Sword Art Online Memory Defrag Review, A Pleasant Surprise

$

Animated series derived from a Light Novel of Reki Kawahara, Sword Art Online quickly became one of the most popular anime of the moment (for both good and bad reasons). As such, the series evolved past the animation to be exported to other media, including video games. After various adaptations on the consoles of Sony, each one representing the major arcs of the series, Sword Art Online has just landed on our mobiles. As you would expect with a production of this type, this Sword Art Online Memory Defrag is just another free-to-play multiplayer RPG based on the collection of characters. Does this make it a bad game? The answer is not as simple, as we will explain below.

An Amazing Art-Style

Let's start with the point that I found the most pleasant about Sword Art Online Memory Defrag, it’s graphics. If the quality of the graphics games of this type vary greatly depending on the license or the developer, it will be extremely difficult to attack Bandai Namco on the work done here. Everything from the launch screen to the UI of the game is bright and beautiful. Where we usually find ourselves faced with simple UIs, we find here a real gameplay thought for its support, which uses the gestures wisely to create controls both simple and complete. A very good performance that should be underlined. The developers truly did an amazing job and reproducing the atmosphere of the anime. The models of the characters, as well as their animations, were wonderfully directed and will surely delight lovers of Sword Art Online.

A Free To Play That Doesn’t Limit Free Players

Like many other titles based on a famous license (movies, TV shows, anime or even other games), this title invites players to relive the great arcs that compose it. In this case, it will be possible to play the intrigues from the first episode of Sword Art Online. Thus, besides the world of Sword Art Online, it will also be possible to experience that of ALfheim Online or Gun Gale Online. Within each major arc, we can find various stories sequences that are replays of the major events in the anime’s storyline, presented as missions that are played before, during, or after major fights. A quest structure that can not be classical, but in this case perfectly adapted, Sword Art Online based on a MMORPG .

As we mentioned in the introduction, this Sword Art Online Memory Defrag takes over the classical mechanics of the mobile free-to-play RPG genre. As always with this type of titles, it will be necessary to scout (summon), equip, train and evolve emblematic characters of the saga in order to fight for you. And as expected of a Fremium model, obtaining the characters and their equipment rests on a Gacha system (a sort of lottery for those not familiar with the term), as well as on a premium currency: the Memory Diamonds. Currency that will be possible to get by completing the levels and missions of the game, or simply by spending money. Basically enough to turn off players that dislike the whole Gacha system. Judging the game on this one point would, however, be a mistake, as unlike most titles of the genre, Sword Art Online Memory Defrag has decided to do things well.

To start, the game is very generous in reward, and it is extremely easy to collect enough Memory Diamonds to scout characters and their equipment. Then, and I believe that is a huge step in the right direction, the game does not have a stamina system recharging over time. If recent games like Fire Emblem Heroes and even ArcheAge begins greatly restrict the amount of time free-to-play players can spend in the game through a stamina system. Fire Emblem Heroes has it so bad that it is only possible to complete about 8 advanced levels a day with the current stamina regeneration rate, all to push players to spend money to play more. So you can imagine my surprise when I realised (and it took me quite a while) that Sword Art Online Memory Defrag decided to do away with this mechanic. It is therefore possible to chain unrestricted levels, whether to advance in the story, or simply to grind the required levels and materials to evolve your characters. This change, however minimal it may be, dramatically changes the perception of this title: for once, a free-to-play does not seem to push us to put the hand to the purse. And if you're used to this kind of game, you know how frustrating that can be.

Engaging and Dynamic Combat

Another flaw of the mobile RPG genre is that the player doesn’t always have much to do in combat. In ArcheAge Begins, for example, most of the fighting is done by the AI (raids aside), with players only being able to decide when and on whom to use their characters’ skills. And this could not be more different from the combat system of Sword Art Online Memory Defrag which leans severely on the sides of the Beat'em All and Hack 'n’ Slash genres. From the latter, it keeps the horizontal scrolling, as well as a small level of vertical scrolling, an element far from being insignificant as the placement of the characters proves to be paramount during the combat phases of game. Players indeed need to control the position of their characters on the stage to avoid certain patterns of attack Enemies, but also exploit their weaknesses by, for example, attacking them in the back.

