The team members of Magic Fuel Game have made their appearance at ChinaJoy 2016 to promote their latest mobile game Project Fortress, which has attracted the most attention. The newly founded mobile game developer is home to a team with years of experience at Electronic Arts’ Maxis studio.Some of them have worked on classic games like SimCity, Spore, Dungeon Keeper, etc.
 
The San Francisco startup has secured $2.4 million in Series A funding from Seasun Games. Teamed up with Seasun Games, Magic Fuel Games will learn more about the hugely important Chinese market.
 
Mobile gamers’ taste is getting more and more like PC gamers’ taste. Smartphones have transformed the way in which we game. No longer do people need to be in front of their PC or gaming consoles, making mobile game a promising market for game developers.
 
Seasun Games has presented Magic Fuel Games’ amazing mobile game to Chinese publishers. Currently the game is still under development, we only know that the new mobile game shares some similarities with Dungeon Keeper. But one thing for sure is that the veteran game developer won’t let us down.

Hey guys, we haven’t seen Mortar for a long time. Therefore today I am going to share a new Mortar deck with you guys. This deck was created by Woody and he uploaded the video footage on YouTube. It seems that the deck works pretty well for him in Arena 9.

My Deck 


Battle Strategy
If you have Mortar in the starting hand, just drop it. If you don’t have it, you can either put down Princess or Ice Wizard behind the King Tower.
 
On Defence
Mini Pekka – Tombstone
Prince – Tombstone
Guards – Tombstone/Ice Wizard
Hog Rider – Mini Pekka/ Tombstone
Miner – Princess
Furnace – Princess/ Tombstone
Miner + Minions – Mini Horde and after that you can add Miner to push the lane.

Hey guys, I got a Lumberjack from tournament chests. I have been studying Lumberjack decks for several days and the Lumberjack often dies without having the rage take effect. Therefore, Xbow came into my mind. I have been hovering around 3000 trophies with the 1469 deck.
 
My Deck



Battle Strategy

Play defensively! Play defensively! Play defensively! We have Elixir Collector, Tesla, Ice Wizard (drop it behind King Tower) and Fireball (do damage to Elixir Collector and Arena Tower) in hand. Never rush to make a push. Wait until your opponents make the attack first, so that we can build up elixir advantage via defence.
 
Most of the time, Xbow will fight alone, so I pick the super defense cards in my deck including Fireball, Barbarians, Ice Wizard. When the armies meet in the bridge, the Lumberjack will come in handy and the 8 seconds rage will help Xbow a lot.
 
I didn’t put Poison in my deck because Fireball is more useful when I need to take out Barbarians/Minions immediately to protect the Xbow.
 
Match Ups
 
Royal Giant 
We can drop Tesla in advance to deal with it. Never put down Xbow before the Royal Giant dies. If we are at a disadvantage then drop Xbow in the middle of your Arena Tower. Draw is better than Lose.
 
Poison + Giant or Poison + Hog Rider 
Because they have Poison in hand, we cannot easily drop Barbarians to deal with Giant or Hog. Mst of time it’s ok to deal with those building targeting troops with Tesla. Note: Use Lumberjack to deal with AoE troops like Valkyrie. Make sure the Lumberjack dies first so the raged Barbarians can quickly take out Hog/ Giant.
 
Lava Hound + Balloon or Giant + Balloon 
Ice Wizard + Tesla + Barbarians and if necessary drop Elixir Collector in the middle of two Arena Towers.
 
Three Musketeers 
Fireball + Zap
 
Poison + Miner or Furnace + Miner  
Ignore the Miner first and use Ice Wizard + Zap to deal with the supporting troops and then add Xbow to counter push. If your opponent use Miner to dig your Elixir Collector, drop Miner to take it down. Note: Hold Ice Wizard and Fireball in hand to protect Xbow.

That’s all! Playing ranged xbow is super awesome, you can try the deck and feel free to leave any comments.

Ubisoft drops a big bomb at ChinaJoy 2016 today by announcing 6 new mobile game titles, including 2 Assassin's Creed games, 2 Might & Magic Heroes games and more. Read the details below.
 
