Maplestory Mobile G-STAR Hands on: More Interative than Pocket Maplestory

0
0

Nexon showcased Maplestory Mobile at this year's G-STAR for the first time and noted that it is the 2nd Maplestory mobile game, completely different from Pocket Maplestory. Then what's the differences between the two titles? Well, below are some features of Maplestory Mobile:
  • MapleStory Mobile has 5 starting classes, rather than 3 characters in Pocket Maplestory.
  • Maplestory Mobile will be more interative than Pocket Maplestory.
  • Delivers a mobile gaming experience that feels just as good as the original MapleStory. It can even say that Maplestory Mobile is a 100% transplant of Maplestory series.
  • There is an auto fighting system in Maplestory Mobile but the benefit from the auto fighting is less and players can only stay in the dungeons for a limited period of time and the benefit is decreasing with time passing by.

Below are two hands on trailers from Korean media thisisgame

Fedeen Games Announces a New Anime-gothic RPG for Android and iOS

0
0
After releasing the new gameplay of Forsaken World Mobile, Fedeen Games announces a new mobile game - Pocket Gothic. This particular game is a side-scrollingAction-RPG that features a blend of dark horror theme mixed with a slightly more cute anime look. This just means the characters have a bit more of a cute aesthetic to them, but the overall game's theme is more of a dark horror type. Check out the trailer below.

In Pocket Gothic players will have four different classes to choose from: Dragoon, Spellsword, Gunslinger, and Arcanist. The first two classes are focused on melee-based combat, while the last two feature more ranged-style combat. Dragoon is more of a warrior/tank type of class, while the Spellsword mixes both magic and sword fighting. Gunslinger is fairly obvious, while the Arcanist is all about elemental-based spells.

After you have picked your character's class, you will then head off to take on a variety of different monsters all bent on killing you. Unfortunately this is about the extent of the details we know so far about Pocket Gothic. We do, however, have a teaser trailer to check out which you can with the video above.

There is also an official micro-site for Pocket Gothic but that doesn't seem to be live just yet. When it does go live though there will be a pre-registration sign-up available for Pocket Gothic and anyone who does so will receive some in-game rewards when it launches. We will post an update once the site is live. Right now there is no specific release date, but when it does arrive it will be free to download.

Chinese veteran MMO developer Seasun Entertainment unveils a mysterious new title Projest: Extopia at G-STAR 2015 today. This is the first time Seasun presents this title to the public. The company's CEO Zhou Tao says the game is an important MMO in the company's strategy.

According to report, the project is developed by a new team in Seasun that consists of a group of FPS enthusiasts come from several different countries. From the images that have been revealed, my guess is Projest: Extopia is a sci-fi shooter with a post-apocalypse feeling. The screenshots below are taken from the alpha build and the graphics quality can be better in the final state.

Bless Got Delayed Indefinitely to Improve the Game

If you are looking forward to get your hands on Neowiz's Unreal Engine 3 powered Bless Online, you might need to wait a bit longer as the development team are not happy with how Bless it is now and decided to delay the game indefinitely to improve 9 game elements, including server technology, user interface (UI), character customization, quest system, and combat (movement, dungeon difficulty etc). (thanks MMOCulture).

However, a small Focus Group Test will resume in December in South Korea. As for the western release, it is still not confirmed yet but what can be sure is that western players got to wait for a long time if it ever has a western release plan.

For those who are curious about how Bless looks like in the last closed beta test, here's a hands on game trailer for your reference.

Hearthstone Arena Matchups: Rogue

0
0

Welcome to Arena Matchups series! In this installment, we’ll explore strategies against Warlocks in the Arena. Matchup knowledge might seem less important in the Arena than in constructed, since players don’t have consistent access to the most powerful cards and strategies. However, it’s crucial to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the classes, and know how your opponent’s class aims to win. Armed with this knowledge, you can play to your own strengths and pummel your opponent where they’re most vulnerable. This time I’ll cover the Rogue matchup.

