Star Citizen has had over 1 million backers and raised over 95 million funds. It's a successful 3 years for the CryEngine 3 space sim although it hasn't formally launched yet. Now the game has kicked off the anniversary sale, with couples of new ships being added. The new ships include a $350 repair ship Crucible.

A so-called "flying toolbox," the Crucible is Anvil Aerospace’s first dedicated repair ship. Featuring a rotating control bridge and a detachable pressurized workspace, the Crucible is a versatile mobile garage equipped with repair arms, a drone operation center and all the equipment needed to overhaul a damaged craft back into fighting shape.

The Crucible, our penultimate Wave Four concept ship, is now available! Designed by the legendary Ryan Church, this repair ship is just the thing for keeping your fleet up and running. When closed, the detachable workshop allows crews to repair single seat fighters internally. When open, the Crucible can use its remote arms to attach and repair larger craft! You can learn more about the Crucible here, and Star Citizen’s overall repair mechanic here.

Several other ships are available to buy, along with some physical merchandise. Check out here if you are interested.

Fantasy War Tactics Review, Clichéd But Pleasing

$

0
If Nexon remains a relatively unknown publisher compared to the giants of the industry, undoubtedly due to the fact that the vast majority of titles produced by the company have never left the borders of Korea, the firm can still boast some major successes such as MapleStory, Combat Arms or Dragonica. With the market leaning that way more and more, the publisher has been increasingly interested in the mobile market, and, in recent years, Fantasy War Tactics being their latest addition.

Fantasy War Tactics begins when a character we know as the Lord (which is more or less our incarnation in the game) resurrects Chris, a powerful warrior that lived thousand of years ago known as an "Ancient". From the first few seconds, you will soon realize that the Lord is not your usual RPG hero. In fact, and he puts no effort into hiding it, he self-proclaimed himself as the most powerful wizard alive and aims to put the world. Simply put, in Fantasy War Tactics you take on the role of a "villain" on a quest to recruit the most powerful warriors in the world and conquer it. This reversal of roles, unusual in the genre, is the first pleasant surprise of this Fantasy War Tactics , and you will soon delight yourself in all the clichés of the big bad wanting to dominate the world, not being above using threats and mind control to achieve your goals.

The story takes a comic twist when the Lord, having invested all his time his research for years, find out that a group known as the Council of the Reformation of the World beat him to it and already conquered the world. The Council of the Reformation are thus the true villains of the story, and the Lord makes it his goal to defeat them before resuming his conquest of the world.

In support of its history, Fantasy War Tactics can count on a perfect direction. Graphically, the title is truly pleasing, which is not surprising when one knows the habits of the studio for art direction. Very manga-oriented, Fantasy War Tactics runs a gallery of characters that are colorful both in terms or appearance and personality, meeting the specifications of any Japanese RPG with the under-dressed female thieves and mages, slender warriors and furries of all kinds. Seeing all these people evolve on different battlefields is a real treat. Each of the characters, allies and enemies alike, has a unique 3D model and an extremely fine set of varied and fluid animation, allowing for dynamic fights that are  very nice to look at. The impact if further enhanced thanks to the wide variety of effects triggered by the combo attacks of combatants.

The maps for their part, also have their undeniable charm and variety that helps to renew interest in the game as the adventure unfolds. Sound-wise finally, Fantasy War Tactics is doing by providing a classical score that nonetheless attunes perfectly to the Fantasy theme of the game.

Gameplay-wise, and more specifically when it comes to the combat, the game again retains a rather classic style of the tactics genre. Much like games such as Final Fantasy Tactics or Fire Emblem, your Fantasy War Tactics heroes will take part in turn-based battles, evolving over the map through grid movements. The game will offer you to explore different areas successively, most of them requiring you to defeat enemies so you can progress, earning EXP and items as rewards. Before entering a map, you will need to build up a team of heroes from the roster of characters you've unlocked, considering their strengths and weaknesses, as well as those of your opponents. Of course, and because the characters are at the heart of the combat system, you will need to pay them a lot of attention and allow them evolve throughout the adventure through a comprehensive system of progression. Indeed, the heroes will not only be equipped with various gear, but it will also be able to "reborn" once they've reached a certain level, which will increase their grade, maximum level, and power.

Finally, and as is often the case in this kind of game, the characters are divided into different types according to the principle of the good old rock/paper/scissors, each type having an advantage or disadvantage over another. Add to that a bonus, or a penalty, depending on the terrain on which the character stands, and we obtain the basis for a rather deep tactical gameplay. A depth that will not fail to impress once the fighting starts.

Between fights, it is possible to indulge in a lot of activities to strengthen your small army. Not surprisingly, it will be possible to find the good old PvP that will allow players to use their teams to compete with each other, climbing up the rankings and winning prestigious awards. However, with the lack of a decent matchmaking, beginners might get discouraged upon facing devilishly strong teams. Another pleasant feature will be the expedition system, allowing players to send a hero across the world to complete missions or gather resources.

Finally, in regards to the economic model, Fantasy War Tactics is not that different from other Free to Play mobile games of the genre, with slightly intrusive advertisements, and various rewards for new and active players. There are also some rather pleasing skins for the different heroes that cosmetics lovers will truly appreciate.

