ArcheAge Begins (Android)' Global Closed Beta Is Live for Everyone
Gamevil has kicked off Android closed beta for Unreal Engine 4 mobile RPG ArcheAge Begins on March 22, 2017. All NA, EU and Southeast Asian players can download the game to their tablets or smartphones now. There will be some in-game events hosted everyday.

The beta ends on March 30 and all data will be deleted before the final launch.
As the game's name suggests, you will discover in ArcheAge Begins the mystery that led to the era of ArcheAge, the PC MMORPG. ArcheAge Begins' story happens 2000 years before ArcheAge. Although the mobile version isn't a MMORPG, it features MMO elements such as multiplayer PvP, territory battle, boss raid, dynamic co-op dungeons, crafting, and trading, etc.
The final launch date hasn't been announced.

Twilight Pioneer Interview: How Netease Games Made Their First Mobile VR Game
At Netease Games' Insight of Fun talkshop 2017, Twilight Pioneer Producer Yu Kai shared his stories and the challenges of developing the company's first mobile VR game. 2P.com had the opportunity to interview Yu Kai at the event.
Twilight Pioneer has released on Google's Daydream platform, and what do you think the game do so far? Is it in your expectation?
The game is popular among players and ranked top in VR Game download list on Daydream. We don't have a lot of players now according to the download number, and we are focusing on hardcore gamers at the moment. There were many comments from players, and some said they don't have motion sickness playing the game, some other said the game showed the potential power of Daydream platform, and some said that's what mobile VR game should look like. We felt inspired after reading the comments, because we thought that's the difference between making a mobile game for domestic market and global market. Players have been very active by offering us useful feedback and writing us emails. They will keep providing us feedback after they got our respond.
What's plan of releasing new updates for the game? Is there going to be any new features?
The game will release the second story chapter later this season. Because of the slow developing progression, players have been waiting for a long time for the update. To thank and compensate the passionate players, we'll release all future chapters for free. In the new chapter players will explore a completely different area called The Evilgate, where players will face new enemies and bosses.
Many games are released for Gear VR first and then get HTC Vive and Oculus Rift version. Do you have the plan to release Twilight Pioneers on other VR platforms?
The game is exclusively released for Daydream platform so currently there's no such plan.
Will you reveal a new VR game this year?
We started developing Twilight Pioneer in early 2016, and we had studied the VR industry since 2014. Now we are focusing on Twilight Pioneers and we don't have plan to make another game. However, I can tell you that many other teams in Netease Games are discussing a lot about VR with us.
Why do you choose Google's Daydream platform?
We believe mobile VR has a huge potential user base, and it's very important for us to get into the general VR market. For most people, they will choose mobile VR as the first step into the VR world. From what we see in the recent few years, we think mobile VR is going more mature in smartphone specs and resolutions. We considered which mobile platform has better eco-system and user-friendly & developer-friendly experience, and we chose Daydream. It's the best mobile VR platform in our opinions and that's why we decide to develop games exclusively for it. Nonetheless, as content provider we do hope there will be more great platforms.
How do you make Twilight Pioneers' narrative and interaction a unique experience?
Players can move freely in the game, thus they may feel confused and don't know what to do next. It's caused by many different factors, and sometimes it's the lack of tutorials, and sometimes it's that players can't follow the tutorials or choose to neglect them intentionally or unintentionally. In Twilight Pioneers, we create a lot of leads to direct players such as lights, bridges, or character voices. VR games aren't like PC and mobile games in terms of tutorials, so we summarize a rule: there must be 2 dynamic leads and a traditional lead to guide each of players' actions.
An example is a player's gaming experience shown in the video below (from 5:20 to 6:10)
In the video, the lights and bridge are dynamic leads that keep attracting players' attention. NPC, on the other hand, keeps talking to the player until he finally makes the right action and doesn't miss any key points in the story. The player in the video notices the lights and the dragon, and at the same time he realizes that the female NPC will rescue him. This is a very important scene in the game, because it tells player how they obtain the power of dragon.
And take a look at another video from 4:10 to 5:15.
The Youtuber in the video misses this important scene because he pays too much attention to the female NPC and ignores the dragon, and eventually he doesn't understand why he's saved by the NPC. We didn't expect that and we decided to fix it. Perhaps we will require players to interact with the NPC and then awake the dragon. We think by doing so he won't miss this scene anymore.
In terms of interaction, we designed UI, movement, and combat based on the concept of making traditional video game. However, we found it could offer the optimized experience for mobile VR gamers. We made a change immediately and communicated with Google frequently to polish the game. During the development we didn't stop looking at the VR industry to see how it developed. We finally had the interaction system as you can see in the game now after studying lots of player feedback and releasing many patch updates. We tried 6 versions of UI and ran 3 focused tests to improve the game.

