Aura Kingdom, the once proud flagship of X-Legend's Entertainment. A MMORPG that made an obscure Taiwanese based MMORPG Developer into a global icon. It's been sometime since we heard anything from Aura Kingdom. Some have even considered the game to be "dead". So, we at the
Guilty Crown Gaming community decided to investigate these claims and stopped by on the NA/EU Servers of Aura Kingdom.
There we met one of the oldest surviving guilds of Aura Kingdom and decided to ask them what their take is on the current status of the game. Guild Regal of the server Siren.
Hi Ewelina, thanks very much for agreeing to this interview. Could you start off by telling us a little bit about yourself as you’re pretty much a mystery to most of us!
Im a 23y.o girl gamer from Poland (gonna move to USA in few months tho) and I’ve been playing Aura Kingdom for a long time now. I actually started playing on the Taiwan server a few years ago and liked it so I played in test beta, closed beta, open beta, and general release for the NA version.
So a lot of us are curious of what's happening in AK, but Aura Kingdom has been pretty silent over the past year, what's the current status of Aura Kingdom? Is there any new notable content that is absolutely breathtaking and addicting?
We had a few content updates but they are slow in coming, meanwhile the TW version has like x100 more things than us and they get updated pretty frequently (not to mention a bunch of new costumes/mounts that we still dont have and they have had for like half a year). Lately Aeria has been giving us a content update every month so things may change. Now what everyone is waiting for is the new class aka Great Sword which is supposed to come out in a week or so. I hope people’s interest in the game will increase after this.
Obviously being one of the oldest known Aura Kingdom guilds still alive, what's Regal's current assessment of Aura Kingdom? Do you guys still find the game fun as the day it came out? How are you spending your time in-game?
The day it came out I guess it was more difficult for us than fun to be honest haha. We had to struggle through dungeons with total noob gear, without a single clue on game mechanics. This usually ended in even tanks getting one shotted by the boss and sometimes even failing the dungeon. Maybe for other people the game isn’t as fun as before but when you are in a guild everything is fun and everyday can be different because someone hits a new goal, or finished some achievement or found a rare drop or even irl things come up and we share them with each other . About spending time in-game we do guild dungeon runs, fish together, help each other improve our gear or skills, play with the card system (most recent content and pretty addicting), hunt world bosses, go to Sky Tower as a guild and just fool around in general on guild chat or RaidCall. Sometimes we sing for each other and it’s a lot of fun.
Obviously as a player, I have to ask you this question. What is your favorite class in Aura Kingdom?
BARD. For me it’s the best class that fits me . Of course it’s a support class but it also works perfectly as a tank and if u can build it really well then it works as a really good dps too . So in my opinion it is a 3 in 1 class The only bad side of being a bard is leveling because at least in the beginning you need to depend on others for dps to do some dungeons and when you are a low level and try to join a random party you get rejected most of time, sadly. Thats why I would recommend joining a good guild because they will be able to offer you advice on building your character and help you out when you need to clear a dungeon.
How's the in-game economy? Would a new fresh player stand a chance if they started Aura Kingdom today?
It would be hard but at the same time many things got easier to get so I think it wouldn’t be a big problem especially if you got help from a guild/friends. There are lots of ways to make gold that don’t require extremely good gear such as cooking and gathering, and fishing is also okay for making some gold. End game gear is expensive but at the same time you can still get it from running solo dungeons which are a lot easier compared to the party and hell modes so I wouldn’t say it’s impossible. Although some of this is based on RNG so sometimes that is frustrating. The good news is a lot of the gold making methods aren’t based on luck and if you work hard you can easily get good gear.
Are you recruiting? How can prospective guildies reach you in or outside the game? Promotion is never enough!
Yes we are recruiting all the time but we are not spamming it on world chat or anything, we are not particularly desperate for as many people as we can get but if someone were to ask we would easily let them in. As I mentioned we have no requirements. Where can they reach me or learn anything they need about the guild? I guess the forum thread, we also have a RaidCall, and a facebook group page ^^ I’m trying to reply to everyone asap through these mediums.
That Regal Thread Any advice you want to give to potential returning players or new players?
Run. Haha I’m just kidding. Find some connections to people who know what they are doing. It’s a lot better than running around like a headless chicken. You’ll have more fun and you’ll level and make gold faster. You’ll also have a bunch of new friends and that’s always a bonus. Don’t ask for free stuff though. That gets old really fast. Oh yeah one more thing.
Okay Ewelina thanks very much for your time and I wish you all the best at the continue success of Regal.
So based on this small sample interview. We can conclude that the current status of Aura Kingdom is "Stagnant". This may be due to the reason of X-Legend's Entertainment directing their focus on some of their newer AAA Titles such as Astral Realms Online.
However despite that, there seems to be a loyal playerbase for Aura Kingdom attempting to keep the playerbase fresh and lively. Though its far from Aura Kingdom's glory days.
To any prospective new players, based on this short interview. Any attempts to go into Aura Kingdom would be an up-hill battle. As end-game content may be difficult to reach without certain "connections". It would appear Aura Kingdom community has fallen into a "Monopolistic-Nature" where few key indvidiuals or guilds hold control over end-game progression.
In short, tackling end-game material alone would look something like this