Conclusion
Let's be clear, Fantasy War Tactics is light years away from revolutionizing the genre of F2P RPG's on mobile. Blithely taking on its own outline of the tactical RPG and including a healthy dose of the conventional mechanics, this new title made in Nexon proposes a gaming experience that is far from unpleasant. Simple to learn, perfectly controlled in every aspect and with an art direction and realization with little to no flaws, Fantasy War Tactics offers a gaming experience that will satisfy fans of the genre.

Blade & Soul: NCsoft Talks How to Play Force Master in New Video

Force Master in Blade & Soul has some similarities to the Elementalist in other fantasy MMORPGs with the ability to freeze or burn the enemies. No surprise that the freezing abilities can slow down the enemies and protect the caster while the fire abilities will deal a lot of damage.

Force Master can also penetrate opponent’s defense and seize opponent in the mid-air. It’s a class for players who like to keep a distance between enemies and use the power of ice and fire elements. If you are beginner of the Force Master class or plan to play it in the future, watch the video below where NCsoft tells you how to play this class.

Tree of Savior Guide: 2 Recommended Life Profession Jobs for Closed Beta

$
0
0
Currently in closed beta, Tree of Savior has two most popular life profession jobs: Alchemist (Wizard Rank 6 job) and Squire (Swordsman Rank 5 job).

First of all if you are going to focus on crafting, you have to progress Alchemist or Squire to circle 3. The cost is you will find it difficult to find a party at end-game PvE so it’s recommended to those who play with friends.

And then some explainations on the choices of job advancement. There are 2 recommended paths for Alchemist.

1. Wizard – Pyromancer – Pyromancer – Psychokino – Cryomancer – Alchemist C3
This path allows you to constantly use damage skills without too much worry about skill cooldown

2. Wizard – Pyromancer C2 or Cryomancer C2 – Linker – Psychokino – Alchemist C3
Since you are no longer a reliable DPS, you can choose Linker to support the party

Also two recommended paths for Squire.

1. Swordsman – Peltasta – Hoplite C2 –Squire C3
Hoplite C2 is the core job for most Swordsman DPS. However you are going to focus on life job, so you can’t deal damage like other DPS oriented Swordsman jobs. Therefore, you may choose Peltasta to gain some tanking ability

2. Swordsman – Peltasta – Barbarian C2 – Squire C3
Barbarian is another popular choice for Swordsman. No doubt that Barbarian C2 is less powerful than Barbarian C3, but it still has a complete set of AoE skills and certain tanking ability.

ELOA: Elite Lord of Alliance Beginner's Guide, Choosing Your Class

$
0
0
The classes of ELOA are rather unique, each of them possessing three skill sets that players can switch between with the simple push of a button. This allows combat to be heavily reliant on strategies and combos, and choosing the correct one according to the role you wish to fulfill is essential.

Blood Knight
The Blood Knight is the warrior archetype at its best. With various skills making use of its shield and different sword styles, the main role of the Blood Knight will be rushing the enemies, and dealing as much damage as possible while tanking their attacks.

Mage
Self-explaining class, the mage will use the elements to defeat large groups of enemies. Their skillsets, simplified as fire, ice and wind skills, will generally have specific roles. Fire skills are, as you can guess, purely meant to deal as much damage as possible to the largest groups of enemies. Ice skills will also allow you to maintain a decent DPS, but will also come with various crowd control attributes. Finally, wind skills tend to deal less damage than the other two, but with the benefit of a high mobility.

Sniper
The perfect ranger archetype, the Sniper will use its agility and ranged weapons to deal damage while staying out of the reach of enemies. They are also able to lay traps over the map and can be especially deadly.

Psychic
The game wouldn't be complete without a healer class, and in this case the Psychic is the closest you'll get to that role. Like the other classes, the Psychic possesses three skillsets, with one of them putting a great focus on healing skills. This class also comes with a good number of crowd control skills, making it an essential addition to most parties.

Assassin Warrior
Restricted to the Naru race, the Assassin Warrior might be the most self-sustaining class, possessing a great variety of crowd control skills, slowing or restraining them, all while using DoT skills to eat at the lives of enemies. An invaluable asset to party fights involving a large number of enemies.

You can find guides for particular class here.

Magerealm: Tap into the Power of the Zodiac Angels

$

Angels are the masterpiece of the Titan when the world was created. Mages of the land have the ability to summon their own angels of light and darkness. Although this powerful ability works nowhere near the scale it used to before it was passed down through the generations, people’s pursuit of power is endless. To restore this power to its former glory, the Mage Council assembled dozens of experts in the art of Angel Summoning across the land. After decades of research, trial and errors, our great mages were able to infuse the power of the cosmos into a special material. Our most experienced artisans were able to use this material and craft 12 Zodiac Vestments. Once Celeste or Eclipse dons these garments, they turn into one of 12 Zodiac Angel with the power of the galaxy at their command.