Black Desert GM Solemnly Sentenced Toxic Player to Write a 501-Word Confession
To punish trollers, gankers, and other toxic players in online games, you don't have to take the ultimate penalty, the perma ban. Black Desert GM Rhotaaz tried something novel, and he sentenced Kimochi, a guy who kept killing innocent players in the game, to write a 501-word confession on the forum.
In an in-game mail that Kimochi received, GM Rhotaaz solemnly announced the "crimes" of Kimochi, and gave him 24 hours' time to confess on the forum by writing down his character's history and stories. You can read the full mail below.
Kimochi confessed but what he wrote on the forum was removed for certain reason. The GM then posted on Reddit, claiming they will be watching Kimochi even though the conditions were fulfilled. "But we understand this as a warning. They should not ignore you. We'll keep you in mind! Protect the Rollers! " the GM wrote. What a great GM!

Co-op Action RPG Game Dauntless Starts Alpha Test Signup
Dauntless developer Phoenix Labs has announced to start Alpha test signup for the co-op action RPG. They will be rolling out their closed, invite-only test over the coming months and if you are interested in helping the developer to make the game, you can apply for alpha at the official site.
Dauntless will be in an early Alpha state and Phoenix Labs want you to give feedback even though it’s unfinished. For example, the developer may turn 500 people loose to fight only Drask for a day to properly balance his encounter. They may unlock a new weapon or armour set to test how well they perform in the heat of battle. There will be bugs, glitches, and unfinished content; it’s all part of the process.
Because Dauntless is still in development, Phoenix Labs will be asking all Alpha participants to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and to not share their access with anyone, to not stream the game, and to not create videos or screenshots of the game. Later this year, Phoenix Labs will open Dauntless up for streaming, video creation, and other kinds of sharing.
Dauntless first Alpha Test will land in late April, you can fill Alpha Sign-Up form here. If you haven’t already, you’ll need to sign up for a Dauntless account as well. Player will be selected based on a variety of factors including hardware, geographic location, and favourite games.

ArcheAge Begins Beginner's Guide, Leveling Up Faster
ArcheAge Begins is finally in Closed Beta, and while there are a bunch of things for us to see and try out (I've personally been looking forward to how they dealt with the lore), the main focus for now should be on the rewards XL Games is offering for reaching certain milestones in the game (level 20, tier 3 characters, and so on). This guide will you he progress through the games faster to reach these rewards before the CBT ends.

Save Stamina items
The first thing you’ll want to do is to avoid using your Stamina items (receives as rewards) if it is it is already full. That is because while your current Stamina is above the cap (which slowly goes up as you level, reaching 130 at level 21), you will not benefit from the regen rate, which is already quite bad at the awfully slow rate of 1 per 20mins or so. Gaining a level also fills up the Stamina, making it a common resource early on. Note that you can store them for 7 days, and trust me, soon enough you'll be glad you didn't waste them.
Auto battles and 2X Speed
Let's be fair, the combat in ArcheAge begins is kind of a drag. Thankfully, there are a few ways to get past this negative aspect, and like most of us, you will most likely end up hitting the 2X speed button. Hitting the Auto button, however, is more of a stretch, since it's pretty much letting the game play the skills for you.
You might worry that the AI may not use them properly (which it truthfully doesn’t do), but honestly, early on it doesn’t matter.
Upgrading gear
Having to upgrade gear is another thing that feels like a chore in ArcheAge begins. The level of each gear item is capped according to the level of the character. For example, if Gene is at level 10, his sword will be capped at level 10, 11 at level 11, and so on.

But again, honestly, early on, and up to part 2-5 of the Saga, there is no need to upgrade everything every time. Gene, being the tank, will obviously need all his gear to handle the agro properly. For everyone else, just get/upgrade their weapon and ring for now.
And even then, you don’t have to waste time upgrading them each time the characters level. Simply do it 1-2 times per volume, or when you feel things are getting harder.
Volume 2.5 and getting Gene to 2*
Volume 2.5 is the first wall you will hit in ArcheAge Begins. Even with all your characters and their gear leveled properly, you will have a hard time finishing this.
So, once you hit that wall in Saga, it's time to move over to Legacy of Heroes to get your first character to tier 2. I personally think it's best to start with Gene, since he is the tank and melee attacker of your party around that time. In fact, you will be able to pass that wall quite easily by unlocking a few of Gene’s abilities in the Talent tab. But, let's be honest, you will have a much easier time if you do get him to tier 2 grinding your way up.

