Deck Guide - *TGT* Wyrmrest Dragon Priest by Reynad

$

0

After the release of Blackrock Mountain, many players desperately tried to make Dragon Priest a competitive deck, but it was an absolute struggle. The Grand Tournament added a few new dragons to the foray, and now it looks like the deck has real potential. Reynad's version is gaining steam as the best version of the new Dragon Priest, and we're calling it the Wyrmrest Dragon Priest.

It's hard to nail down the Wyrmrest Dragon Priest's true archetype, because it feels like a mix between a midrange deck and a control deck, and even has some aggressive elements that allow it to get quick wins now and then. No matter how you think about this deck's strategy, one thing's for sure, it's incredibly good at burning opponents to a crispy dragon snack on the ranked ladder!

General Strategy

This deck is all about establishing board presence early and capitalizing on it with a constant stream of overpowered dragon-enabled minions and normal overpower Priest buffs. Much of your success will rely on getting Wyrmrest Agent out on curve, because it's an absolute monster of a 2-drop that will throw a wrench in the plan for any deck you face. Its 4-health is so significant and annoying when attached to a taunt that early, that most opponents will be forced to trade into 2-for-1 at the best, and sometimes even 3-for-1.

When it comes to mulligan, you should be digging very hard for Twilight Whelp and Wyrmrest Agent. If you have either of those, looking for a Dark Cultist or Blackwing Technician makes a lot of sense. This deck has enough early drops that you won't need to hold on to anything above 3-mana in the mulligan. Do keep in mind whether or not you have a dragon in hand to enable some of your early drops.

If you're able to curve into Twilight Whelp, Wyrmrest Agent, and Blackwing Technician, you'll usually have an insurmountable board to build on that simply rolls over your opponent, whether facing aggro or control. From there, it's really all about continuing to reinforce your board while making strong trades and dispensing removal. If you get behind in the mid-game, you have some serious late-game bombs to drop and dig out a win thanks to Ysera, Chillmaw, and Vol'jin. You don't have any burst damage, so you'll need to rely on your minions and the board to win games.

What Stands Out

Most of the standout cards in this deck are new releases from The Grand Tournament. The card that names this deck and might be its most important piece is Wyrmrest Agent. If you're able to get the battlecry buff (which should happen 95% of the time or more), it's quite possibly the best 2-mana minion in the game. Aggressive decks have to throw multiple minions into it, and control decks often can't clear it that early, giving it a few turns to attack and annoy.
Two new dragons also helped make this deck more viable. Twilight Guardian is a super Sen'jin Shieldmasta that is substantially better with only 1 extra point of health because so many things have 5-attack these days. Chillmaw is a nice solid body that can wipe an enemy board (of Grim Patrons, especially), and give you a chance to claw back from a slow start.

How Do You Win?

You won't be winning with burst damage or fatigue. You'll be winning by putting together a board of solid minions and pushing through for small chunks of damage a few turns at a time, until eventually your position is unassailable and you can crush them for lethal with attacks from four or five minions. Occasionally Ysera will be your win condition if you're able to get a timely Nightmare or Ysera Awakens to burst them down.

Tips and Tricks

Sometimes it will be more important to get Wyrmrest Agent activated on turn 2 than it will be to get Twilight Whelp out on turn 1, which means you might have to hold onto the whelp if it's your only dragon, then drop it to fill out a later turn's curve. Don't forget that Velen's Chosen gives you spell damage, which can make Holy Smite and Holy Nova far more devastating. You basically have three big removal options with Shadow Word: Death, Rend Blackhand, and Vol'jin. It's important to use them on the correct targets, and not be too greedy with them.

