ArcheAge Begins: My First Impressions

On March 23, ArcheAge Begins started their closed beta on their mobile rendition of their original MMO from 2013. I was a bit late start, but I still wanted to play it and was very intrigued with it. Though I did not completely test everything this game had to offer, I wanted to deliver my first impressions on the game and perhaps things they could've improved on, and say some things that I felt made this game special.

STORY
Without spoiling the story, this game occurs before the original - 2,000 years ago. You begin to follow twelve
heros that are journeying to find secrets of the world’s creation within a garden that is said to be the first expedition (called the “Library Expedition” from Gene in the beginning). Each of the characters vary races, skills, personalities, and appearances to make each of them have their own quirk that’s oddly refreshing to add more diversity in the story.

In the beginning of the game, we are introduced to four heroes off the bat, with others (with the exception for the tutorial unlocking of characters) being locked : Gene,Tahyang, Kyprosa, and Aranzeb explaining they are currently at “The Mother of the World,” the ancient rift, and the door to the garden is what would be left for them.As they venture down to find the garden, a dragon stops them and attempts to stop them until Orchidna appears and the dragon refers to her as the “God of Misery” and “Lord of Destruction.” She opens the seal on the door for our heroes.

Suddenly, a bright beam emits from the door and before we know it,Orchidna gets taken and bound to a throne. When our heroes catch up with where she was taken, a Fairy Queen explains she must sit there for all of eternity. Kyprosa requests to take Orchidna’s place, however, the queen declines and explains to them they must find the “Throne of Power” to save Orchidna. So, the true adventure begins!

GAMEPLAY
This game off the bat should not be compared to the original since these two are vastly different in gameplay - the original is a theme park MMO, and this game is an RPG. That being said, there are only a few MMO-like features to this game such as multiplayer PvP, territory battle, boss raid, dynamic co-op dungeons, crafting, and trading, etc.

There is no x2 or “auto” button for combat in the beginning. This might draw or bore you slightly if you’re into faster combat, because it can get slow at times. However, it does appear later on. After most of the tutorials and onto the stages. You can choose up to four heroes to fight and manage their cards to deal heavy blows, magic, or heals for your team. As I said in “story,” each of the characters are different, which makes it a lot more interesting to me and allowed me to become more interested to see what happens next.

Rendermax made a great gameplay video to just show you the cutscenes and battles, showing how the game is played at a low level.

The heroes are able to equip gear and level up “talents,” so you need to progress through the stages more and have enough materials necessary. You also need to progress to unlock many of the heroes and grind to create them to become a higher tier and increase your overall combat power in the team. As I continued playing, it just ended up getting a lot more challenging and upgrading them became a bit of a hassle, so I took a break and came back to it later on.

If you ever get bored of the story or need a break from it, you can always enact in PVP, a boss raid, a territory battle, annihilation battle, or even just go play a cute mini-game with fishing and raising livestock after realizing you need more materials. With these materials, you can craft, trade, and sell items at the Auction House, which means more money~

170324_arche_10.jpg
There’s one more thing you can do in this game: attack and loot other players’ merchant vessels. With all of this packed into a mobile game, there genuinely seems like there is a lot to do - and then there comes the stamina requirement that ends up limiting you slightly depending on how you use it.

Most interesting things you can do in the game requires stamina, just like other mobile games that usually limit you after doing a number of work, so choose how you use your stamina wisely.

GRAPHICS, MUSIC, AND ART
The graphics are good but not the best, but considering this is a mobile game it isn’t exactly top priority. However, there are games out there that look a lot better than this. This doesn’t change the fact though that it does look rather good for a mobile game compared to the original game, and many of the environments are nicely made along with monsters. They fit with the environment overall.

The music is very well composed and does give you the feeling you’re in this awesome fantasy world on an epic quest filled with danger. It’s very well done and I very much enjoy it.

The art, on the other hand, feels very streamlined and kinda bland. There’s nothing that really stands out very much. In my opinion it kind of looks the same as any other dark fantasy game out there. For mobile it is fine but there are better options out there if you play games for aesthetic reasons. I feel like there should be something done to make the genre fresh and new again.