Rogue in arena

Rogue is considered the most tempo based class in the game. This is due to powerful class cards which cost too little in exchange for conditional requirements ( Backstab) or combo (Eviscerate,SI:7 Agent). In addition Rogue has best early game hero power which gives 2 damage over 2 turns for 2 mana and has highest damage to cost ratio hero power in the game. Also Rogue has a big assortment of weapons and weapon buffs which contribute
even more to Rogue’s tempo. Just like Warlock Rogue sacrifices health for card advantage

Strengths

Tempo class cards: As mentioned Rogue has class cards that generate a lot of tempo in exchange for combo. This means that Rogue will usually use some cards inefficiently or just straight up lose a card (Sap) just so she can combo cards to use their full potential. Doing that will cause Rogue to sacrifice card advantage. A huge counter to Rogue are board clears like Flamestrike or Hellfire. The board clears destroy all the tempo Rogue got. And once you use a board clear unless the Rogue has Sprint, she won’t be able to rebuild the board and you will eventually win the game.
Weapons and weapon buffs: Like Warrior, Rogue has many weapons and some weapon buffs. Rogue will always be able to get a 1/2 dagger so the buffs always land on the weapon and Rogue utilises them instantly. If you have weapon removal make sure to utilise it efficiently and not waste it. Weapons give Rogue tempo and card advantage in exchange for health which goes down fast for Rogues.

Burst potential: Rogue is one of the classes with a possibility of huge burst. Something like a Deadly Poison and 2 eviscerates will deal 11 damage. Obviously the possibilities with Tinker’s Sharpsword Oil are huge. Therefore be mindful of your health total as Rogue can burst you down quickly
Removal: Rogue is a class with a lot of both small and hard removal options. The removals make it so you will want to play more smaller minions instead of big ones. For example you would rather play a Chillwind Yeti and a Bloodfen Raptor instead of one Boulderfist Ogre. Because in most cases your Ogre will either get sapped or assassinated.

Weaknesses:

Health: The biggest disadvantage Rogue has. Since Rogue gains card advantage and tempo using health, this means often face is the place. If you go face instead of trading and eventually get Rogue to around 10 hp you will either scare the Rogue of her current life total which will make all of her weapons go to your face only instead of trading at which point Rogue’s hero power and weapon buffs become essentially useless as long as you have a decent amount of health left for yourself.
Board clear: Rogue has a lack of reliable board clears. Only AoE Rogue has are Fan of Knives and Blade Flurry. Fan of Knives only does 1 damage and Blade Flurry is very unreliable because before the matches you can’t know how much damage you will be able to deal. Because Rogue doesn’t have a good board clear once you get the board you will be in a very good situation as that board will transition into face damage which is the biggest Rogue’s weakness. To effectively utilise this weakness make sure you play lots of smaller minions instead of a big one. This is due to Rogue having Sap which can punish players who play big minions.

Card Advantage: Because Rogues sometimes use their cards inefficiently for tempo or to trigger combo Rogues will often run out of cards in the late game because they also don’t have much card draw besides Sprint which is an exception. Once Rogue uses Sprint she sacrifices almost all of her turn to replenish her hand. That hurts the Rogue’s tempo really hard and when Rogue uses Sprint she will give you an opportunity to regain board control.

Hero Power

The best hero power in the early game. Even without weapon buffs Dagger Mastery will let Rogue do 2 damage over 2 turns. It’s the best hero power to use on turn 2 and often is a good play. Rogue is able to dagger and then kill your 3/2 over 2 turns. This allows Rogue to come back if she missed a 2 drop on turn 2. However as more turns pass the more useless dagger becomes due to health limitations. Usually it will be useless late game when Rogue is at low hp and at that point the hero power of Rogue will pretty much do 1 damage to our face because Rogue won’t have enough health to use it on minions if you play against her correctly.

The 5 Most Underrated Cards from The Grand Tournament

0
0

Now that The League of Explorers adventure has arrived, it's time to look back at The Grand Tournament and consider the good cards that never quite made it into the meta, despite having loads of heretofore unexplored potential.

These cards have all seen play to some extent, but still remain undervalued by the community in my eyes. You should keep an eye on them now as new synergies are unlocked and new decks are assembled, because these are the kinds of cards that could make a big impact on your decks at a moment's notice in the era of The League of Explorers.

5. Charged Hammer
I think most people recognize that Charged Hammer is a strong card, but it remains underrated simply because Shaman as a class is rarely played at a competitive level. Not only is a 4-durability weapon packed with value, but the deathrattle is fantastic for Shaman as well. The new hero power is more reliable than totems and a 2-damage ping is just ridiculously good. If you get this card out early enough and use its charges quickly, it's loaded with tons of late-game value at a very reasonable mid-game cost.