Matchups
  • Control: Usually this deck can build up a nice head of steam before control archetype decks can stabilizie. If you're curving out smoothly and able to buff minions along the way, you should be able to chunk them for lots of health and build a huge board before they can respond. Card advantage will be vastly important due to your lower curve, so be sure to get value out of your Northshire Clerics. If you run out of steam around turn 6 or 7, you'll be falling short right when you could otherwise seal the deal.
  • Midrange: Midrange decks will typically be right behind you the entire game, and you'll be able to utilize your buffs, hero power, and taunts to make favorable trades that pull you ahead.
  • Aggro: Decks that try to rush you down will have a nightmare of a time against this version of Priest. You have way too many early drops, too many taunts, and too much cheap removal. As long as you don't draw completely dead and end up with Ysera, Rend Blackhand, Chillmaw, and Vol'jin in your opening hand, you should be just fine to play on curve, utilize taunts, and leverage your hero power for extra cushion.
  • Combo: The two biggest combo threats are Druid and Patron Warrior, both of which will have trouble with this deck. Druids can't keep up on board control with all your annoying early drops, and they won't be able to get past your plethora of taunts to lethal you. Patron Warriors can always work miracles and surprise you, but having a handful of taunts and the ultimate anti-Patron card with Chillmaw is definitely enough to give you an edge.
What to Replace

Despite this deck coming pretty quickly after the arrival of The Grand Tournament, it already feels quite optimized. There are a few small changes that could make it better in certain situations. Chromaggus is an interesting dragon option that might give you another late-game body and allow you to generate enough cards to last against heavy control decks if the game runs long. He could replace Rend Blackhand or Vol'jin for a shift in the decks late-game strategy.
If you feel like Dragonkin Sorcerer is a little too slow at the 4-spot, there are two options which could do different things for you. Auchenai Soulpriest gives you extra flexibility with your hero power, and can pump out additional damage. Refreshment Vendor is a nice little heal that can stretch the game against aggro and still develop the board on your behalf.

Why You Should Care

This deck is what Priest players have been seeking for a very long time. It's highly competitive on the ladder, answers many of the most popular decks right now, and it's a ton of fun to play. It also gives you a way to show off a lot of cool new cards from The Grand Tournament!

The monthly Tier List follows the same standard for years in order to deliver correct and impartial Tiers. Usually there aren’t so many Tier 1 heroes but this month due to TI5 influence their number increased up to 15. They are mostly the heroes banned or picked in almost every game.

The draft and winrate statistics sometimes have a different number of games parsed, it is mainly caused by replayed matches, which are considered all pick games. It could lead to some “strange” win rates for some Tier 5 heroes.

TGT Deck Guide: Hawkeye's Legendary Ramp Druid

$
0
0

It has been less than a week and The Grand Tournament has already made a visible difference on the meta-game. Some decks look like they are here to stay while others project an air of transience. From what I’ve noticed, the strongest decks so far were the pre-existing archetypes that have integrated TGT cards to Bolster their overall effectiveness. Hawkeye’s Ramp Druid is one of those archetypes; taking an already successful deck and improving upon it with cards like Living Roots and Darnassus Aspirant.

How to Play:

Much like its predecessor, the TGT Ramp Druid excels at outlasting the opponent with larger minions and having the ability to get those minions out quickly.

Early Game:
Controlling the board early has never been easier with Living Roots and Darnassus Aspirant. Living Roots provides that 1-drop that Druids desperately needed by being able to either remove a minion or establish early board control. The Aspirant is one of the best Druid cards to come out, forcing the opponent to deal with it immediately or watch as you ramp into stronger minions like the Savage Combatant.

Mid-Late Game:
Hopefully, you’ve been able to gain a mana advantage on the opponent through Wild Growth, Innervate, or Darnassus Aspirant so that you can begin to drop an unremitting stream of big-minions upon them. One of the best aspects of this deck is the myriad of win-conditions it offers. Either by Innervating an Emperor Thaurissan out or dropping a Ragnaros the Firelord, the Ramp Druid is no short supply of threats.

