No major titles on the horizon for this month, but we still have an open beta, an early access sandbox and some other interesting games. If you are still enjoying your old titles, and you don’t really fall for these new games, share with us what makes your favorite game so special, and how does it retain your interest for a long period of time?
LawBreakers
LawBreakers has recently launched a few days ago, so if you want to try a new team-based first person shooter where even the laws of physics can be shattered, now it’s the perfect time. The game is currently on sale for 29.99 euros and is available on PS4 and PC.
Even though it has a lot of competition in this genre (some people are even saying that it came up late to the party), with titles like Overwatch or Battleborn, LawBreakers brings various new gameplay mechanics such as the zero-gravity regions of the map, mixed with a cool anti-grav combat. Don’t know why, but for me it also brought a lot of nostalgic feelings from old-school games like Unreal Tournament.
When you’ll jump into your first match of LawBreakers, you’ll be struck by one particular element that makes the gameplay stand out, the combat is ultra-fast. You’ll get to use weapons that do a ton of damage and jetpacks that allows you to travel at hyper speed. You’ll probably need a few hours to get used with the combat system and the zero-gravity environment, but it will be a lot of fun.
Lawbreakers also features a decent number of playable characters that move and attack in different ways. For example, the assassin char that has a special dodge allowing her to change directions in mid-air and a grapple hook to get on top of that aerial combat. For the map objectives, we usually have dominating points on the map or capture the flag filled with nonstop action. The only flaw I found is that there is no character story, to make you feel something for your hero.

Ragnarok Restart is the latest progressive server from iRO’s, trying to bring some old 2013 nostalgia feelings with a fast-paced fantasy MMORPG.
The server allows players to rediscover and re-evolve the world for one more time (maybe the last one), starting with the pre-Renewal content, mixed with pre-Renewal and Renewal mechanics. Ragnarok Restart will also bring a few different convenience features from the latest versions, such as RODEX and Achievements.
Developers also promised that each month, Ragnarok Restart will get a new update or an expansion, unlocking additional content and moving towards Ragnarok Online. We are familiar with this concept from other games like Lineage 2 Classic.
There are a ton of changes made for this project so you should pay attention to the patch notes from the official site, in order to make a well-educated decision, if this is the version you are looking for.
The Fall of Oriath, also labeled as Path of Exile 3.0 is now live. This expansion brought a lot of core changes, especially regarding the end game and replayability. Oriath comes with six new acts, a new story progression, a ton of new skills and a brand new system called Pantheon. This system will grant players that kill a unique boss or a God if you prefer it that way, with an important buff. For example, during the Beta phase, killing the Soul of the Brine King gave an anti-frozen, anti-stun buff.
The new acts, labeled 5 to 10 are streaming the leveling experience while removing the three well known difficulty systems. During these acts you will notice a few gameplay mechanics changes such as the damage over time rework, the bleed and poison ailments, and a revamped energy shield that will impact a lot of well-known builds.
Path of Exile the Fall of Oriath comes with additional graphic effects and a very well done optimization that makes the game run smoothly, even on older systems. You know, better FPS for better DPS.
For those of you, owning an Xbox One, we have some great news also, as PoE is getting a port soon (we already have a beta phase for it). The servers will be separate and there won’t be any delays for the PC patches as they already have separate development teams for each version.
With that being said, be sure to check the official site.
Fortnite is a future free to play survival sandbox, filled with post-apocalyptic zombies. I said future f2p, because if you want to take part in the early access phase you’ll have to empty your pockets for $59.99
For the current state, the game looks really fun. The action evolves around building and defending a structure against wave of zombies. In the beginning you run around chopping and collecting various resources in order to craft different items and structures. These actions don’t really feel that repetitive and annoying like in other survival games, maybe because the action happens a lot quicker, and feels like you are playing an old school arcade.
>> Fortnite First Impressions, Tower Defense Meets Survival: Is It Worth Buying?
After finishing gathering the required mats, you get back to your designated area where you will build a fort by placing floors, walls, roofs, traps, etc. You will have to uncover the architect that lays dormant in you. At a specific time, the zombies will come crawling over your base, and you will have to defend it, by going on a little 3rd person shooter mode. Those traps are not going to do all your work after all.
Although the combat is pretty simple, each character have some unique skills or special abilities, overall is quite satisfactory. At a base level I feel like Fortnite is a good mix of tower defense and survival. Unfortunately the game is not really an MMO as it’s designed for 4 player co-op (great if you play it with friends).
The progression is based on a map, with different missions, advancing and unlocking higher difficulty challenges, and grinding your way to the top. You will also have a persistent home based, and there will be missions that will send you back to it, in order to upgrade it and defend it against, you guess, more advanced (at least by armor and life points) zombies.

If you already played the first title, and most important, if you enjoyed it, than you will feel like home in Destiny 2.
The current beta is quite limited, you only get one strike mission, a solo mission where you spawn your character (you don’t get to customize it) and you default play as a warlock, titan or hunter. The guns works and feels similar to the original Destiny, but there a few changes in combat such as the new abilities. For example the Warlock can activate a damage or a healing boost, the titan places two types of shields and the hunter gets a mobility special that either reloads your weapon or refreshes your melee cooldown. The subclasses could be better, but I guess they were pleased with how they were in the previous title.
As for the missions, we get a lot more story focused, especially during the Homecoming mission where you get to feel like you are a part of the world and you don’t treat it like just another loot grind, at least in the initial phase. The boss encounters are now more dynamic, and not just a bullet sponge encounter. It felt really fresh and challenging.
The PvP, at least in this stage, looks a lot like the original, besides the new classes that add a little variations. Be ready to get owned by Hunters, their mobility ability really shines in PvP.
You can join the beta right now by pre-ordering Destiny 2 from here.