News of this invention spread like wild fire, everyone in the realm is talking about it. It’s not easy to win the Zodiac Angel however. One need a strong Battle Rating plus the grace of the Zodiac Angels to summon their power. Since we are fast approaching the end of November, the next Zodiac Angel ready to be summoned by the worthy is Sagittarius. A lovely and just Angel, she will punish all evil with her arrows of judgment.

Most Detailed Beginner’s Strategy Guide of Mabinogi Duel

Mabinogi Duel
is already gearing up to be the hottest “true trading” TCG on Android and iOS. From my latest article - Face-Off: Mabinogi Duel VS Hearthstone, nearly 65% readers vote for Mabinogi Duel. So it's the high time to bring the most detailed hints, tips and tricks for beginner of Mabinogi Duel. Here we go!

Download:

Getting Started

When starting, you’ll been given the choice between two free decks: Starter Pack Type A and Type B, each with 12 basic cards to get you started.

Both are perfectly acceptable at this point in the game, but if you ask my opinion, the cards in Type A are a little bit more powerful. They are more flexible in the heat of battle, so you have more options available to you and that’s always better than a deck that is less flexible.

Nevertheless, both decks will do the job nicely at first, and since you’ll outgrow most of these cards fairly quickly, it’s not an end-of-the-world decision. (Whatever you do, do not buy the other pack for 70 Gems in the shop when it offers it to you — this is way too expensive for a deck that is mostly common cards, and it’s money better spent on booster packs that contain much stronger and rarer cards.)

The contents of each Starter Pack are listed for you below so you can decide which one you’d rather use. Click the image to get a full-sized look at what’s inside each one!

● Which one you choose is ultimately up to you. ‘Type A’ features the Gold, Mana, and Dark Camps, while ‘Type B’ contains some Gold, Nature, and Light Camp cards.

Get Questing

You’re going to want to play and finish the single-player campaign as quickly as possible. This will introduce to you the whole range of mechanics you’ll find within the game, as well as expose you to many cards in the base set so you’ll have a good idea of what kinds of cards and decks you might come up against in the multiplayer modes and Arenas.

Pay attention to the story dialogue because many characters will explain essential gameplay concepts to you. You’ll miss them if you skip all the talking so it’s crucial you read everything. You’ll also gain experience points needed to level up and collect new heroes, as well as some good rewards along the way, such as free cards, premium Gems, and gold currency (not to be confused with Gold Camp cards!) used to open single-card gold packs.

● You shouldn’t skip the Quest mode at the start of the game, because it teaches you a lot and gives you tons of free stuff. Go get it! It’s free! Also funny. Very, very funny.

One thing you need to keep in mind about the story campaign is that you’re going to play a lot of “irregular” matches— these include extra mechanics, cards not otherwise present or available in the game, and other highly strange events. These are fun and exciting, but they somewhat distort the manner in which the game is normally played.

Have fun with it and enjoy it, but try not to pick up too many bad habits in the story Scenarios, like completely ignoring what the (sometimes poor) A.I. is doing and instead just summoning Creatures away from them and hitting the opponent directly (although yes, that does occasionally work in the campaign matches!).

If you’re having difficulty with some of the Quest Scenarios being particularly tricky, try to shift your mindset away from seeing it as a duel and rather see it as a puzzle. Some of these fights are more like a puzzle than a duel, and they require a very specific order of card summoning and attacking to win, so look at it from this perspective and see if that helps.

Assess the Scenario carefully and from all angles. What cards is the opponent using? Can you turn any of their Creatures or their effects against the opponent somehow? Do you just need to stall for time instead of destroying all of their Creatures?

Trust me: push through those difficult matches, and by the time you end up screaming, “BUT WHICH WAY IS THE CANDLE FLAME REALLY POINTING?!” at one of the later Scenarios, then you’ll know you’re definitely addicted to this game. (Hint: it’s the direction that makes the candle flicker the fastest!)

● You are able to stack a Premium Membership and a Gold membership together, but not two Premium Memberships, so go for the B one if you can afford it. Do NOT buy the other Starter Pack for 70 Gems, though!!

Which Membership to Buy?

Honestly, this is going to vary according to what you can afford, but even if you only buy it once, the Premium Membership B will offer you the greatest value. If you spend just a little bit more than twice the cost of the A version, you’ll get a booster pack’s worth of Gems a day for a month, and even more than that, given the % discount vouchers you get as well.

With the Membership A option, you’ll have to wait 3 days before getting enough for a new pack, compared to one a day with the B version. If you can afford it, go for B, but A is not bad either if you can’t afford the B version. Just remember that Membership A is a better value than spending $10 on a pack of Gems directly, so do that first if you’re going to only spend $10 and want some Gems.

The Cat Merchant

Occasionally you will see this guy pop up and offer to trade cards with you. Watch out for this guy. He’s known in the community as “Scam Cat”, because the trades he offers you are, usually, notoriously bad deals for you and excellent deals for him, even if he says “it’s my loss, it seems”! He is like that guy at the card shop who pounces on newbies and pretends to be offering them really good trades but is ripping them off for their rares. Generally, if he’s trying to get good rares out of you, don’t accept them unless he is giving you something truly exceptional in return.