SHORTCOMINGS
  • The game felt a bit laggy for me on my android and even crashed on rare occasions, my issues mostly being out-of-combat in the hero management for example. At some points, the game has random lag spikes and it seems as if this game needs a lot of RAM to run overall.
  • For certain content in the game, there seemed to be a lack of a tutorial like with crafting and fishing. If there was a way to also keep the tutorial just in case you forgot how to play, it would be most helpful to many players.

WHAT CAN BE IMPROVED
  • The auto-raid party system needs to be worked on and tweaked so that it runs faster and finds people faster so raids can be completed.
  • The tutorial needs a definite improvement. There are some functions in the game that definitely need a tutorial.
  • The HUD needs to be refined. Some may want more information, like their exact EXP percentage to other things, but others may not. Perhaps a toggle could better this situation.
  • Optimization for Android a bit more and a fix for the lag spikes that occur due to the amount of RAM the game uses.

OVERALL
I did not look at the cash shop as of yet, so I have yet to pass judgement. For the majority of the game though, while there were a few issues, this game was fun to play and with the many things you can do on mobile, it feels like it would be fun and different to play. I'm genuinely happy to have taken a look at it, and hope when it comes out live the bugs will be diminished. Will you play this game when it comes out?

Age of Wushu 2 Combat System Features Elements of Street Fighter Series

As Snail Games kicks off pre-registration for Age of Wushu 2, they reveal more gameplay details of the sandbox survival MMO. Many players are curious of how the combat system is like, and they can expect a Street Fighter style of combo system that requires you to know (or remember) the keys and buttons to make each move and combo.

Pressing the 1, 2, 3, 4 number keys aren't going to work in Age of Wushu 2, the developer says. Each combo is triggered by a combination of different buttons. Even each attack has "light" and "heavy" modes. Combining together the "light" and "heavy" modes, kick and fist, and different types of weapons, you can play a lot of different kung fu.

The combat system is optimized for gamepad control and if you in case have one, you should use it for PK.

Players who aren't good at close quarter combat can pick up ranged weapons such as bows, bolas, and concealed weapons. There are over 10 ranged weapons and they can be coated with poisons. Playing with ranged weapon can remind you of playing FPS games and it certainly costs "ammos".

Similar to Age of Wushu, there are internal skills (or inner skills) in Age of Wushu 2 as well. In AOW2, there are 5 types of internal skills, each of which is linked to one of the 5 elements: gold, wood, water, fire, and earth. To practice and improve a particular type of skill, you have to find the right environment. For instance, if you want to practice wood related internal skills you have to do it in a wooden hut or a Blessed Location related to wood. In the alpha zone Jiangnan, there will be 5 Blessed Locations players can discover. The developer warns that since everyone is looking for the Blessed Locations, those places are where PK will frequently take place.

Dragon Nest Mobile Beginner's Guide: Skill System

$
0
0
In Dragon Nest Mobile, there are 4 types of skills: active skills, survival skills, buff skills and special skills. Active skills are generally knowns as damaging skills, buff skills provide buffs to allies, survival skills are mostly evasion or aerial evasion skills, and last but not least special skills are like ultimate skills that deal high AoE damage.

Active skills are the main source of damage in Dragon Nest Mobile. Using these skills consumes MP (magic points) and incurs a cooldown of that particular skill which means that players will not be able to repeatedly using these skills. Some skills come with additional skill effect upon casting. For example, sorceress fireball inflicts burning on enemies causing damage over time while freezing sword inflicts freezing debuff upon casting. Flame road is one of sorceress unique skill which allows them to move around and damage enemies during the cast time. Players are only allowed to equip 5 primary skills at any one time thus a good combination of skillset is the key to achieving high damage output.

Survival skills consist of skills that allows player to dodge incoming attacks or to immediately recover from abnormal status. These skills do not consume MP but similar to active skills, there is a cooldown. However, some of the survival skills have prerequisite before they are able to be activated. For example, sorceress escape can only be activated once players are under attack while aerial evasion can only be activated once players are launched into the air by an enemy attack to re-position yourself. A timely use of survival skills prevents enemy to chain attack which can sometimes cost great damage to you. There are also certain survival skills which allow players to not only avoid attacks but also damage enemy at the same time ensuring maximization of damage output. Survival skills do not need to be equipped and can be activated anytime so long the prerequisites are met.