Note: all games' names mentioned below are not official English names and are subject to change.
 
Assassin's Creed Online: Alliance
 

Assassin's Creed Online: Alliance is a online game sets in renaissance Italy and allows you to explore the cities such as Florence and Rome. You'll start as nobody but can choose to join Assassins or Templars and you can even sneak around and assassinate other players in PvP (Ubisoft reveals nothing about PvP, unfortunately).
 
The game will be developed by Ubisoft's Chinese partner Ourpalm, a company specialized in making mobile games.
 
Assassin's Creed: Bloodsail
 

Bloodsail is a 3D action RPG for mobile platforms. The game is inspired by Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag and sets in the golden era of pirate. You will play a pirate, exploring the Caribbean cities like Havana and Nassau and encountering characters appear in Black Flag (they won't be main characters though). In addition to naval battles, there will be PvE and PvP modes.

 

Might & Magic Heroes: Anno of War
 

The game will be developed by Ourpalm's subsidiary studio. Anno of War promises to bring back the continent of Antagarich in Might & Magic Heroes 3, through a more colorful and cartoony art style. Players can experience classic RPG+ tactical turn-based combat gameplay in the series. Besides, the game features PvE and PvP modes.


 
Might & Magic Heroes: Empire
 
The game is developed by Longtu Game, Ubisoft's another partner in China. However, Ubisoft doesn't reveal further information regarding this game.

All 4 games above is confirmed to be exclusive for Chinese market currently.
 
In addition to new games, Ubisoft presents Rabbids VR Ride at ChinaJoy, along with several other Rabbids titles and a Just Dancing mobile game.

Chinese game studio Xindong lately kicked off summer test for Ragnarok Mobile in China and also show the game at ChinaJoy 2016. As the licensed Ragnarok Online mobile game, how would be it presented in mobile platform? Luckily I got a closed beta key for Ragnarok Mobile and here's my review for the summer test version.



>>> Different platform, same gaming experience!

The in-game contents of Ragnarok Mobile are as similar as its PC version including the jobs, skills, enhancement, emotes etc.


As an experienced RO player myself, what motivates me to play the mobile version is purely nostalgia as I know it has tougher levelling system compared to other mobile games. Therefore, I believe that the main purpose of many experienced RO players playing the mobile version will be to reminisce the feeling that we once had when playing RO.


However, for new players who had never played RO before, it might pose a little challenge for them. The levelling system and playing style is similar to the PC version which might have some complications for new players to adapt. For example, players have to reach level 10 in order to change job and start adding skill points. Players may also encounter quests which require high amount of grinding of certain monsters or even spend a large amount of time moving from one location to the other just to complete a quest. Furthermore, the quest line might not be as appealing since it follows the PC version. If new players are not able to play through the game at the start, it will be impossible for them to continue to end game contents.

 

>>> How’s the overall experience?

Ragnarok Mobile's content will be centered just like any MMORPG games. For now, Ragnarok Mobile will focus on PVE content whereby players will attempt to unlock all possible features, farming quests for enhancement and begin participating in PVE raids or taking down world boss when they are all geared up. Right now, there are not much PVP features but there is possibility that there will be more PVP features being released in near future.


The main scenes in Ragnarok Mobile will be towns and wilds. Players can only unlock the next map after completing majority of the quests in the previous map. Every map has its own unique styles waiting for players to discover. Thus, the only way to explore the whole of Ragnarok Mobile world will be to complete quests!

The simple and cute graphical aspects are one of the reasons which attract players of all age and give even more motivation to experienced players to continue playing this game.


>>> Is it pay to pay/win?

In the current beta version, cash shops are not released yet and thus I am unable to make any comment about it for now. However, every Chinese mobile game has its very own methods of promoting players to  spend money. Below are some of the assumptions I made which requires spending of money.

Costumes: Very commonly seen in most mobile games and thus not at exception in Ragnarok Mobile. Furthermore, due to the cute graphics in the game it might even attract more female players which are more focused on dressing their characters and creating their own sense of fashion.

Mounts: The world of Ragnarok Mobile is very big and thus having a mount will save a large amount of time when travelling between towns.