Knowing if it’s a good trade or not will come with experience and time. If you’d rather be safe than sorry, just deny all of his offers and tell him to go away for the day. You can push him to refresh his cards and show you something else, but if you push him too far, he will run away, so if he’s offering a good card, you better take it the first time rather than test his patience. Otherwise, stay well clear of this crafty fellow!

Daily and Draft Missions

It’s quite important to finish at least the last level of each of the Daily and Draft Missions, if you have the time. You used to have to complete all the levels from the start, but now you’re permitted to complete them in any order you choose, so you can skip all the earlier ones (which give very little rewards) and go straight to the last tier which has the most.

The last levels give you 5 Gems each (so after 3 days, that’s enough premium currency for a whole booster pack!) as well as a chance at gaining a card from a selection of 5 cards, chosen at random from the Daily Mission and Draft Mission booster packs for the day (you can see the contents of these in the shop).

Some people get lucky enough to be offered the rarest card in those packs as a part of the 5 cards on offer here, which is one of the main reasons it’s worth doing these Missions each day. If you don’t select the rare, you’re given the chance to keep picking cards for 6 Gems each.

Don’t do this unless you really, really need to get the rare on offer. Mostly, it will offer you common cards and they’re not worth spending the 6 Gems to get them. You should have seen what cards it offers you at the start of picking them before they become hidden by being turned over, so you should know whether it’s worth spending the Gems or not. Use your discretion.

The other notable thing about the Draft Missions (but not the Daily Missions) is that each tier provides you with experience points for completing them. This is great if you’re trying to level up your profile, which you should because you gain rewards as you level up.

The most important thing about leveling up is that you’ll unlock extra heroes to use in battle, and these have special abilities that will trigger during the match or otherwise modify the stats of certain things in the match, so the more heroes you have, the more flexibility you have when building decks for the Arenas. Get that XP, and collect those heroes!!

● It’s usually not worth spending the 6 Gems it asks you to to “have another go” at picking one of the cards; however, if you find a very rare card has appeared in the pack, it’s worth trying to get it. Even if it takes picking all cards to get the rare, you’re only paying a maximum of 24 Gems which is cheaper than a booster anyway. Out of the cards on offer in this screenshot, I wouldn’t spend the Gems to keep picking further as Dragon Strike is not a very good card.

Arenas

The bulk of the game, once you’re past the Quest story, is the various Arenas available. Here is where you’ll earn huge rewards for a relatively small investment of time and practically zero gold currency, and for literally no real money cost at all. The Arenas are extremely generous with their prize pools and this is what the fan base loves about the game so much.

There are four kinds: The Rookie Arena, the Random Draft Arena, the Veteran Arena, and the PvP Arena. The rewards vary at each Rank in the Arena: the first-place winner gets the Champion Rank, with the highest payout. Then there’s Platinum, Gold, Silver, and lastly Bronze.

The prize structure varies for each one, including: boosters from the latest set, pre-release boosters (the next set not yet purchasable in the shop without coupons), pre-release booster coupons (there they are!), booster coupons for G1+ Daily and Draft boosters, Gems, percentage-discount coupons for booster packs, Arena tickets for the Veteran arena and a share in a gold pot based on how many Arena participants there are.

The arenas are slowly becoming more and more competitive, as more people enter the game and play the Arenas religiously. This means it’s getting harder to climb the ranks, but it’s still possible with very minimal effort to hit Gold or at least Silver for each Arena, as they tend to be open for about 1 to 3 days (depending on each Arena) before closing.

It’s important to note that you’ll earn more points the greater the consecutive wins you get, as well as your A.I. ghost achieving a higher level to win games for you passively as other people encounter it. The best thing to do is, when you can’t afford to spend any more time playing, push as high as you can in consecutive wins with your deck and quit your win streak there. Now just sit back and enjoy the passive wins earned by your A.I. ghost!

● The place you need to reach for each Rank actually varies in each Arena. A “safe” placement in one Arena will not necessarily be safe in another, so make sure you’re looking at the Rank range carefully.

Gold, Gems and the Shop

Gold— Getting gold is pretty easy in this game. If you log in every day you’ll be given gold for free, but the most gold will come from a) the Quest Scenarios, b) doing the Daily and Draft Missions, and c) spinning the roulette wheel after winning matches in the Arenas, or friendly duels. You’ll amass quite a lot of gold just regularly playing the game, so you shouldn’t run dry unless you open lots of Gold booster packs.

Gold boosters are not worth it once you’ve got most of the common cards in the offered set, however, if the rare offered is one you really want, then save up many thousands of gold first. Then you can spend them all at once to try to get the rare, and you could get lucky! However, you should try to keep some of your gold for spending on the Arenas and re-rolling decks when drafting, but feel free to binge-spend on the Gold packs if the rare really interests you.

Gems — There are no two ways about it — getting Gems without paying for them is the hardest thing to do in the game currently. There is the very generous 5 Gems you can earn by finishing the final stage of each of the Daily and Draft Missions, which consist of 4 or 5 matches that you have to win in a row without dying (but if you do, you can re-start them). You can also earn 1 Gem each from the two Medium stages of each type of Mission, for a total of 4 Gems, but this takes much longer as you’re looking at 3 battles just to earn 1 Gem, which in my opinion is not time efficient (you’d make more money flipping burgers somewhere in the same amount of time!).