Buff skills can be either self-buff or party buff and it does not consume any MP. These skills have are durational buffs and cooldown are imposed upon casting. Common buffing skills include increasing attack, defense or even movement speed and attack speed buffs. Buffing skills are normally used during the start of the dungeon runs and reactivated whenever the duration ends. Players are able to equip themselves with 2 buffing skills at any one time. With a good combination of buffing skills, it will ensure players to complete dungeons with better ease.

Each class has their very own special or ultimate skill. Ultimate has the highest burst damage of all skills but it comes with high amount of MP consumption and high cooldown. Most of the ultimate restricts movement when casting and so it is recommended to only cast in a safe environment to ensure maximization of damage output and your own safety. Players are able to equip 1 ultimate at any one time.

This is bad news for fans of Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile and good news for people who look forward to play a high quality JRPG in VR. Yoshinori Yamagishi, the veteran who created Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile series, has concluded his 20-year career in Square Enix. Surprisingly he then joined another Japanese studio Monobits and will lead the development of a VR MMORPG.

You may not hear of Monobit Corporation before. The company produces all kinds of entertainment content from video games to VR/AR games and 360°movies. The company's VR division has created some VR games and VR experience for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive before that can be played by multiple players.

"Although VR game is a new genre that just started to grow, I believe it will be something that has endless of possibilities," Yamagishi said. We don't know what kind of VR MMO Yoshinori Yamagishi is working on except an image displayed on the official site, but we hope he would make us a VR RPG that changes the market like Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile did many years ago.

Omega Team, Roll Out: Marvel Heroes Omega Coming to Consoles in Spring

On April 5th, Sony published a blog article to announce an upcoming action-RPG MMO coming to their console: Marvel Heroes Omega! Originally on the PC back in 2013 (known as Marvel Heroes, Marvel Heroes 2015, and currently as Marvel Heroes 2016), console players now can share the experience and play many of their favorite characters! For those who had never played this game, it plays similar to RTS and dungeon crawling games.

In the forum, we are given more information that will be on console. The first thing to note is that, for the PS4, the closed beta is "scheduled to begin soon." To play it, you will need to select a variety of Founder's Packs that will be in the PlayStaion Store, the website for the PlayStation Store, or through the official website for Marvel Heroes Omega.

Related image
One of the characters that are available to play is Deadpool.

As a reward for joining their closed beta, they will recieve Daredevil, the Devil of Hell's Kitchen, for free. If you have a Playstation Plus membership, you also will gain a "Man Without Fear" costume for Daredevil along with "discounts on in-game currency purchases and other limited-time exclusive access to select heroes."  They also have a schedule for an "Early Access" program, which would begin near the end of the closed beta that would be available to closed beta users that had bought a Founder's Pack or Gs.
The "Man Without Fear" Costume

Like many closed betas, there will be a character wipe. However, if you purchased any Gs, it will return to you once the open beta begins. For Xbox Live users, there will be more news for you soon, since there are plans for a Xbox One closed beta. The reason for this is due to Gazillion being a smaller studio and that staggering the releases "will ensure we deliver the best possible experience for players on both platforms." For PC players that would like to transfer their characters or progress, unfortunately there are no plans for any transfers to be given from PC to Console. Also, due to different versions of the game, cross-platforming will not be available for PC-to-Consoles.

Now, what should you look foward to when the game arrives to PS4 and XB1? To start, you are given the following:
  • Chapters 1-9: Take the fight to Doctor Doom and the trickster god Loki in our fantastic nine-chapter story campaign.
  • Operations: In just a matter of minutes you and a group of friends can defeat super villains and foil their schemes.
  • Midtown Patrol: Defend Midtown Manhattan from the unrelenting onslaught of villains and their minions.
  • Danger Room: Enter the famous X-Men training simulator, featuring randomized missions, bosses, and hazards.
  • Legendary Missions: Once you’ve completed the story you have access to missions to acquire Legendary Marks of Odin which allows you to purchase Legendary Items.
  • Heroic, Superheroic and Cosmic trials: To get the best loot, you have to play on the harder difficulties. These trials make sure that you are truly ready to tackle those challenges.

To play these modes, there will be 38 heroes that will be available such as Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Storm, Deadpool, and more that they have yet to announce. Two heroes, Iron Fist and War Machine, will be exclusive to the Founder's Pack for 6 months. They also note that  "Players can also collect hundreds of costumes and Heroes from their favorite Marvel Teams, including the X-Men, Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and more."