Beyond just moving, you'll also need to manage your character's attacks, choose when and how to hit. Not only will you be able to exploit many types of simple attacks, but it will also be possible to launch, once you have accumulated enough mana, devastating special attacks that will have to be timed accurately to inflict maximum damage. The Party Switch mechanics which, as in the series, allows party members to switch places in battle and deal a huge amount of damage is also present. Here, it allows you to change the active character in your group (limited to 3 per party), ideal for turning a difficult fight in your favor.

Sword Art Online Defrag thus offers a comprehensive attack panel that you will have to learn to master. There are two additional mechanics devoted to defense. In a very conventional manner. Pressing and holding any part of the screen allows the active character to defend (and swiping while defending allows for a counter attack). As for dodging there are two possibilities; swiping up on the screen to jump, or swiping either left or right to dash in the direction. In the end, we end up with a very engaging combat system, which will require the player to invest themselves at each level traveled without spoiling everything since the whole game is played with a single finger thanks to touch controls that are extremely fluid.

Minor Flaws

Obviously, this Memory Defrag does not avoid some pitfalls, the main one being the obligation to be connected permanently. Beyond the fact that this can limit the playing spaces, this also has a significant impact on the energy consumption of the application. Like many other games of this type, Sword Art Online Memory Defrag will drain your battery quite quickly. A phenomenon accentuated by the absence of stamina which favors the long sessions of game. Another point that can cause problem: the management of the allies by the AI. It will indeed be possible to embark certain allies in every mission launched, so that they fight by your side. The worry is that these characters are controlled by an AI that is not always the brightest.

Conclusion

Yes, Sword Art Online is an umpteenth adaptation of a great Japanese license, in the form of a free-to-play RPG with all that implies, including certain defects inherent to the genre. As usual with this type of game, you will have to go through the eternal stage of the gacha machine, which here allows to recover new characters and equipment in exchange for a few tens of Memory Diamonds, the local premium currency. But the title does a lot correctly, starting with the fact that it is very generous with its players by regularly offering Memory Diamonds. Then, It offers a fairly complete gaming experience, and far from that proposed by its counterparts. Whether through its combat, which is quite technical and demanding, or thanks to small details, like the absence of stamina system that never limits the time the player can spend in the game. In the end, whether you're a fan of the original series or not, this Sword Art Online Memory Defrag deserves at least a try. Even those most refractory to the free-to-play RPG genre could find something to like about this title.

Ragnarok Spear of Odin VS Ragnarok Journey

Ragnarok Spear of Odin started its Closed Beta Test last week on March 23rd.

Followed by...

Ragnarok Journeywhich started its Closed Beta Test just 3 days ago on March 27th.

In case you're wondering, Ragnarok Online (RO1) is a very popular MMORPG that started way back 2002~. The game sprung many versions and in many platforms. One of which are the two games mentioned above. Since both started their Closed Beta Test recently, why not compare the 2 games and let's see what are the similarities between these games and the very first Ragnarok Online game, also what are the similarities between the two and what are their differences.

~PLATFORM~
MOBILE VS BROWSER

Ragnarok Spear of Odin can be played on Android Devices (also iOS in the future). The game can also be played on a Windows/Mac OS computer via emulator's.

Ragnarok Journey can be played via browser. You can use Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox etc to play this game. As long as your device supports these browsers and Flash player then you're good to go.

Playing these games will be based on your device capabilities. You may be able to play Ragnarok Spear of Odin on your Android Phone but you may not be able to play Ragnarok Journey since your phone browser may not have the needed application to run the game. You may also be able to play both at the same time, like in my case since I play on my Windows computer.

In a way, both games are similar to RO1 since both can be played in a Windows Computer which is the main platform of Ragnarok Online.

~GRAPHICS~
2D VS 3D

Ragnarok Journey uses 2D sprites while Ragnarok Spear of Odin is made up of 3D objects and environment. However, both uses the same isometric view that is a very familiar feature of Ragnarok Online. You may find that the sprites of Ragnarok Journey resembles much of RO1 more than the 3D objects of Ragnarok Spear of Odin, but the quality of 3D objects is undeniable.

