Worlds Adrift's New Trailer Shows You the Actual Airship Gameplays

0
0

Bossa Studios, a small team known for games like I am Bread and Surgeon Simulator, has recently opened their official forum for their ambitious MMO Worlds Adrift, and in order to celebrate this event, they released a brand new trailer.

The footage that was recorded with real players shows some of the physics system that will be available in-game to help players interact with the world, as well as travel options, and a little bit of combat.

The basic idea behind this upcoming MMO was to create a living, breathing, open PvP world where everyhting you do matters, and everybody will face the consequences of their acts. Floating islands will provide the needed resources for crafting and repairs, if you find the right one, but beware of other players that are hunting for the same resources as you do.

Once you build your first aircraft (something that can fly or float) you will grab your crew and set for an exploration adventure in search of new resources and lost technology. You will need to find the means of fueling your ship, keep it repaired (it can be damaged in combat or from collision), and improve it when possible.

Your ship can be damaged, sabotaged, stolen or completely destroyed. The only thing that links a ship to its owner is the posibilty to set a crew respawn on it, but even that can be destroyed by other players.

More details will be revealed on the official blog, so keep an eye on it. The release date was not officially announced, but developers hinted for an Early Access phase at the end of 2015. If you want to be one of the first players to test Worlds Adrift, head over to the official site and register for exclusive access.

Blade & Soul: The Blade Master Overview

This is ongoing series leading up to launch, where each week we focus on a class you can play in Blade & Soul. Today kicks off the Blade Master Week!

Check out Blade & Soul's updated Class page on the Blade Master, where you can download some wallpapers, watch the class video, or print out a page from the Hongmoon Secret Tome, where it shows you the techniques to be a Blade Master. Join the official livestream September 24 at 10am PDT to see some high level Blade Master play, or check out Twitch streamer Bajheera on September 23 at 2pm PDT as he jumps on our closed beta build to try out the Blade Master.

The Blade Master Overview

The Blade Master is a popular class to play for one great reason: their versatility. Equally effective in both offensive skills and defensive capabilities, they're the jack-of-all-trades martial artist.

Most of the Blade Master's skills are accessible depending on the stance that the Blade Master is in: Basic Stance or Draw Stance. Flock of Blades is a powerful but short-lived technique, with associated skills, that can be used within either stance for whenever you need a strong burst of damage or protection.

Blade Master in Play

The Blade Master focuses on dealing two types of damage: Fire and Lightning. Not all skills will have an associated elemental damage, but those that do will have their damage increased with the selection of the right items. Building a focus around these damage types is advantageous in the long run, especially as you get to the end-game dungeons.

While in a party the Blade Master versatility becomes equally advantageous. Typically the Blade Master takes on the role of keeping the boss occupied while the other party members fulfill other tasks. The Blade Master captures the boss' attention by initiating the battle with a set of high damage combos, then switching to a more defensive set of skills that can maintain threat.

In Arena PvP, delicately balancing the stance switches is vital. Draw Stance and its associated abilities ensure your damage is high; but if you can't effectively react and block your opponents skills, it doesn't matter how high your damage potential is if you're constantly movement-locked or condition-afflicted.

Destiny Players Who Don't Buy the Expansion Get Some Old Content Locked Out

0
0

If you purchase Destiny but not The Taken King expansion, you can play the original game content but you can't play the new stuff included in the expansion — that makes sense. However, Destiny players (who didn't buy The Taken King) reported that some of the content in the original game became unaccessible.

"On September 14, anyone with a copy of Destiny could play a variety of crucible modes or take on the nightfall and weekly heroic strikes; as of September 15, they can't," Kotaku wrote based on players' complaints on Reddit and Destiny forum (you can see what are locked out at this Reddit post).

Bungie didn't mean to punish players for not buying the expansion, and it's because the expansion had large amount of changes and upgrades to the original game and therefore, some stuff was added and some was removed. Bungie didn't tell the community what exactly and how much would be removed and it brought complaints.

A year after its initial release, Bungies once inchoate first-person shooter, Destiny, has finally fulfilled many of its original expectations from 2014. Coming from an acrimonious consumer, I have to reluctantly admit that this new expansion, The Taken King is everything I wished the game was before I sunk an inordinate amount of time and effort in it.

Hyper Universe: The Side-Scrolling MOBA Isn't a Joke

0
0
Yes there is a side-scrolling MOBA called Hyper Universe, developed by Korean studio CwaveSoft. How does it work? Traditional 3D MOBA maps have the concept of lanes, and Hyper Universe utilizes the idea of levels. The map has 7 levels which are connected by ladders.

Hyper Universe

Players climb up or down the ladder to move between different levels. Players can jungle in all levels except the middle one, and they can kill dragons in top level. The game provides 4v4 mode with similar winning conditions to other MOBAs: take down opponent team's defense towers and destroy the main base.