Mulligan:
The mulligan phase is simple, look hard for any 2 or less mana card: Innervate, Living Roots, Wild Growth, Wrath, and Darnassus Aspirant. If you’ve already drawn an Innervate, you can afford to look for a Savage Combatant as it will further provide you with additional boar control. If up against a Paladin or “face deck,” you should be looking for additional removal, including the 4-costed Swipe.

New Cards:

Living Roots: Coalesced with the Druid Hero power, Living Roots has ameliorated many of the Druid class’s early game foibles.  Best scenario is turn-1 two 1/1 Saplings, turn-2 hero power and kill whatever is on the board, it’s as simple as that. Didn’t draw it early? Not a problem, as it works marvelously off of other removal like Wrath and Swipe by taking down those bigger minions or finishing off that pesky one that Swipe left behind.

Darnassus Aspirant: This card has been getting a lot of praise and justly so, it has provided the Druid Class another tool to ramp into the late game with. Yes, it destroys a mana crystal when killed but who cares if you’ve already got a Savage Combatant out or the opponent had to waste valuable removal on it!

Savage Combatant: Hawkeye is a huge fan of this card, claiming it “has complete dominance [over] the early board when innervated or wild growthed out” [source]. I couldn’t agree more with him, getting this card out provides insane value, helping you control board early so that you can more effectively get out the later game cards. It’s no Piloted Shredder but it does offer additional synergy that the Shredder cannot, giving 3-attack damage per turn and being able to trade up with its 5/4 body.

Possible Replacements:

Justicar Trueheart > 1 – Ancient of War:

I found that Trueheart is just too good in this deck, consistently giving you 2-attack and 2-armor. It’s only a 6/3 body, but it’s still a threat that needs to be taken care of because it trades with most cards within that mana range. The synergy it provides within this deck can’t be understated, combine it with a Savage Combatant and you’ve got yourself 4-attack and 2-armor for 2-mana!

Ysera or Alexstrasza > Cenarius:

Cenarius is a great card for this deck but because it’s a class specific Legendary, not many people possess it (including myself!). Ysera is a good replacement because it provides infinite value if not taken care of and Alexstrasza is good because it provides an additional heal for yourself or another tool to nuke the opponent down.

Additional Notes:
Overall, Ramp Druid is one of the archetypes that greatly benefited from the release of TGT. Its new early game tools coalesced with its already existing, great late-game has made this one of the most powerful archetypes to play on ladder. I’ve had a great time playing this deck; I’ve won a lot of games while having a fun time doing so! NEStalgia Review, A Pleasant Leap Through Time

$
0
0
Remember the late 80's/early 90's of home consoles? Did you spend dozens of hours on the first generations of RPGs like Zelda, Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy. If so, congratulation for being raised during the most important period of gaming history, and NEStaIgia will surely bring back some memories of your childhood and sometimes. Unlike the aforementioned games, however, in NEStalgia you won't have to be alone when facing hordes of monsters or gigantic bosses. Indeed, thanks to the internet, it is now common for people to can play online with friends or strangers in the thousands of available MMOs, and despite its pixels and more than retro look, NESTalgia is a full-fledged MMORPG.

A rustic yet appealing class system
Like any MMORPG true to its name, NEStalgia starts with the creation of a character. We can customize our little pixelated avatar at will in an attempt to give it a touch out of the ordinary with the few available options. Once that is done, it'll be time for the choice that will impact on our journey the most, the class of our character. is the class that we are going to want to play during our journey. If the class of a character is already essential in a solo RPG, it is even more so when our character is thrown in a harsh multiplayer world. When creating a party, be it with friends or other players, the synergy between each of your classes will more often than not play a decisive role on your survival in the harder areas of the game.

