Gearbox's team-based shooter Battleborn will enter open beta worldwide on April 8th, and you will be available to experience 25 unique heroes in different game modes. As a competitive multiplayer game, there is no doubt that the game features various PvP multiplayer modes. Last time we took you to go through the Incursion mode which blends MOBA and FPS elements. Besides, Battleborn also introduces a story mode which gives player a better understanding of the background and characters.
That story is playable solo, 2-player splitscreen, or up to 5-players co-op online, and the monsters’ hitpoint and damage are according to player’s number. The more players in each game, the more powerful the monsters will be. There are three standalone episodes in story mode: “The Algorithm”, “Void’s Edge” and “The Renegade”. Without sequence and requirement, players are available to choose random episode in this mode.
In each episode, you will have a goal. For example, during The Renegade, you’re dispatched on a rescue mission to save Caldarius and by doing so, recruit him to your cause and make him a playable hero. There’s also a lot to be said of the game’s MOBA-like levelling system. Each level or online match you play had your character starting at level one and levelling up at a rapid pace. Each time you level, you get a point to spend on the helix upgrade system, picking between two possible boosts to your character.
In addition, the Shards, as the only available in-game currency, play important role in this mode. Players can use Shards to update character equipment, build structures and also activate NPC's special skills. You can easily track the Shard clusters on mini map. All team members share 5 resurrection chances in each episode. When a player dies in this mode, a ghost appears where they perished.