The process is quite simple. Challenge Gene’s legacy of heroes over and over until you have enough of the Gene’s Courage hero material to get him to tier 2. The issue is that while the stamina costs of the Legacy of Heroes have an initial cost of 12 for each hero, it slowly goes up as you complete them, reaching up to a cost of 60 Stamina per battle by the time I had enough Gene’s Courage. Meaning that you would quickly run out if you only completed Legacy of Heroes maps.

Another Martial Arts MMO Diving Deep into PAY TO WIN

USER INTERFACE: it is obviously a clutter which leaves just a reasonable center part of the screen left for you to focus on your view. I highly suggest that you zoom out so that you can see a wider perspective. For the hidden tabs, you basically have to remember where those tabs are located. For example, you can view your flying skills by tapping on the button located at the lower left corner of the screen.

you will find yourself tapping on multiple buttons every time since you need to queue and arrange your cultivation skills etc.

QUESTING: Auto Path, Auto Battle, Auto Questing... you can basically spend hours "doing" quest by just tapping the quest on the tracker. Tap > auto path > tap > auto path > tap > auto submit > tap > get rewards > tap > do next quest and so on...

these features are both boring and convenient at the same time. Questing is also divided into many types. Main quest line, School/Sect Quest, Tutorial Quest, Event Quest etc.
The diversity, convenience and story line is pretty interesting.

PvE and PvE: Player VS Enemy is your basic feature which is either open world or instanced. For open world PvE kill quest, you can either fight manually or enable auto battle. PvP on the other hand is more complicated. You can choose from X different options where PEACE mode will disable you from initiating an attack on another player. JIANGHU mode which will enables you from initiating an attack. INFAMY mode will enable you to attack whenever and whoever you want to attack, basically killer mode. You may also enjoy PvP in a lot of features like Arena/Martial Palace, Open world PvP, Sect Wars etc. One thing players enjoy the most in a Martial Arts MMO is PvP and this game have it!

Final Verdict: The game on its own is "good" but the Pay to Win aspect of it is the WORST I have seen so far.

Ragnarok Journey Western Release Date Announced
After a short period of Closed Beta, Ragnarok Journey is now ready to launch on March 27 in the West. During the launch week there will be celebration events, including daily Boss dungeons, login rewards, and extra in-game rewards. Ragnarok Journey is a web game rebrands the Ragnarok franchise, with unique classes, auction house, emotes, marriage, mounts, and siege, etc.
The server will be opened on Monday at 7pm PDT. You can learn the daily log-in rewards at the official site. Implosion Studio's New Mobile Game Sdorica Opens Global Beta Sign-up
After a debut at Taipei Game Show last January, Rayark, a Taiwanese developer behind the world's most famous mobile games like Implosion has opened the closed beta registration for their upcoming mobile title Sdorica in global market.

Dragon Nest Mobile Guide: Equipment and Enhancement
Equipment in Dragon Nest Mobile has 4 different rates: C, B, A, and S. Among the 4, C-rated equipment has the lowest stats but is also the easiest to acquire in the game. It can be acquired simply from normal dungeons. B-rated equipment has higher stats than C-rated but with a higher amount of difficulty to acquire them. Accessories can be obtained directly from abyss difficulty dungeons while weapons and armors have to be combined by collecting the respective fragments in abyss dungeons. A -rated equipment is much stronger than B-rated but difficult to acquire. A-rated Abyss equipment can be obtained by exchanging abyss medals, dropped in high level abyss dungeons. A-rated Nest equipment can be crafted by collecting the necessary materials obtained from the Nest. For S-rated equipment, the only way to obtain them right now is through crafting using materials from the Sea Dragon Nest. S-rated equipment has the best stats and it naturally means they are the most difficult to obtain.

Equipment can be strengthened via enhancement, inserting dragon jade (龙玉) or enchanting to increase the power. Equipment enhancement required agate (玛瑙) and different enhancement requires different amount of agate. For example enhancement level of 20 and below requires 2 agates, 20 to 40 requires 2 blue agates and 40 to 60 requires 2 orange agates. Whenever equipment reaches enhancement level 20, 40 and 60, it requires green, blue and orange crystalline respectively to up tier before players are able to continue enhancing. In addition, different level of equipment has different maximum enhancement level. Equipment enhancement is one of the key ways to increase players’ combat power.

Other than equipment enhancement, equipment can also be slotted with dragon jades which provide additional stats to the equipment. Currently, there are 7 types of bonus stats that can be found in dragon jades. They are strength, agility, intelligence, vitality, magical damage, physical damage and critical chance. Headgear, upper body, lower body, gloves and footwear can be slotted with only strength, agility, intelligence, vitality dragon jades while accessories, main weapon and secondary weapon can only be slotted with magical & physical damage and critical chance. Players are recommended to slot their dragon jade according to their job’s primary stats to maximize their damage output.