~GAME CONTROLS~
Point Click VS Tap & Drag

In Ragnarok Spear of Odin you move around by tap, hold and drag the direction control button. You may also do the same method or assign direction keys if you are playing the game on an emulator.

Ragnarok Journey follows RO1 point click controls. You move around by clicking the desired destination. You also interact and basically do everything via click of a mouse/button.

~GAMEPLAY~
Automated VS Manual

Ragnarok Journey offers an automated gameplay where everything you need to do, you can just let the auto-track/move/kill system do it for you. Although this can be convenient to easily go through the boring part of questing, it also radiates a boring attitude to the players. In fact, most players i know who played this game complains about the almost fully automation of the game. The common player expression is "I feel like I'm not playing a game, but rather just watching it.". Please take note that you can turn off the auto-do-everything system by pressing A key or changing the settings under setup.

Ragnarok Spear of Odin offers an engaging, challenging, addictive and muscle cramping gameplay. You do everything via smashing buttons using both of your hands. The game storyline is also present and well written which influence your quest line. You move from dungeons to dungeons upon waves and waves of monsters. Although fun and engaging, it is also tiring. I highly suggest that you take a break, chat with your friends, do some crafting, read the card specs etc every once in a while. If you are using an emulator, I suggest that you use the WASD and number pad keys.

Both games do have a very popular similarity with RO1... you have to kill a lot of monsters to level up. Hardcore Grind fest.

~CHARACTER & CLASSES~

Ragnarok Journey offers the known list of initial Classes you can choose from RO1. The same with RO1, you start as a novice and choose one of the 6 initial classes which advance to another set of different classes once the requirements are met. You may also choose between a male or female character on the character creation.

Ragnarok Spear of Odin starts with a gender locked character creation. The classes are also locked base on the gender which is Male for Swordsman, which later on advance into a Knight or a Warrior. Female for Mage which will advance into either a Wizard or a Sorcerer. Although it seems limited, the game itself offers at least 4 different weapon and advance class combo on each initial class. Currently there are only 2 available initial class to choose from, but a sneak peak of the Thief class is already visible.

Both games offers a lot of possibilities on your character builds, skills, stats etc. Although Ragnarok Journey rely on the same system as RO1, the Card+Equipment+WeaponSystem+AdvanceClass of Ragnarok Spear of Odin offers a new and more complex character build up.

VERDICT: Both games have their shining and dim moments. If you want a more RO1 feeling, convenient and easy game that you can just forget about it after an hour then I suggest you try Ragnarok Journey. If you want a challenging, addictive, complex, and fun version of RO1 then a highly suggest you play Ragnarok Spear of Odin.

Do you agree with the final result? Any objection, reaction or clarification about the review? Please don't hesitate to post your comments below!

The War of Genesis 4: Spiral Genesis Will Shut Down in May

Fresh ideas aren't necessarily making a game successful, and The War of Genesis 4: Spiral Genesis is another example. The game started open beta in South Korea in March 2016 and it didn't go any further into a commercial launch in the past year. The developer announced that the game will be shut down on May 1, and all paid services will be disabled starting March 31, and players can apply for refunds before April 30.

The game allows you to form a squad of 5 heroes and use the number buttons to switch between different heroes. The heroes you choose will grant unique chain skills for your squad. There's a feature called Epiphany, with which players can access to dark magic and summon siege weapon to battle against huge monsters.

The game had an 8-year-long development period but it was not as lucky as Kingdom Under Fire 2, which took 9 years to develop. KUF2 will be coming to the west later this year, and The War of Genesis 4 will never make it.

Western players can expect to play The War of Genesis Mobile Remake in the future.

Although Overwatch isn’t going to be a competitive VR shooter, and Blizzard is still waiting for VR to become maturer, Blizzard is actually working on VR and they are ready to test it in Overwatch, with a new arcade mode called Omniums Invasion. It’s an experience you can only play in VR and it supports Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR headsets.

Omniums Invasion is a PvE mode, where you invade an Omniums factory to shut down the facilities and Omnic robots there. You’ll face some familiar Omnic robots including Bastion, Orisa, Zenyatta and others like Okoro, Mondatta and different Sentry bots. If you choose to play a DPS hero, you can choose a supportive hero controlled by AI to help you. If you prefer to play as Mercy or Reinhardt and heroes who can’t deal a lot of damage, you can pick up a computer-controlled DPS hero to finish the mission with you. Besides, the Omniums Factory map is a linear map that has only one path.