Thankfully, with the eight classes available in NEStalgia, each with different skill trees players can branch into, it shouldn't be too hard to form parties with a good variety of classes. First there is the the three common classes you'll find in any RPG, namely the Wizard (glass cannon mage with sky high Intelligence but bottom low Health), the Cleric (healer with average stats and holy spells) and the Soldier (tank with a high Health and high Strength for physical attacks). The notable classes will, however, be the Ranger, jack of all trades class of the title encompassing the class Trinity on its own, possessing a great health pool, as well as average physical strength, magical damage skills, and healing spells. While this makes it one of the most sustainable classes in the game, its performance as a dedicated mage, healer or tank will always pale in comparison compared to the others. The remaining classes include the Warlock, Conjurer, Merchant and Ninja, each with unique attributes that I'll let you discover.

Back to the roots
Gameplay-wise, NEStalgia starts off as any other RPG. Players can evolve in a semi open-world universe that consists of ten geographical areas, each their own towns, quests, dozens of different monsters and creatures, as well as dungeons and the powerful bosses that generally come packaged with. Thankfully, players can unite their group's strengths to conquer said dungeons or bosses, because we must not forget that NEStalgia is above all an MMO. As they progress through the game, players will gain levels and skill points that can be used to improve their abilities capabilities or learn new ones. The characters themselves wont the be only things that can be improved since, as you can guess, the game features a large variety of equipment that are, however, class locked (plate armor for warriors, and cloth robes for mages), and can be bought, obtained as loot, or crafted.

Players start in what appears to be a tutorial cave where they will learn the basics of the equipment and battle systems. From the first minutes it, they will have a general idea of the plot - their characters having travelled through time (just like us) to, you’ve guessed it, save the world. Nothing exceptional here, but then again that’s what makes the charm of NEStalgia. Following this short tutorial, they will have access to the first town, as well as several secrets optional quests. Of course, this being a MMO, they will have the option of partying up with other players, completing quests and running through dungeons together (note that if none of your friends are around, and you don't wan't to team up with strangers, you have the possibility of creating parties made of yourself and befriended monsters). If you are seeking a more thrilling experience, you can even take part in PvP battles, at your own risk, however, since dying in NEStalgia comes with the loss of your hard earned gold.

Conclusion
To conclude with this, while it is true that its graphics are not really of our time, NEStalgia has a lot to offer, both to veteran gamers and those born during the era of 3D game engines. With the market being saturated with titles that simply seem like copy-pasta copies of each other, Silk Games takes the gamble and successfully offers a "new" and refreshing experience.

After two years of waiting, Capcom’s new mobile title Monster Hunter Explore will finally launch on Android in Japan. As the Reborn version of Monster Hunter Smart, Monster Hunter Explore takes place on Markja Island that is filled with all kinds of ancient monster history and treasures. The game is basically made by Monster Hunter 3G on 3DS, and it’s easy to find the same monsters, weapons, armors and more.

Monster Hunter Explore adopts the best features from 3DS version and optimizes it for the modern mobile gaming experience. Players can use the virtual joystick to move, dodge and attack. Once you touch the monster during the battle, the camera will automatically follow the target. Maybe this is why the official said players can do all action in the game only by one hand.

There are 12 different weapons in Monster Hunter Explore. Hunter's combat and hunting skills are determined by the weapon they use. Each weapon has unique weapon skill, and you can check all weapon skills here. Besides, Monster Hunter Explore also introduces four player co-op mode which allows hunter with your friends.

Unlike other mobile RPG games, in-game items such as weapons and armors can’t be purchased by real money, but those paid player can buy the items to increase the rewards by the quests.

Warcraft Movie

Since I was a child I dream about two movies, a Lineage 2 one and a Warcraft Movie. Although I will probably never get the first one, I'm very excited about the Warcraft Movie that we all know will come in June, 2016.

When the first trailer was showcased at Gamescom, I've stayed on diging for any report for like 24 hours, but nothing ever leaked.

Yesterday,I was very happy to see that a short footage leaked, and even if it was removed pretty fast from Youtube and other media sites, it still survived on VK. The video quality is very bad, but who cares, right?

Behold a tantalizing footage from Duncan Jones' Warcraft Movie