Monthly VIP: Purchasing of VIP might give slight advantage in hunting and provide benefits to the players which may be possible to be released into the game.

Levelling bonuses: Due to the slow levelling system and frequent travelling, levelling might be slow and thus levelling bonuses might be introduced to allow players to level up slightly easier. However, it might turn the game into a pay to win model.


>>> Overall rating 8.6: It's not a mobile game that seeks quick success and instant benefits

There exists much RO concept type of games in China and most of them are not similar to the actual game. Whenever there is a release of such similar RO type games, players will still be willing to try out even if the game are not well developed. This proves how big an influence RO has impact on China players.


Lastly, I do want to emphasize that Ragnarok Mobile is a legit game with contents mostly imported from the PC version. It provides experienced players with the nostalgic feel of the PC version and provides new players with an extraordinary playing style compared to other games. I strongly recommend you guys to try out the game when it is officially released.

Aeria Games has just released new details about the fighting system in their upcoming free-to-play anime MMO, Twin Saga. ChinaJoy 2016 is ongoing and WeMade Entertainment made its presence felt with an oriental action MMORPG. Legend of Mir Mobile was the surprise prepared by the Korean-based developer. The game is based on the Legend of Mir IP, a sprite-based isometric 3D MMORPG, quite popular in Asia.



Powered by Unreal Engine 4, this oriental action MMORPG looks outstanding. Mir Mobile displays fluid action combat, four playable characters and PK system to come. The availability of Mir Mobile has not yet been made public. Watch these two trailers and draw your own conclusions.

CamSoda, the adult entertainment webcam platform, announced that they have partnered with the best teledildonics company and will offer intimate pleasure high tech devices to users. This will be "the first time in history you can have virtual sex online," CamSoda said.

So how does it work? Camsoda explained that the new experience relies on "a male and female synced wearable that passes pressure data from the female toy to the male sleeve." A new update is coming to SoulWorker and it's all about summer: sunshine, beach and cute girls with bikini! As Steparu reports, limited summer wear outfits have been released for the 5 playable characters in SoulWorker. Those outfits will unlock special emotes while equipped. Besides, more PvE contents and raid bosses will be added in the update too.



SoulWorker is developed by Korea-based Lion Games and Gameforge will be the publisher for SoulWorker in NA/EU but no release date or closed beta date has been announced yet.

StarCraft Universe was originally a fan-made MMORPG sets in StarCraft universe and borrows World of Warcraft and Diablo 3's gameplay elements. The project was funded at Kickstarter in 2013 and received lots of changes over the past few years after it got approved by Blizzard. You can learn more about the team and the project at the Indiegogo page or Facebook page.
 

StarCraft Universe is a mod for StarCraft 2 at its core (means you need to own a copy of StarCraft 2 to play this one), but it's a big project and gives you a totally different experience. Playing StarCraft Universe is like playing a standalone game, as it has 8 classes, numbers of custom maps, character customization, voice acting, custom physics and vehicle combat, etc. Currently there is only single-player experience in StarCraft Universe but multiplayer dungeon crawling content for 5-10 players are planned for future update.

Tencent Games is working on a Unreal Engine 4 licensed Transformers competitive shooter dubbed Transformers Online. The game is playable for the first time at ChinaJoy 2016 and it's expected to be a competitor to Overwatch, Blizzard's popular online shooter released in May 2016. How does Transformers Online look like in actual game? Take a look at the hands-on video below and tell us what you think.
 
Transformers Online hands-on, playing as Optimus Prime

Similar to Overwatch, each hero in Transformers Online represents a particular play style like tank, DPS, supporter, etc. Transformers have stats such as HP, shield, weapon damage, and of course, unique skills. Yes you can press "F" to transform to vehicle form. Another unique feature in Transformers Online is each hero wields a ranged weapon and a melee weapon at the same time. According to the developer, the game is a shooter at its core and melee weapon works as an extra means to damage the opponents. But melee attack shouldn't be ignored because when using melee weapon to attack, you have a chance to bypass opponent's shield and directly reduce its HP.


The most different part that makes Transformers Online different from Overwatch is customizable talent system. In Transformers Online you can allocate talent points to specialize a character but in Overwatch, you don't have a talent system.
 