Blizzard said Omniums Invasion is the first step they enter the VR market, and they have planned several other VR game modes for the future. Omniums Invasion will be coming summer 2017. Blizzard will reveal more details later including information of the final boss. The question is will you buy a VR headset to play this mode?

Ragnarok Journey: 10 Servers Merge into 1 just 5 Days after Game Launch

Ragnarok Journey is another browser based MMORPG of the popular Ragnarok Online game. Just 3 days ago, I compared the game to another Ragnarok Online game (Mobile version) and if you want to know more about both games, please CLICK HERE.

Ragnarok Journey was released just 5 days ago on March 27th. Many players showed their dismay about this move as the game was just released. In my own point of view, it is really a bad move since the game's "interesting" features rely heavily on high population count (PvP, GvG, ET etc).

So I was not really shocked when I saw this post:

However...the Merge plan was not shared on facebook.

Not until March 31st, the day right next to April 1st. We all know that April 1st is the "April Fools Day". So I waited until today, April 2nd to confirm if this is real.

Well...
Guess they really over estimated their game popularity.

So far this is the only game I know that did an ALL SERVERS merg in less than a week after being launched.

Is it really expected for the game to do a server merge? Is it too early for a merge? Do you agree that it is best to merge all servers into 1? Please tell us your opinion in the comment section below.

Thanks!

Recommended MMOs and Multiplayer Games in April 2017

For the month of April, we have compiled a collection of MMOs and Multiplayer Games for you to enjoy from a variety of different publishers and companies. I hope you enjoy~!

Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade - Free To Play

Having released last year,
Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade didn’t achieve the skyscraping values and expectations of what the Warhammer community wanted, but saying that I guess a positive in the matter is that the game has gone “Free-To-Play” in a sense. The base game is still available to buy however, there is also a free “version” which DID limit your capabilities in the game which you wouldn’t have in the paid version. The limitations slowed down your progression and limited you to selecting one class. This is a well-planned marketing strategy that lets you get a feel for the game in a sense which other games have adapted to in the past. On March 16th, Behaviour Digital made some special changes to the Free version of the game which originally limited your capabilities in the game. However, now, the Free version is much like the normal; offering 4 out of 5 classes to pick from and normal progression rate.

Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade is a Third Person, Squad-based tactical shooter in which the player picks one of the many factions at war to fight for victory with their team in a PVP (60+) or PVE (5 vs AI) match. With thousands of weapons, armors, and accessories to pick from you will be able to customize your character to the way you want him to be.

Since the official launch in September 2016, the following updates/improvements/features have been included.
  • Start of Campaigns
  • New Game Modes and Maps
  • New Weapons, Powers, and Wargear
  • New Character Progression and Customization
  • General Improvements, Balancing, and Overhauls
  • Game Server, Client, and Network Optimizations
Having said the following above, I would say in my own, personal opinion that it’s worth taking a look at this game since there is no downside to testing it out, especially since you don’t have to go through a paywall to get a feel for the game with no extreme limitations.

Blade & Soul - Secrets of the Stratus Update

Being the second major update of 2017, Blade & Soul introduces an update with a vast array of new challenges to venture into on April 12th:
Secrets of the Stratus. NCSoft has had plenty of changes over the time of being released based on their “community feedback” which has led them to make a conclusion of making their updates more impactful. Their goal over the past year has been catch up with the other regions while maintaining a good balance between accessible and challenging content. In other words, they are going to make each and every update from here on out more jam-packed and feature-rich with content. With this upcoming update they will show you by what they mean by Impactful content by the following.
  • Act 7: The 7th act of the story-line will introduce new characters and you will track down Zulia, who has captured and stolen Jinsoyun.
  • Gunwon City: This is a brand new capital for you and your friends to explore and hang-out in.
  • Skill Point Revamp: This will streamline and simplify how you distribute your points for your particular spec of your class.
  • New PvE Areas: Nayu Sanctum, Celestial Basin, and Mushins Tower F16-F20.
  • The Hongmoon Training Room is a solo arena that will let you practice your skill and combos against a variety of enemies and bosses.
  • Achieve a new level of greatness: Hongmoon Level 20
  • Instantly boost to Level 50!
  • Plenty of skill balancing changes, items, cosmetics, and quality of life improvements.