If you’re going to start buying Gems, then firstly, you should have one of the Memberships (as discussed in the first section of the guide above). Then, decide on a budget for yourself — how much are you willing to put into the game? The more you spend on a Gem pack, the more free Gems you’ll get in return.

The best value is the 1300 Gems for $99.99 as you are gaining 300 Gems for free (equivalent to 10 non-discounted booster packs for free — even more, if you’re using discount coupons). That’s a lot to ask, I know, but if you think you’ll be buying lots of smaller Gem packs over time, it might be better to just bite the bullet and buy a single, bigger one instead.

● For now, these are the available options for premium Gems. Remember, please choose a budget and stick to it. The game should never interfere with your real-life finances. It can be seriously addictive and it’s very easy to spend money in this game.

The Shop— Here is where you can buy booster packs, Gems and Memberships. I’ve discussed most of these in different sections, so here I’m going to focus on talking about the booster packs available. The “Generations” are the game’s card sets, so G1 is the base set and G2 is the next one. You can openly buy G1 packs, but G2 packs are only available as prizes, or become available to buy by “unlocking” them with coupons earned in the Arenas.

The best packs to buy are the Single Gold booster (when you’re new and don’t have a lot of the commons yet, but later, you’ll probably ignore these), then a few basic G1 boosters (the ‘Lord of Farkka’ ones, where any card in the set can appear), then you’ll start to buy the G2 boosters if you’re able to get them with coupons. Save the other booster types for when you’re more advanced in the game.

In brief, the other booster types — G1+ boosters have some very good G1+ rare cards in them which are not available in any of the other packs, but they’re hard to pull and some of them are not powerful enough to be more than collector’s pieces, so don’t go crazy buying these.

The Mutant packs will be of interest once you have most cards in the set, as they offer variations of normal cards, which are either resource-shifted or a +1 or -1 variant, modifying the cost and stats of a card. These can be very good, but only on the right sorts of cards. Lots of the Creature Mutants are, frankly, just awful and aren’t much better than their basic versions. Use your discretion or ask some people online if it’s worth it before trying to get it, if you’re unsure.

There is also the Card Exchanger, but in general, this isn’t that useful except to get rid of cards that you have 6+ copies of for a bit of extra gold, so you can safely ignore it for now — if it spat out Gems instead, well, then it would be an entirely different story! *Please, DevCat / Nexon!*

● Once you get deeper into the game, you’ll start to understand which boosters are worth the purchase and which ones aren’t. High-level players are mostly interested in the Mutant packs, but only for specific Mutants, typically Camp-shifted cards, especially Spells. Don’t buy just because it looks cool — think carefully before purchasing.

The scope of this article is not large enough for a detailed, in-depth discussion on deckbuilding. The following are some preliminary tips to beginners who are unsure of what to do when building their first decks.

Let’s start by pointing out that you need to fill a deck with all 12 cards — any less and you’re missing out on an important slot that could be filled, so never make any decks that say (Lack 1), (Lack 2) and so on at the end of the name. That means you’re missing that number of cards from the deck, so it’s not full.

Single-resource, or even double-resource decks are quite difficult to build skillfully. They require a lot of experience with the game and learning to balance your resources, because you gain a more limited number of resources each turn compared to a triple-resource deck. The downside to triple-resource decks is the more random nature of Charging to gain a resource, but this is a minor downside and three-Camp decks are the norm right now. So, for your first few decks, stick to including cards from three different Camps.

To start, you can pick a few of your favorite cards from different Camps and ask the game to “auto complete” the deck for you. It will generate a decent-enough deck from the available cards in your collection, trying to give you a mixture of high- and low-cost cards. You can then save the deck and try it out against the Cat Merchant in a friendly duel — how well does it work, do you think? Are there too many high-cost cards making it impossible to play at least one card per turn? Are there enough Spells to take out enemy Creatures? How flexible does the deck seem?

● A cool little trick for you to try out — if you want to auto-complete a deck based on certain parameters, you can filter them first. The deck will only use cards that are visible in your deck currently, so if you want to auto-complete a totally random deck from your favorite three Camps, just select those three in the filtering options! The same goes for rarity and resource costs, so get experimental!

The auto-generate feature is great to start out, but don’t rely on this too much — the system is not that intelligent at building the best possible decks out of your collection. It’s great to quickly get started, but soon you’ll want to be editing and building your own decks.

It’s hard to know where to get started, I know, but this is a good method, at least at the beginning. Experiment and see how well it works for you until you’re ready for some more advanced deckbuilding concepts.

And we’ll bring more guides for Mabinogi Duel next time - so stay tuned!

Albion Online: The Official Guide for Beginners

$

Sandbox Interactive, the developer of cross-platform MMORPG Albion Online, has released an informative guides for those who will play the sandbox MMO in the closed beta starting later this week. This guide includes explanations and tips for major gameplay features such as crafting, class, GvG and PvP, etc.

The Ins and Outs: A Beginner's Guide to Albion Online

Somewhere deep in the confines of Albion’s eastern continent, in a place desolate of peace and ridden by political warfare, the tale of a new beginning was bound to reality. It was time for history to be written of a new hero.