Hyper Universe

Speaking of combat, Hyper Universe is more like arcade game than MOBA. The game is played mainly with keyboard, with number buttons for character abilities, C button for jumping and X for normal attack.

Hyper Universe tries to do something different in the MOBA genre, with a bold concept. It may be less competitive compared with LoL, Dota 2, and HotS, but it could fill the blank of casual MOBA market and bring arcade fans to this realm.

These 3 MMORPGs of NHN's Are Dead in South Korea

0
0
The impact of mobile MMOs has brought client MMOs into a difficult time in South Korea. NHN is one of the largest MMO companies in Korea but now they have to shut down one MMO each month starting August 2015.

ASTA - closed on August 23
Devilian - closed on September 21 (now looking for a new publisher and game data is not wiped)
Echo of Soul- will close on October 22

According to Thisisgame.com, Devilian's closure is due to dispute between NHN and the developer of the game, while ASTA and EOS' shutting down is because of unprofitability in last year  (the two games' contributed 0.1% and 0.5% revenue in NHN's 2014 gross revenue).

>> ASTA Coming to Western Market Later This Year

TERA remains operational in South Korea as well as in other regions. However, NHN will cease operation of the game in Korea starting January 2016 when their contract with Bluehole (developer of TERA) expires. If there's no other publisher takes the game over, TERA will also face closure in Korea.

Will these games western versions be affected? Hopefully not. Aeria Games claimed EOS' shutting down in Korea had no impact on the NA and EU version. ASTA and Devilian plan to release in the west later this year and early 2016, and seems that the plan isn't changed.

>> TERA (KR) Released New Trailer for Dreadspire Season 2

On the other hand, NHN's mobile game division TOAST is doing well in the market. Adventure RPG Crusader Quest reached 10 million download early this month. Another anticipated mobile RPG Guardian Stone will be launching worldwide soon.

True Mobile RTS? - Dawn of Steel to Release Worldwide Tomorrow

0
0

If you are a Sci-fi & RTS fan, you should not miss this one - Dawn of Steel. It's a colorful game with giant walking robots that blow stuff up. How can you not get excited about that?  You will find that it is quite easy to get addicted once you try this game. The game will be free-to-play and will launch worldwide tomorrow, September 24th, 2015.

Dawn of Steel's Official site: http://dawnofsteelapp.com/
Dawn of Steel's Official Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/dawnofsteel

Dawn of Steel is a deeply tactical strategy game for iOS devices. Maybe you do not know its developer, but you must have seen a game which is called Royal Revolt 2 listing on the top chart of Appsotre and Google Play. Yes, they are both developed by Flaregames. Dawn of Steel will not disappoint you.

The game falls into the Boom Beach model of building a base with defenses from attackers, while you also go out and raid others' bases. But, most importantly, this is a game where you have control of a team of bidpedal robots that you can command in battle, taking cover and using abilities on targets to help take down your enemies. It's a pretty cool combo.

Dawn of Steel Trailer:

Players are put into the role of a commander who controls a squadron of large battle walkers called Rigs, the most advanced weaponry in the galaxy. There is also a defensive element to the game, as the player is in charge of fortifying their holdings by building forts armed to the teeth with stationary weapons.

However, building in Dawn of Steel may prove more complex than it initially appears; players will have to use strategic foresight when it comes to where they place their defenses. (For example, when creating overlapping lines of sight with weaponry.) Commanders will have to align buildings within the effects of their auxiliary installations to maximize their defensive potential, and launch automated counter-attacks through the use of unit-spawning buildings. According to the development team, this makes for base building that offers a deeper level of depth to the mobile platform. Furthermore, Dawn of Steel uses a direct-touch control scheme that is said to allow players to feel the mechanized power they’re controlling.

Code Club and Plug In Digital recently announced that Wurm Unlimited, the so called "next step for the Wurm Fantasy Sandbox", will arrive to Steam on October 21, 2015. This version will allow players to play the game locally on their PC and even host persistent servers themselves.

Wurm Unlimited is pretty much a full copy of the current MMO engine with Steam integration, created to allow new players to experience the universe of Wurm in a more relaxed way.

At the start there will be two modes available: Adventure and Creative. The Adventure version is a predefined world where a few warring kingdoms coexist, and where you will need to find a way to become a deity on the moon Valrei, while the Creative version is an undeveloped map.

In both modes players will be able to become a Game Master that can instantly create items, summon creatures, build and terraform faster to create the best experience for their server. They will also be able to copy an existing mode and customize it or tweak its features like initial skill values, skill gain rates, max number of creatures, etc. Similar servers can be connected to eachother in order to create large persisten clusters.

More details about Wurm Unlimited can be found on the Steam page.