Based on the content in this patch and what they have said would be done over their future updates, it seems as if Blade & Soul is trying to make up for their past mistakes and discretions. They mentioned they have lots of more content to disclose in the upcoming months and all throughout 2017 and beyond such as; Act 8 of the storyline, a brand new class (most likely the Gun wielding class), a level cap increase, new ultimate skills, new dungeons and raids, and new legendaries along with many other cosmetics and a constant stream of ingame events

Blade & Soul is a Free-to-Play (F2P) MMORPG which has lots of challenging content to be explored and ventured into with a diversity of classes. This is game is worth at least taking a look at since it’s free and has some pretty amazing combat with beautiful visuals along with a decent grind.

Heroes of the Storm 2.0 Open Beta

Blizzards’ one-of-a-kind multiplayer battle arena game,
Heroes of the Storm, is kicking off their 2.0 Update with a month long Open-Beta test. This highly sought-after update withholds many features that players have been wanting for quite a while. Some of the major features of the update includes an all-new progression and rewards system, tons of new cosmetic and vanity items,Hero customization options, and tons of more interface and balancing changes.

Stated on the official page, the team who works for Heroes of the Storm is always looking for data and information that the players may find from within the game. This would tremendously help them find all sorts of bugs before the official live release.

If by any means you get confused on how to play the Open Beta of the 2.0 version please follow the instructions that I give below, via Update Page. Also as a note, that all your items and progression played/achieved in the Open Beta test will not be saved or transferred when the Beta concludes and the Live Update launches. Heroes of the Storm is a one of a kind game in a sense that it harvests many of your favorite Blizzard characters from the rest of their amazing games. I personally am not a major fan of MOBA/RTS games even though they are probably at the top of the list when it comes to game genres. So in all, if you enjoy helping out Blizzard, by playing their games, and enjoy many of their iconic characters, go ahead and check this game out; considering it has a Free-To-Play business model.

Final Fantasy XIV- Unlimited Free Trial

Square Enix is pleased to announce the removal of their limited time free trial of their big-hit themepark MMO,
Final Fantasy XIV. This basically means that instead of the limited 14 days you would normally get to test the game for free, you will have an indefinite time to play for as long as you want. If you are pleased with how you enjoyed the game so far, you may want to consider upgrading your account from the Free Trial to the Full Version.

FFXIV is an amazing game which I have personally put many hours into. It has its own way of sticking out with its dedicated player-base and it’s richness in gameplay and lore. This is a subscription based model of a game, so the free-trial will let you get a taste of what the game feels like up until level 32. Additionally, FFXIV is releasing their 2nd major expansion, Stormblood, this upcoming this Summer, so there is no better time to jump into the game and have lots of fun.

The Exiled - Season 2

The Exiled is a fast-paced PvP game set in a forsaken wold. The game world you play in will last up into about a month. While this month-long campaign goes along, Open World PvP and Looting will occur which will balance risk vs reward for all of the players. You can do many things from crafting equipment, constructing towns, to exploring the many different environments while playing with an isometric view. You are able to play the game for free for 7-days and then after your play time has exceeded the time limit you will be required to buy a support pack to continue your journey.
In their new update, Season #2, they have introduced new servers and plenty of new features.
  • Party System: You are able to form parties with your friends and while doing this y’all share EXP and you can see each other on the map.
  • Diplomacy System: Clan leaders and managers can add other clans to either a friend or enemy list of their choosing. All of your clan members will recognise the tags of the other clans to notify who they are and your allegiance toward them.
  • The Healer: They have also added the healer (cloth) armour to the game with lots of support oriented abilities, This is a still work-in-progress class and they would love your feedback. This new class also come with a new ability type, links, which will open new gameplay types for allies.

