration in the limelight. Despite the presence of challenges, extensive social features, a great atmosphere and an undeniable technical appeal, Steep has no real guideline and perhaps lack of enticing more goals than just reputation gauge to climb . In fact, the game may divide because we do not doubt that some players will adhere to this philosophy.

Clash Royale: Elite Barbarians First Look and Impressions

$

Hi guys and gals Galbers Gaming here bringing to you a first look at the Elite Barbarians but before I get into them please let me know in the comment section:
  • what combinations you are using them with
  • what strategies in defence (both with them and against them) and offence you are using them with
  • and if you rate the card or not
The Elite Barbarians are, using SuperCell’s words, “like regular Barbarians, only harder, better, faster and stronger”. On a one to one basis SuperCell ain’t wrong but Barbarians beat Elite Barbarians due to their superior numbers, for one less Elixir I may add.

The speed of the Elite Barbarians, very fast, reduces the reaction speed of the player trying to defend against them. A solid strategy which I show in my video is the Elite Barbarians coupled with the Miner.

Elite Barbarians although they don’t do as much damage as Barbarians, they still kill tanks very quickly and due to their speed they are very good in counter attack especially like I said above, when paired with the Miner.

Against Barbarians I like to drop Minions down which if timed right can take out all of them before reaching your tower. This strategy does not work against Elite Barbarians, their speed will carry them through to the tower where they will get a few hits off.

Be wary of dropping range units (or non spawning buildings) in the middle of the field to kite the Elite Barbarians, you will find that only one will go to the middle whereas the other will go straight for your tower and every shot he gets off is the equivalent damage to a fireball.

Something should also be said for dropping your Elite Barbarians down when your opponent drops down an expensive unit at the back like a Golem, Pekka or even a Lava Hound. Your opponent will have to respond to your attack stopping them getting their ideal push off.

In summary, Elite Barbarians are scary units if allowed to reach a tower. If attacking with them build up an Elixir advantage and push in with them or counter attack with the Miner. To defend against them, make sure you do not allow them to hit your tower. The Elite Barbarians is an expensive card at six Elixir so don’t be afraid of using the same amount to stop them but if you are on equal Elixir standing you should be able to relatively easily make a positive Elixir trade by distracting them.