Welcome, Adventurer. You've come to the right place, and the right game. Albion Online is a medieval Sandbox-MMORPG, designed entirely with the objective of providing a well-rounded and challenging experience. From the simplistic, yet impactful animation design, to the minimalistic approach towards its aesthetically pleasing art-style, the game demands attention.

With that being said, I am here today to provide you with a few pointers on your initial course of action when taking your first steps into the world of Albion. Let us begin with the first thing you should take note of when logging into the game, naturally: The Destiny Board.

The Destiny Board: Your Central Hub for Progression

When first entering the game you may notice that there is no quest giver or NPC to direct you on your journey. Don’t be alarmed as this is intentional. In Albion Online, you script your own legacy and determine your own path. However, the Destiny Board is available as a support-system to help you better define who you wish to become as a player. The first thing you will want to do is open the Destiny Board by hitting your "N" hotkey.

Yes, at first glance the destiny board will appear to be very complex, but don’t feel discouraged as it will only take a few moments to fully grasp that it is a lot more coherent than it appears. This will be your unspoken guide for character progression in Albion, and it is accessible anywhere, anytime. You will begin progressing your destiny board from the moment you log in. After closing your destiny board, take a look at the bottom-middle of your screen. There you will find your initial destiny board tasks to complete and begin your journey.

Now that you understand the basic style of progression and have begun your journey in Albion, let us discuss the first tasks you will embark upon.

Beginning Your Journey

Upon arrival at the shores of Albion’s coast, you will end up in one of three locations: Westerly Cross, Middle Cross or Easterly Cross. If you plan on beginning your journey with a companion, then traveling between each starter city is a rather simple process. This can be done by speaking to the Travel Planner located on the ship docks of each starter city. You can then travel between each starter city… for a small fee of course (thought you were getting away for free eh?).

Before you do anything, open your mails located at the top of the screen. Apart from vanity items your Founder’s Pack gives you, you will also find a horse and an ox that make travelling through the world of Albion easier. But beware: once you enter the Red Zones, people can take the Founder's items, including your mounts, away from you after killing you.

As mentioned previously, the first task you will want to undertake is located at the bottom-middle of your screen on your destiny board checklist. Proceed by gathering those initial rocks and logs, and slay those innocent bunnies to your hearts content! Don’t forget to loot all the rabbit-hide while you’re at it. Grabbing some extra of each resource will come in handy, as every resource you gather will prove to be useful in one way or another.

After you complete your initial task of gathering resources, it’s time to create your first items: gathering tools and weapons. Head on over to the first NPC you will encounter in the game, in the middle of the map, which will provide the workbench necessary to create your initial gear and tools. Onto your first creations!

Boundless Crafting

Now that you have your resources in inventory, you’re ready to make your first tools and weapons. Gathering tools are an immeasurably important component of Albion Online’s crafting system, as they allow you to gather higher tier resources, thus resulting in crafting stronger weapons and armor in the process.

Resources come in eight different tiers. Each tier becomes increasingly challenging to find in the open world, as resource scarcity is a very tangible factor in world of Albion. Only the best of the best will be able to maintain the highest tier of gear, so keep in mind that the world is indeed a competitive one. You will need the appropriate tier level of tools to gather a resource of the same tier. With that being said, make sure to always have gathering tools on-hand if you plan on gathering and creating your own gear. Knowing that you plan to be the best of the best, go on and create your tier 1 tools. This will be your first step in achieving the ultimate goal of unlocking tier 8. With your tools in-hand, gather some more stone, wood and hide (or use those handy-extra ones you gathered earlier) and create your first weapons and armor in Albion.

The Classless System: You Are What You Wear

Upon crafting your sword, shield and leather armor, let’s take another glance at the destiny board. Although you currently wield sword and shield in-hand, it is important to notice that once you’ve acquired enough fame (read: experience) to progress into tier 2 weapons and armor, your gearing options become limitless. This ties into the fact that Albion Online’s approach to character progression does not confine you to a particular role, but instead, allows you to create the character and play-style of your preference.

To put it simply, you are what you wear. One day you can play as a cloth-bearing fire mage, pyro-blasting your enemies into flames. While another day, you can be a full-fledged tank in plate armor, protecting your allies from hordes of Undead in the trenches of Albion’s dungeons. All of this can be accomplished on a single character.

In-line with the simplistic nature of Albion’s design, is the simplicity of the classless system. When you first equip a piece of armor or weapon, you’ll notice that on the right side of your screen that new skills will be present. If you equip a different type of armor or weapon, you’ll then find that the skills have changed. Again, you are what you wear. Wearing different armor-types will result in different skills and an entirely new and refreshing playstyle with each change. This opens the door for endless theory-crafting; your only limiting-factor is how imaginative you allow yourself to be, thus creating a play-style that defines you as a player.

Now that we are at a point in which you have grasped an understanding of the destiny board, progression and the classless system of Albion Online; it’s time to grab your exclusive Tier 3 Founder’s gear as well as Ox or Horse, if they are included in your choice of Founder’s Pack, from your mailbox, and venture into the open world.