Hearthstone - Journey to Un’Goro
Hearthstone will be releasing their 5th expansion, Journey to Un’Goro, on April 6th featuring 135 new and collectable cards at your disposal. This new expansion also introduces the new Adapt mechanic, the new Quest card type, and also the new Elemental minion type. Journey to Un’Goro is set in the primordial mists of Un’Goro crater, where the expansion sees Elise Starseeker leading an expedition to explore this region. This region includes new and giant Dinosaurs, raging elementals, and some unusually active plants.

If you are at all curious how to obtain these new cards it is more or less the same as the previous expansions. You can obtain them by purchasing the card packs through the in-game shop, crafted using Arcane Dust, and also as well as a guaranteed card pack with each run of the Arena.

Along with the release of this new expansion will be a Launch Event to those loyal players who enjoy playing the game. Three new tavern brawls will occur on March 15th, 22nd, and 29th, which reward you with a Journey to Un’Goro card pack for your first win. There will also be a daily login reward given out until the official release which is already going on, so you better start playing now! If you pre purchase the game now you will also get a bonus 50 card backs of the Journey to Un’Goro variety which will help you build your deck straight from the start.

Hearthstone seems like a really fun and polished TCG, which withholds many iconic World of Warcraft characters. Being a Free-To-Play game and tons to do, I would totally recommend this game if you are looking for something new to play and to just relax and have fun. Having already 5 expansions to this game, there is lots to do from challenging other players, building your own, unique decks, to going through their new adventures that each expansion brings into the game.

Revelation Online Review - A Fantasy Inspired Chinese MMORPG

Information
Revelation Online is a Chinese MMORPG that after a long wait finally released in the West. From the first moment you log-in you’ll notice that the game is quite different in gameplay than other Korean MMORPGs. And that different is good. Revelation tries to take all of the elements prominently featured in MMORPGs and stuffs them into one game. The question is,did they do a good job with it or is it just a bunch of random mechanics?

Gameplay and Mechanics
In the first 30 levels maybe the game treats you like a baby. You will click “F,” the button signifying Interact, more than any other on your keyboard as the story guides you from one destination to the next without ever giving the player time to absorb whatever it is that's going on. Quests involve collecting a few items or killing a handful of mobs, before scooting you along to the next area. It's so quick you can't process how the world is connected. It doesn't even give you that much time to process the characters or the story. The breakneck pacing feels tacky, though many other games are equally guilty. It’s browser design principles imbued in a mainstream PC experience. Luckily, it does eventually ease up and you can appreciate you classes' combat prowess.

The combat is very enjoyable and fun , no matter the class you play. It’s a bit of an odd mixture. When you first start playing you're given three options to fight: keyboard, mouse, or action combat. As a melee class I chose action, but the action combat schema is still at its foundation a tab-targeting system—your character locks onto the nearest mob. Though combat’s fast-paced nature makes it feel fluid and varied, separating it from traditional tab-targeting games.Although I think they should just stick to one type of combat as some aren't as effective in PvP as others.

Abilities are bound to your mouse buttons; 1-5; then Q, E, R, T, G; and F1 through F6. There’s a lot to absorb. And I found myself using the majority of my abilities during combat. Combat is playing your keyboard like a guitar, constantly moving across the keys as you dish out attacks. The variety of moves keeps combat engaging, demanding player’s attention. It's just really fun and easy to use your skills. Some classes, such as the Occultist, can switch stances from DPS to healing completely changing their schema so that, in a sense, you have two classes in one, which quickly became my favourite class.

During a fight you will move constantly. Telegraphs and monstrous attacks force you to dodge, and some attacks even require jumping to avoid damage. Combat is dynamic and fun. At least when you're fighting bosses. But for typical mobs you’ll group up as many as you can and then unleash all of your abilities at once to wipe them out, which in some cases is harder than it sounds.

PvP, as you might have guessed plays a large role in Revelation Online. At level 40 and up you can enter Battlegrounds which play out like a MOBA-esque type of game. You run down lanes, as NPC warriors clash, and kill the members of the other team. The first team to obtain 100 kills wins. It’s total chaos. It's a place to spam all of your abilities or pick the stragglers as they try to flee. Fun to stomp on other players, which means you want to be the one with the best gear in the fight. Otherwise, you’re going to struggle to obtain a kill, which kinda sucks knowing that it's not that balanced and you won't be reliant only on your skills.

