Are you tired of having to micro-manage buildings? Are you tired of the constant nerf to buildings? Are you sick of the constant Hog Rider and Royal Giant decks ruining your day? Then, my friend, I have the perfect deck for you!
I'll let you guys in on a little secret that Hog Rider and Royal Giant users don't want you to know. The users of these troops want you to use expensive buildings to defend. Hog Rider and Royal Giant users know that the biggest weakness to their decks is dealing with the counterpush. If your opponent uses for example, a Hog-Freeze combo, that is 8 elixir down the drain that does nothing to your defending troops, setting you up for a massive counterpush against a elixir starved opponent. If you use a Inferno Tower to defend, you won't be able to take advantage of these decks' weakness to counterpush.
Now, I believe that the Hog-Freeze combo has received a big indirect nerf from the 5/3/2016 update. The nerf to buildings, especially the bomb tower, means that Hog users have to be more careful now. They cannot rely as much now, on their trusty defensive building to bail them out of a strong counter push, after spending so much elixirs on troops that only targets your crown towers. This may be the reason why we don't see as much Hog-Freeze and we see more of Hog-Zap which your Barbarians will have a easier time defending. Also, because of the low elixir average of this deck, you will almost always have Barbarians ready for their Hog Rider, making dealing with the popular Hog cycle deck easy.
In summary, defensive buildings cannot go on a counterpush which the most popular decks in the metagame right now is weak to. Using Barbarians to deal with Hog or Royal Giant accomplish the same goal on defense as a Bomb Tower or Inferno Tower but with the added benefit of being able to go on a counterpush and being something that the opponent have to spend additional elixir on. Remember that it is okay for you to take a bit of damage from Hog Rider and Royal Giant if it means you will be going on a massive counterpush afterward that is likely take out a crown tower. I see many people on TV Royale using buildings and troop to ensure that their towers take no damage from a push, this is not necessary unless you are on the verge of losing. One of the thing that Hog Rider users likes to do is dropping Hog+Goblins on the opposite lane as I drop my Giant on the back. I can use Barbarians to counter the Hog+Goblins and now I have a two lane push with Barbarians on one side and Giant on the other coming down the opponent lane. The opponent has to decide which lane to counter and I can add supporting troops to the one he doesn't counter, this can put huge pressure on your opponent.
This deck is an offensive Giant push deck. I have talked about how the Hog and Royal Giant are weak to counterpush and you may be asking "well, isn't the Giant the same as it only attacks crown tower as well?" My answer to that question is no because the Giant does not have a sole purpose of dealing damage to the towers. The Giant's main use is as a shield for your other troops, helping your other troops deal more damage to the opponent's troops/buildings since they are protected and will live longer.
My Deck
Now, the main strategy of this deck is building up a push consisting of the Giant in front and supporting casts behind it. You have two great supporters in the Wizard and the Dark Prince that deal nicely with Barbarians which will be the most common answer to your Giant. The Wizard also instantly eliminates the Minion Horde, another common Giant enemy. Archers can be used behind the Giant to deal hefty damage and Goblins can deal high damage to a distracted tower.
Card AnalysisKnight - the Knight is a great versatile troop with good hit point and attack. It is used to take out most small single troop such as Witch, Musketeer, and Wizard. You can use the Knight for example, to take out a Wizard behind a tank before using your Barbarians to deal with the tank. It can also be utilized as a mini tank to soak up damage for your ranged attackers on offense.
Archers - Archers are primarily used for offense with support from the tanks of this deck. They can also be helpful on defense against melee attackers and air troops and can carry over to offense with a tank in front.
Goblins - Goblins are useful on defense against Hog Rider, Giant, Prince, Mini-Pekka, Musketeer, etc. You can also try to sneak them in your offensive push as they deal high damage if left along. Goblins are good as a backup to the Barbarians in defending against dangerous troop such as the aforementioned Hog Rider.
Barbarians - the Barbarians is a very useful card on defense to take out Hog Rider and any high damaging single dps troop. They can give you a big troop advantage by being able to go on a counterpush after dealing with something such as the Hog.
Arrow - Arrow is self-explanatory, taking out swarm of troop. You want to maximize the value of the arrow by hitting multiple targets. The arrow is an easy way to gain an elixir advantage.
Giant - Giant is the main tank in this deck. It is used primarily to soak up damage for your troop behind it on an offensive push. Giant can also be used defensively to take hits for your towers.
Wizard - Wizard is very nice to deal with those pesky Barbarians that you see in almost every deck. It is often used behind the Giant to take out the swarm that are frequently used to counter the Giant.
Dark Prince - the Dark Prince is a great offensive splash attacker. It can be use alongside the Wizard behind the Giant for a strong push. For those of you who don't have access to the Dark Prince, Valkyrie is a fine replacement. What the Valkyrie lack in offense compare to the Dark Prince, she makes up for in defense.
The most important thing is to track your elixir, make sure you are making positive elixir trade-off. Reuse the troops that you use for defense. For example, if you use wizard to take out the opponent's Barbarians or Minion Horde on your side, put a tank in front of the Wizard after it is finish with defending so that you can use the same troop on offense. This can give you a tremendous advantage.