Watch Your Step
As a new player it will be important to understand that new challenges will present themselves along the way. There is a learning curve to survival in Albion Online, as it is one of the defining features of the game. Let’s cover a few tips to ensure that you will be having a memorable and joyous experience.
To begin, it is imperative to understand the zone system in Albion Online. There are four zone-types, each presenting new challenges and daring opportunity. You can recognize each zone type by opening your world map and pressing your “M” hotkey. They are color-coordinated based on each type of zone and the encompassing risks involved.

Zone Variation: Risk vs. Reward

In Albion, we have four different zones:

Green zones
The first of the four is the green zone. This is where you are at right now, and it is the only completely safe zone-type in Albion. Expect to find resources varying from tier 1 through tier 4 in these zones.
You should feel safe bringing your founders gear and mounts out into these zones, as there is very little danger present besides the first mobs you will be killing out in the open world. If you end up dying in a green-zone, do not be alarmed as you will only be knocked-down momentarily and incur a durability loss, rather than actually dying and losing your gear.

The green zones are an excellent place to get your feet-wet in your first PvE (player versus environment) adventures in Albion, so take the time to learn the intricacies of combat and resource gathering in these zones. If you die every now and then in the green zones, no worries! Your viewers will laugh with you in the process.

Yellow Zones
Next, we have the yellow zones. Expect to find resources varying from tier 3 through tier 5 in these zones, with a small amount of tier 6 as well. This will be the first zone that you will potentially encounter PvP (player versus player) in Albion Online. However, sharing similar functionality to the green zones, if you die in a yellow zone you are only knocked-down momentarily and acquire a durability loss rather than dropping your items. With that being said, you should feel relatively safe with bringing your Founder’s gear out into yellow zones as well.

The main difference here is that you should keep your ears open in case of any conniving player killers lurking to try and kill you. This is possible by flagging up for PvP. You can flag yourself as hostile by clicking the "shield" icon next to your hitpoints bar. Only flag yourself if you are actually looking for PvP. Staying unflagged provides you with a friendly-buff which will help you defend yourself from those who may be after you.

Whether you are the pacifist or the player killer, it is important to keep on your toes and be wary of the slight danger that yellow zones have to offer.

Red Zones
Third is the red zones. Expect a variance of resources ranging from tier 4 through tier 6 in these zones. This is where your adrenaline will really begin to pick up and the idea of risk versus reward begins to truly rear its head in the game.

If you die in a red zone, there is no turning back and all items on your person will be dropped as spoils for the victor. If you plan on making an early entry into the red zones then I would advise you to bank your Founder’s items, including your horse and ox, as you wouldn’t want to lose these too early on in the game! There are no friendly player-buffs here, and everyone is on even-footing in regards to PvP.
When you are actively engaging in red zones, be completely aware of the risks and rewards you are delving into. If you kill a player, all the loot is yours, and vice versa if a player kills you.

Something important to keep in mind is that Albion Online does support you in your solo endeavors. When there are more than 10 enemies near you in a red zone, you will see them as a red blob on your mini map. This is a sure-fire alert of danger, and will give you the opportunity to escape from an unfavorable fight, unless of course… you're feeling like a hero!

Black Zones
Finally, we have the black zones. Expect to find resources ranging from tier 5 to tier 8 in these zones. This is the end-all be-all of the zone types, and by far, the most dangerous (and most rewarding) of them all. Similar to red zones, if you die in a black zone you will drop all of the items in your inventory, including your equipped gear. There are no friendly-buffs, no mini-map indicators of danger, or anything to help you in these zones besides your own wit and merit. When you’ve reached the point of engaging in black zones, you are ready for the highest level of open world competition that Albion has to offer.
Keep in mind that different tiers of mobs will also be present all throughout the world of Albion! In similar fashion to resource tiers, mobs also function similarly in Albion. They come in eight tiers, with increased difficulty and scarcity based on tier. You will find the easiest mobs to defeat in green zones, with the most challenging mobs in black zones.

With an understanding of the various zone-types, and the risk versus rewards present in each respective zone you’ve acquired a strong understanding of when and how to approach each zone, along with the risks you’re willing to take. Even though you’ve come a long way, we still need to cover the elephant topic in the room. The topic that will test your dedication, integrity and overall experience in Albion Online; joining a guild.

Guilds & Territory Warfare

Although solo play is possible in Albion Online, we highly recommended that you join a guild suited to your goals and aspirations in the game. Joining a guild will enhance your enjoyment of Albion Online by a long-stretch. Most of the action in Albion occurs between rival guilds looking to entirely decimate their opposition. You may wonder, how can guilds rival each other outside of open world PvP? Well that brings us into our next topic of Guild versus Guild battles.

Guild vs. Guild
Guild vs. Guild (GvG’s) in Albion Online are where the cream of the crop battle it out in 5 vs. 5 disputes over territory control. It is a very intricate system; however, to detail it simply: guilds can claim ownership over territories and amass large quantities of land throughout the world of Albion. On acquired territories, guilds are capable of building a large variety of buildings to refine materials, craft gear, farm and gain access to additional storage. A rival guild can then challenge the occupying guild to steal the land and claim it as their own, including the infrastructures built within.