There are also arena duels, either solo, or in 3v3 battles. The arena involves a level of skill and tactics. World PvP also exists, but both parties have to be willing to fight. Otherwise the attacker earns a killer mark, making it possible that they will drop some of their gear if killed. It’s a system that diminishes the appetite for World PvP.

Other Stuff About the Game
Revelation Online is a game that can be described as pretty and reheated pea soup at the same time. Environments are often beautiful at a distance, and then lose their details as you get closer. That’s because there are various quality textures trying to mesh together, and they just can't. Though it looks good while you're running through the maps.

The biggest issue is a delayed pop-in that hurts initial impressions of the game’s world. Even your character's armor will sometimes take a second to load in its details, breaking the illusion or the smoothness of the game.

Most impressive is Revelation Online’s enemy designs. The originality immediately apparent after your first dungeon, though there’s no visual harmony between the game's various bosses, or a sense of narrative purpose for their existence. Again, Revelation Online's style is drawing from various influences. However, you’ll rarely kill trope mobs: boars, kobolds, etc. Empressive, yet they don't make sense...

The most off-putting aspect of Revelation Online is its convolution: multiple currencies, an overwhelming number of items, difficult to ascertain quest objectives. You’re not eased into RO’s world. You transition from baby-step story quests to, “Here you are. Now figure out what everything does.” It’s easy to feel lost, confused, misguided. You might have to check guides and wikis to figure out the purpose of one item or another, including crafting and gathering which seem obscure because of their user interface presentation. Meanwhile, icons in the bottom-right of your UI represent anywhere from one to five elements, so that you find yourself hovering over each to see if it contains the character sheet you need. The smorgasbord looks like a browser game trying to act deep using a big amount of random buttons.

Pros:
  • Game is addicting and fast-paced
  • Beautiful Graphics
  • Different keyboard settings for combat
  • Fun fighting system
Cons:
  • Slow loading details and some graphics don't mix well together
  • Nothing really makes much sense - it's pretty, enjoy it
  • The game treats you like a baby until a pretty high level and then leaves you on your own
  • Although there's a long "tutorial" phase the game still doesn't really teach you some important things you'll need to know from guides
  • Has some bugs and issues

Overall I recommend this game to anyone that wants to try something new.It is unique. I just feel like they tried to mix too much games into one. Personally not my favorite but I fell in love with the Occultist class.Armor looks neat too :3.As it's not the best it's still worth your time to try out!

The game is developed by Caret Games but the developer hasn't revealed too much information. You can take a sneak peek from 2 trailers below. Card Thief: Can This Card Game Steal Hearts Too?

$

Hot on the heels of Indy Game week That Apple had, Card Thief puts you in the shoes of an anthromophoric Magpie that steals from the rich and presumably does not give to the poor. Gameplay is rather hard to explain but I ill try my best.

You are the Magpie, and you need to move over each card, careful to not interact with guards unless they are not facing you or unless they are not under a torch. when you move over a torch, it extuinguishes and you move on. Once a torch is extinguished, it alerts the guards who then actively search for you. The object of the game, is to get through half of the deck safely to reveal the treasure. Get the treasure and safely get through the rest of the card deck until the door card pops up. Then get out of there. You cancel out the cards just by moving over them.

I posted a short video of me playing so you can see how the gameplay mechanics work. Over all, I feel this game is for the people who think moves ahead, as in chess players but this game and it's art style did steal my heart as well as my time.

What do you think? Have you played this yet? What did you think? Let me know in the comments below.

Space hero MMORPG Ship of Heroes has launched Kickstarter campaign, aiming at raising $400,000 in a month. The developer Heroic Games wants to recreate the atmosphere and feel of City of Heroes but also offers better graphics (Unreal Engine 4), meaningful character creation choices, tons of powersets to choose from, and many other improved mechanics. Ship of Heroes is a combination of hero and space games.

The game sets in a huge Free Human Ship Justice, which is a generation ship traveling between planets, colonies and space stations on the rim of the Human Federation.

Previously, developers had already demonstrated the user interface, the combat mechanics and impressive character customization. The ship is composed of various levels and as you progress, you will move from one ship level (or deck) to another, gaining powers and fighting stronger enemies.

The game is expected to be available for backers in June 2019.