4. Wrathguard
Wrathguard's effect rightfully scares some people, because it can theoretically cost you games all on its own. A Warrior using Shield Slam for 30-damage is a guaranteed one-hit kill. But of course a Warrior with 30 armor has already won the game, so who cares. And that's really the philosophy you need to take when considering the true value of this card. A 4/3 for 2 mana is totally insane as far as stats are concerned, and it doesn't cost you tempo or card advantage. In Warlocks focused on early-game pressure, this minion is a scary threat that typically results in only 3 damage to your face, making it equivalent to Flame Imp, just a little bigger. Of course 3 health is easy for most classes to clear, but when it sticks, the damage adds up so quickly and the trades are so efficient that Wrathguard can set up overwhelmingly powerful board states.

3. Kodo Rider
It's kind of crazy how good Kodorider could be in the right environment. It's a reliable, predictable, and theoretically infinitely valuable card with solid stats and a reasonable cost. At the very least this card gives you instant board presence and a threat that opponents absolutely have to neutralize. For decks that focus on minion presence or combo damage, the potential is there for Kodorider. It's already insane in Arena, and a few new cards here or there that focus on hero powers may unlock the full potential for Kodorider in constructed play as well.

2. Polymorph: Boar
The standard Polymorph really isn't played all that often despite it being one of the best removal spells in the game. Part of that may be its lack of flexibility, which is something Polymorph: Boar actually provides. Not only can this spell neutralize an enemy threat, it can also be used to do an additional 4 damage anytime you have a minion on the board, and 4 damage for 3 mana is actually quite strong. The only downsides to using it as removal is that you can't ping off the boar, but it combos with Flamestrike or Blizzard in a single turn quite nicely and sets up more efficient trades. When a card can do two different things well, it has loads of potential.

1. Eadric the Pure
Eadric the Pure is a very slow Paladin card, and Paladin decks right now just don't play that slowly. They're far more focused on tempo and aggression than late-game dominance. If Paladins ever return to a control-style archetype, Eadric the Pure will be waiting to dominate a slow meta thanks to this defensive stat alignment and crazy-powerful battlecry effect. You can basically ruin an enemy's huge board of minions with a single card. He's also sturdy enough to trade against weaker minions or combo with something like Defender of Argus or Blessing of Kings for ridiculous effects. Save up your arcane dust, because you might need to go back and craft Eadric the Pure someday!

Even though The Grand Tournament certainly has some strong cards that have made their way onto the ranked ladder with a force, I'm convinced these 5 cards have a chance to be good in the right deck or at the hands of a creative player.

Talent Guide - *High Damage* Twilight Malfurion by RegisKillbin

0
0

Most people see Malfurion as one of the most boring and passive characters in Heroes of the Storm. He's traditionally the friendly feathered healer that stands in the back, but that's not the only way to play him. You can turn Malfurion into a scary damage-dealing druid of destruction with the right talent build!

The Twilight Malfurion can do surprising amounts of damage, while still tossing out the occasional heal or crowd control spell as necessary. It's not viable for Hero League, but it sure is fun in Quick Match if you're skilled or a secondary healer. Check out the video below to learn the build and see how the talents work.

For your convenience, you can also browse the build's talents by level below.

LvlIconNameTooltip
1MoonburnIncreases Moonfire's damage to Minions and Mercenaries by 100%.
4Vengeful RootsEntangling Roots also spawns a Treant that does 20 damage per second and lasts 10 seconds.
7Strangling VinesEntangling Roots deals 100% more damage.
10Twilight Dream [R]After a short delay, deal 100 damage in a large area around you, silencing enemies making them unable to use Abilities for 3 seconds. [Cooldown: 90 Seconds]
13Full MoonfireIncreases Moonfire's radius by 60% and reduces its Mana cost by 50%.
16Lunar ShowerUsing Moonfire reduces the cooldown of your next Moonfire by 0.5 seconds, and increases the damage by 15%. Stacks up to 3 times and resets after 6 seconds.
20RewindActivate to reset the cooldowns of your Basic Abilities.

One of my favorite things in Heroes of the Storm is when you can take heroes down an alternate path and play them in an entirely new way. The Twilight Malfurion plays more like an assassin than a healer, bringing new life to a tired old druid.