If you have played a MOBA in recent time, then you’ll already be very familiar towards the nature of GvG’s in Albion and will have no problem performing well! This is a highlight of PvP in Albion with some serious adrenaline rush. It is an excellent endeavor to provide stream content for your viewers.
For all of our solo and small-scale players out there, don’t worry! You can still own your own piece of land in Albion Online without having the fear of it being lost to a stronger guild. This is through our Player Island system.

Player Islands: Land for All

In Albion Online, Player Islands are designed as segue into land ownership, for those less capable of maintaining contested territories! You can buy a player island in any of the major cities of Albion for a very cheap price. You can also upgrade your player island into 6 different tiers: each tier offering more land space than the previous tier. Ultimately, more land space means more building plots.

To top it all off, your Player Island is entirely private and is only accessible by you, and those that you allow to come visit you. Also, they cannot be contested for ownership. Your island will always belong to you.

Unreal Engine 4 Powered A.V.A: The Rise of Shayka Coming Next August

Remember the once popular FPS Alliance of Valiant Arms (A.V.A)? Well, it is coming to mobile platform as Korean developer company Red Duck announced that its mobile version titled A.V.A: The Rise of Shayka, is scheduled to launch in South Korea next August, with more regions being added in the release plan later.

Touted as the "first FPS targeting at smartphone platform in South Korea", the biggest selling point lies in the top notch graphics and sound effect in A.V.A: The Rise of Shayka. Thanks to the prowess of Unreal Engine 4, the graphic performance is even better than the PC version.

Although players can't move freely in the game, Red Duck has optimized UI for the mobile version so players can hide behind items to aviod attacking from enemies. When players are ready to shoot, they can hit the optical sight button in the left side to lock the targets and then hit the right button to finish shooting. Overall, the whole UI is not that complicated.

As for the game modes, A.V.A: The Rise of Shayka featuers both the PvE and PvP modes. When in PvE, players can team up with NPCs to fight against the various huge bosses while in PvP, there is 1vs1, 2vs2 and 4vs4 disclosed so far. Also, non-real time PvP is also allowed where players can attack other player's  stronghold.

A.V.A: The Rise of Shayka is not that hardcore compared with the pc version. Reasons for that kind of setting is probably because Red Duck thought not-so-hardcore settings can cater to mobile users better.

As we all know, good cosplay can’t be successful without well-made outfits. Bindi Smalls who cosplayed Nova in StarCraft II on BlizzCon 2015 is famous for her 3D printing armour and props.

First, Bindi Smalls work out the 3D model of Nova from the game. But obviously, it couldn’t be used directly seeing from the pictures.

All these need to be adjusted and designed again, thus making the details perfect.

Next step is to polish and print repeatedly.

Bindi Smalls chose wall spackle rather than XTC-3D to make the gun.

People are not talking about this topic in this year, and I won't bring this topic up again if it's not because of the number of MMOs got shut around the world is significantly increasing in 2015. You may haven't noticed that South Korea, the biggest MMO factory in the world, has far less new MMOs in this year while at the same time, they have closed down pretty lot of MMOs. In the west, the situation isn't so bad but it isn't any inspiring. Take a look at the MMO shutdown list for South Korea and west below.

MMOs that have been shut down or cancelled in South Korea

ASTA
Closure: August 23

The CryEngine 3 MMORPG started open beta in South Korea in 2013 but the game didn't last long due to constant decrease of player number. The developer said although they tried their best to improve the game, it still failed to satisfy the players.

The game has shut down in Korea but the developer is looking for a new publisher currently. Someday the game may re-open its server in South Korea but for now, it's dead.

Echo of Soul

The game was once a highly popular MMO in Korea with over $3 million monthly revenue. However, the game came to an end so fast that no one could imagine it was once a game which was as popular as AION, Lineage and Blade & Soul.

Grand Chase

Published by Netmarble, the 2003 side-scrolling MMO announced to cease the operation in South Korea for this MMO's lifespan had come to an end. The game was no longer profitable as player number kept dropping.

Project HON
Cancelled: May 2015

6 months after the mech combat project was announced at G-Star 2014, NCsoft announced to cancel the project because the company thought there was no promising market and large customer base for such type of MMO.

Red Stone 2
Cancelled: August 2015

9 years after the announcement, L&K Korea decided to stop developing anime style action MMORPG Red Stone 2 and switched their focus on the game's mobile version which was scheduled to launch on iOS and Android platforms this winter.

Note: Korean publisher NHN will no longer publish TERA and Kritika in South Korea when their publishing contract expires later this year. It means TERA and Kritika developer will need to find a new publisher otherwise these 2 games may also be shut down.

Sadly there's still no Transformers MMO that can survive in the market. Transformers Universe has always been in trouble since it's still in development. Jagex and Hasbro have to terminate the MMO after an unsuccessful post-open-beta period.

Shadow Realms
Cancelled: February 2015

BioWare finally made the decision to cancel pen-and-paper online RPG Shadow Realms early this year. The studios chose to focus on profit guaranteed RPG series such as Dragon Age and Mass Effect may just be a wise choice.
