Any Tribes: Ascend player here? It has been in slience for a long period of time but you should be happy because Hi-Rez recently brought it back with a patch called Out of the Blue earlier this month. It is currently playable on a public test server. You can expect to see the revamped class system, new maps and several balance tweaks in this patch.
Many Tribes: Ascend players thought the game is "dead" and Hi-rez adandoned the game to focus on SMITE. Well, for Hi-Rez, it should be a smart and wise decision as Hi-Rez president Stewart Chisam told PCGamer that he doesn't think Tribes: Ascend would be a profitable project. Instead, it is a "passion project" compared with other Hi-rez titles. While in the other hand, the success of SMITE gives them another chance to redevelop Tribes: Ascend.
"None of us felt good about the state it was left in," Chisam told PCGamer in TwitchCon and they always hope Tribes: Ascend will come back. The 4 or 5 small team in Hi-rez will work full time to pop out updates from time to time for Tribes: Ascend. "I'd love to keep that team around for a while ... It's starting to feel more like the old Tribes games." Chisam said.