You must be curious of what you can do in the vehicle form. For now, vehicle form is only for fast travel and will be very useful in some game modes. There's an ultimate skill for each hero, and for Optimus Prime, it's a whirlwind.
 

So my impression is the Transformers have good details and some of the appearances are based on the film and some are based on the anime series (that's a cool idea). There will be numbers of skins for each Transformers in the future. However, the transforming animation isn't as shining as I expect, and so does the ultimate skills. The game is still in development and it will get better and better.


Whether it will stand a chance against Overwatch? I think it has a chance if the game puts enough efforts in the animations and hero skill uniqueness. For now I've seen a Transformer can place turret and Optimus Prime can hold up a shield — we've seen similar skills in many games and we need something different.

Yesterday we previewed you guys a new 3D PC MMORPG Twilight Spirits from NetEase, today we'll walk you through NetEase's another brand new mobile MMORPG called Hunting Era. It is developed by NetEase's Korean branch. Hunting various feral monsters is the core feature of Hunting Era. Up to four players can team up to challenge the bosses together. Sounds familiar? Yeah, the game looks like a mobile version of Monster Hunter Online.

Hunting Era features next-gen graphics even in the mobile platform so players can experience vivid and life-like environments such as shallow water, desert, grassland etc. In-game operation is like most of the other action mobile games: using left hand to control the direction and right hand to dodge and release different skills. 4 classes and more than 400 monsters are available in the game and partnering with other players is encouraged. In the ChinaJoy demo hands-on trailer below, there's only single player mode though. However, players can still team up with some pre-set characters to hunt the monster together.

Lineage II Revolution, previously known as Project S, is another mobile version of the well known MMORPG, Lineage 2. The game is being developed by Netmarble and NCsoft and it was unveiled yesterday via some real gameplay videos. Today, the developers are back with the teaser site for Lineage II Revolution.

The official website displays a countdown along with a couple teasers of the game. The countdown will probably lead to the final version of the site or maybe to the announce of the first Closed Beta. For those of you who want to  play this masterpiece powered by Unreal Engine 4, a Google Play event is held at Dongdaemun Design Plaza. The test event starts today and it will last until August 24th. In the midst of Chinajoy, UK game developers representatives have shown many of their masterpieces in the UK gaming sessions. Unlike the previous year, UK game developers not only showed their once impressive masterpieces but also showed their future development plans including mobile games and even working towards the VR platform.

Chronicle: RuneScape Legends and two new RuneScape games

Jagex, being the creator of Europe’s most well knowing MMORPG RuneScape, had announced their newest cross platform (PC, mobile, tablet) card game, Chronicle: RuneScape Legends. The first impression that many had when being introduced was that it is quite similar to Hearthstone. However, the playstyle of this card game is very similar to chess game whereby players will have to drop their cards strategically for their heroes to battle out on the way. In the end players will be pitting themselves against each other and a victor will be decided. Game media had also reviewed the game as a perfect improvement from the traditional collectible card games and differ very much from Hearthstone concept. The game is already released on PC platform and mobile platforms will be released soon.


RuneScape: Idle Adventures is another game that was said to be able to provide players to experience the best in game content in just 90 seconds. The progress of the game follows the player and it requires not much of effort and time to play this game. However, due to the details provided in the session being limited, we are unable to know the exact gaming experience that the game will provide.


RuneScape had been chosen as the world’s hottest f2p MMORPG game by Guinness. Jagex also revealed their plans on releasing 2 more different genre of games which are RuneScape: RPG Battle (2017) and a web game RuneScape Remastered MMO (2018).


Micro Machines

Codemasters, having at least 30 years of gaming development experiences, had produced many popular games from racing games DiRT rally and Race Driver: GRID to tactical shooting games such as Operation Flashpoint and also RPG games Overlord or even the famous formula one racing games: F1 2016.


Codemasters have showcased a racing car game that has the concept of toy cars that we once played as a child named Micro Machines. Players will be racing in maps such as study table, couch, dining table, pool table and even kitchen’s sewer earning rewards to gain chance to obtain the spare parts of the toy cars. By equipping the spare parts, it can be formed into models such as muscle car, fire truck, police car, racing car, tank and even hovercraft. Players can enter PK mode and compete against one another and bear in mind that the AI difficulty in this game is not that easy to win against. You will need more practices to collect all the available cars.

