The boss raid is a more charming part in Blade & Soul. However, comparing with other games with similar combat system, the boss raid in Archeage did not change too much. Although XL Games has promised that Archeage's boss raid will adopt more items and siege weapon in the near future, we did not see it come ture.
On the contrary, the boss raid in Blade & Soul is intense and exciting. Although when players are in boss raid, each class does not play unique role, players should change their attack method due to current situation. In addition, when the boss monster use the ultimate skill, players should make good use of the good timing to stop the boss monsters.
There is no healing class in Blade & Soul. The combat in Blade & Soul is challenging. Even though players are familiar with the skill, they could not unleash the skills in a fixed order. They have to act, according to the boss monsters' action.
5. PvP Comparison
In MMORPG, PvP is also a very important content. But, skill damage in Blade & Soul have not balanced well. Even if two players at the same level, they have to determine a winner after 2 or 3 rounds. If someone use the "raid" skill at a remote place, the one who get infected will be in a faint and easy to be attacked by combo. That is to say, they will be killed without any reaction.
After analyzing the combat system, hunting monsters and PvP, we could speculate that Blade & Soul's 1 player vs. 1 player battle will probably determine the winner by common attack at first, then mental defense and combo in the end, after adjusting the balance.
The situation will be changed when it come to the team match. Because players could only defend one attack once, the efficiency of defense skill in team match will decrease. Players are usually easy lose their bearings in combination attack. They could not change the situation easily. It is evident that the number of players is a great advantage in team match.
Who will be the winner in the combat system?
The Combat System in Blade & Soul and Archeage is totally different. Analyzing from the efficiency and system, I would love to give Blade & Soul's Combat System a higher score. It strengthens the fun of fight with taking action first and judging later and bring players more continence with changeable skill system.
However, Archeage reinforced the existed Combat System. Although the reinforced combat system will bring players stronger immersion feel than current games, there is no much difference from World of Warcraft. Comparing with Blade & Soul's innovation, Archeage is not good enough. In my opinion, Blade & Soul's combat system is better than Archage's.
If Blade & Soul add more unique fun in multi-player combat and improve its PvP system, it could be sure of success. In graphics and combat system, Blade & Soul will probably become a masterpiece that other games could not exceed.
