Hello Clashers! KairosTime here, with a Giant Poison Bowler deck that has proven to win the 12th round of a challenge! This deck is super hard to counter if you set your push up correctly! Here we go.
The Deck:
Card Breakdown:
Giant - The Giant is part of your main win condition but not because he does a ton of damage, although he does quite a bit, but because he is a very strong tank for only 5 elixir. You want this guy in front of his support cards taking the damage from the tower and defending troops.
Poison - Poison is still a very strong card that works in a lot of different types of decks. Not only does it do a lot of damage over time, it also slows down troops which makes it harder for them to take town your own troops.
Alternatives – Fireball or Arrows
Bowler - The Bowler is a great card to have in this deck because it is a real mean card when backed up behind the Giant! Although it does a fair amount of damage, the main reason why it is in this deck is because of its utility; the ability for it him to push troops back.
Alternatives – Valkyrie, Wizard, Log, or even the Ice Spirit!
Musketeer - The Musketeer is one of my favorite cards, and in tournaments, she really thrives because she won’t be fireballed by higher leveled opponents! She is great on defense and has a long enough range that your opponent will have to think carefully about where to place a defending tower when your giant is about to cross the bridge.
Mini Pekka - The Mini Pekka is a powerful card in so many decks. Because this deck doesn’t have a defensive building, the Mini Pekka is your primary defense against enemy Hogs, Giants, and Royal Giants.
Guards - The Guards are a powerful defending troop and can give you an elixir advantage when soloing the Mini Pekka, Lumberjack, Musketeer, and even the Valkyrie if positioned right! Alternatives – Valkyrie, Goblins, or Cannon
Zap - The Zap is a powerful card and can be used in many different ways. Using it to reset the Inferno Tower is one of the best reasons to use it in this deck.
Elixir Collector - The Elixir collector is a very important part of this deck! Use it to build up an elixir advantage, while forcing your opponent to play offense. Protect it with your life!
Battle Strategy:
1x Elixir
This is the time for you to defend and try to make as many positive elixir exchanges as you can! Unless you have a massive elixir advantage, I don’t recommend going for a Giant push because the supporting troops in this deck are somewhat expensive and difficult to put down. A Giant backed up with 1 supporting troop usually isn’t enough to make an unstoppable force, and so you want to wait until you have multiple troops behind the Giant that can cover each other’s weaknesses. You will also want to use your tower’s health as a resource, meaning that you allow a few hits on your tower rather than spending the Elixir to put out a troop. Obviously, you don’t want your tower to take too much damage, so be careful about how you defend.
You will want to put down the Elixir Collecter as often as you can, and protect it with your life! If you’re able to have 2 down, you may have enough Elixir to do a Giant Push before 2x Elixir, but if you don’t, I wouldn’t recommend trying. I always place my Elixir Collector right in front of the King’s tower because of how popular Miners are in tournaments. If that works, I’ll keep it there, but if my opponent is using a Poison deck without the Miner, your pump is safer behind the tower your opponent is less likely to attack.
The Bowler by itself is great at stopping pushes with multiple troops! I like to place him behind my tower while defending, but this isn’t always the best position, so learn how to use him. With practice, you’ll even learn how to stop Miner decks by using the Bowler to push the Miner to the King’s Tower! Activating the King’s Tower will stop most Miner decks because the Miner doesn’t have enough HP to tank 2 towers.
You’ll want to use the Mini Pekka to clear Giants or Royal Giants. If your opponent has a big enough push, a Mini Pekka + Poison combo will stop even the largest pushes, especially Giant Witch ones! This works well against a lot of Royal Giant decks because a lot of those decks count on you not having the air defense to handle a Royal Giant + Minion Push. Let the Poison handle the Support troops while your Mini Pekka goes “Pancakes” on the Royal Giant!
If you’re facing someone with a Giant + Balloon combo, a Mini Pekka and Musketeer will stop it with good positioning for a +2 elixir advantage. I usually place the Mini Pekka right in front of the Giant, which will slow him down just enough for the Balloon to pass him. Then, place your Musketeer so that she will lock on to the Balloon. You may need to use Zap to stop the Balloon from reaching the tower.
You will want to use the Guards to take care of Hog Riders, Miners, and Mini Pekkas. Guards won’t stop a Hog from landing a hit on the tower, but that’s OK because using your tower’s health as a resource is an important skill to learn. If a Hog comes with additional troops, use the Zap to slow them down while you place down Guards. If you can’t afford any more damage on your tower, use the Mini Pekka instead. Playing defensively ca but try to not spend too much Elixir and your defensive behaviors will really pay off in 2x elixir.
2x Elixir
This is when your deck thrives! If you can get 3 Support troops behind a Giant, or 2 with the Poison, you are ready to keep your opponent on their toes! Of course, in order to pull off such a large push, you’re going to want to make sure you’ve built up an Elixir advantage over your opponent. If you have, your hard work is about to pay off!
Start your push with a Giant or a Bowler behind your King’s Tower. At this point, your opponent may rush the other side of the map, so be prepared to defend with cheap Guards, or by placing your Musketeer in the middle of the map so she can defend one side then walk to the other side where she can aid your Giant Push. By the time your Giant reaches the bridge, you want to have a Bowler, Musketeer, and either the Mini Pekka or Guards. That’s a pricey set of supporters which is why it is important to have an Elixir Collector down. Be ready with the Poison because it’s likely your opponent will try to stop the push with the Minion Horde or the Barbarians. If you know your opponent has an Inferno Tower or Mini Pekka as their primary defense against Giants, Guards will do a great job at distracting either, and Zap will reset the Inferno Tower. By the time your Giant has taken down a tower, you’ll likely have cycled back to your Giant, so place another down and continue your way towards a 3 star victory! If your push succeeded at taking a tower but falls shortly, be prepared to defend with a Bowler on your side of the map.
Final Notes
As you can see, playing this deck during 1x elixir requires a lot more skill than playing during 2x elixir, but how you play in the first part of your match will determine whether or not you’ll have the resources to play like you want in the last part, so practice and get better at defending while using your towers’ health as a resource! If you do that, you’ll make easy work of tough opponents!