 

Skara – The Blade Remains

Skara – The Blade Remains is an action RPG MOBA game, ranging from 1v1 to 8v8 battles. There are many types of weapons provided to players and each type of weapons has different playstyle offered to them.


Although the game is MOBA genre, it is more similar to MMORPG as players can upgrade weapons, gain skills throughout the game. Fret not, players need not worry about the progress gap between new and experienced players since there is no levelling system in this game and the only differences will be the amount of options to wield more weapon types.


It is also worthy to mention that there will be a crossover platform card games Skara Lore: Legends being released soon.


Coffin Dodgers

Milkytea, specializes in developing its very own games including VR games and mobile games, announced the release of the game Coffin Dodgers a racing game that is available in PS4, Xbox One and PC platform. Rumor has it that Milkytea will be announcing the release of Coffin Dodgers in the domestic gaming platform FUZE. Mobile version of Coffin Dodgers will also be releasing soon.

 

Extinction

Extinction is based on a space survival VR-FPS game which runs on Unreal Engine 4. The developer plans to develop the game similar to Life is Strange, The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones. In this game, every decision made by the players will affect the storyline and thus creating their very own storyline in the game.




Soccer Manager Arena

Soccer Manager Ltd once released MMO game world soccer manager and soccer manager 2015 which garners 150 million users. They will be releasing a slightly faster paced multiplayer competitive PvP mobile game, Soccer Manager Arena. In this game, users can collect cards to use in matches and the competition style of the game is almost like a soccer version of Clash Royale.




Fractured Space

Edge Case Games is a very experienced game developer and publisher, with their headquarters being located at UK Guildford. The team consists of experienced and professional team members with an average of 20 years of experience. After their first development of VR supported game Strike Suit Zero, they are now focusing on developing Fractured Space. Fractured Space is a sci-fi MOBA game which is currently in its Alpha stage.

Licensed by Square Enix, Final Fantasy Type-0 Online is an online mobile game developed by Perfect World Co. Hajime Tabata, the producer of the original Final Fantasy Type-0 game released for PSP, talked about the mobile version of the game at ChinaJoy 2016.
 

For those who aren't familiar with Final Fantasy Type-0 Online, the game shares the same universe with Final Fantasy Type-0 but gets MMO elements. Tabata said Type-0 Online will keep the single-player role-playing experience while offers social and MMO elements — it's a kind of experience you can't have in any of the previous FF mobile games.
 
You can team up with other players and explore dungeons in Final Fantasy Type-0 Online, or you can go toe-to-toe with other players in PvP. Tabata told he considered making a multiplayer FF mobile game when he worked on Type-0 for PSP, and the collaboration with Perfect World Co. made that possible.
 

He didn't mind telling his opinions, "I think Final Fantasy Type-0 Online is better than Final Fantasy Type-0 on PSP," he said.
 
When asked about where the game will be released in, Tabata said the game primarily aimed at Asian market."It will be first released in China because the game is developed by Chinese company," he added.

Sudden Attack 2 is a free-2-play multiplayer FPS developed by the Korean company GameHi (currently known as NEXON GT). It is an official sequel to Sudden Attack and it was released in Korea on July 6th. Powered by Unreal Engine 3, the game displays super HD maps, weapons and plenty of deadly chicks. Now, after a couple of weeks since it landed in Korea, Nexon KR announced that the Sudden Attack 2 servers will close on September 29th. Until the servers are shutting down, players will be able to play the game and apply for refunds.
 

Shortly after its launch in Korea, many voices were "advising" that Kim Jiyun and Miya, two female characters, are to sexy - to much fanservice. Both characters have been removed and the president of the dev team apologized. Apparently, GameHi (NEXON GT), the developer of Sudden Attack 2 also terminated their contract with Nexon, which can be considered as a reason for shutting down the game so fast. I hope that they can find another publisher that is willing to restore the game's "credibility"!