I can't wait for them to give more details, especially for those who have an Xbox One and want to play this game. If you want to see the whole forum post and blog announcement, I'll post it again below. Will you be joining us when it launches?

Super Mario Run Android Review

$
0
0
Emblematic character of the video game world, Mario always somewhat represented the identity of Nintendo, being one of the first games released on the Famicon. While the Super Mario games were up till now exclusively available on Nintendo’s consoles (not counting emulators and unofficial ports), the firm has decided to review its policies to take advantage of the growing enthusiasm of players for mobile devices. This is how Super Mario Run was born, a title that comes with a price tag of $10, which is relatively high for a smartphone application.

As the name suggests, Super Mario Run is a runner, a genre that is rather popular on smartphones. It revolves around a relatively simple principle that blends itself well to our tactile interfaces: a hero runs all alone through levels, and it is up to the player to tap the screen to avoid enemies and obstacles, or gather items (coins in this case) and bonuses. As disappointing as it may be for purists, the new Nintendo mobile game takes up this concept while relying on the visual style of the Mario Bros universe. Thus, it would be wrong to consider Super Mario Run as a simple clone of Temple Run, since many adjustments in terms of gameplay have been included.

So yes, the title is playable with one finger, but developers have taken care to densify its gameplay as much as possible. When a simple tap is made, our plumber jumps, but it is also possible to carry out a whole lot of techniques more or less complex to realize. For example, if you leap against a wall, Mario will then slide along the wall and jump in the opposing direction if you tap again. Tapping and holding the screen allows for a higher jump, while tapping twice allows Mario to spin and glide over a small distance. With its precise and demanding timing, the whole thing therefore sometimes approaches the rhythm game. The newcomers will not, however, be lost as the whole is quite accessible and not difficult to master perfectly. The first screen that will be available to you is that of “World Tour” mode. It is used in a classical Mario Bros. fashion, with its 6 worlds, each comprising 4 stages, and the last stage of each world being a castle. That gives us a total of 24 stages, each taking between a hundred seconds to complete - let’s just say that we expected more for a $10 mobile game.

Let us now throw ourselves into our first level, which assumes the traditional appearance of the Mushroom Kingdom. The whole is pretty and we take a certain pleasure to make the little Mario twirl in all the senses. Your goal is simple: to reach the end of the level. For that, you have two lives available, but also all the classic power-ups, including the mushroom, additional lives and the all powerful stars. Once arrived at the end flag, the following course unlocks and so on. If you're the type to rusher without dwelling too much on the secondary objectives, you can complete the 24 levels in a bit over one hour. Otherwise, rest assured, Nintendo has reserved some more complex challenges for you.

Indeed, two secondary objectives are presented to us: to pick up a maximum number of coins and, if possible, to gather the five pink tokens hidden in each stage. If the first mission is not to be presented, the second deserves some explanation. In each course, five pink pieces are placed in places that are rather complex to reach. So you have to pull out a few well-perceived tricks, but also know the architecture of the level by heart to catch them all . And when you think you've come to the end of your troubles, the next difficulty unlocks prompting you to gather purple tokens, then black tokens that are much more difficult to find. With this recipe old as the world, Nintendo has certainly succeed in keeping even the most demanding players involved.

Super Mario Run offers the usual little scenario starting on the traditional abduction of Peach. The person responsible for this misdeed, Bowser, also took advantage of it to sack the Mushroom Kingdom, dispersing the Toads that inhabit it. The latter therefore count on you. With a simple tap on the main menu of the game, we find ourselves facing a colorful and particularly empty terrain. This is our new village that just needs to be rebuilt. To do this, you have a first solution consisting of gathering coins in the stages in order to buy different decorations that are completely cosmetic. Warp pipes, plants, cottages, you can then place your purchases on the multitude of empty boxes available.

Some of these decors will, however, require you to already have a set number of Toads supporting you already. And in order to attract more of them into your Kingdom, you must prove your bravery and talent in an artistic joust. You can challenge the performance another player, or rather one of the “ghost” of another player on any of the 24 stages available through the Toad Rally mode. The objective is to make use of the various tricks in the game to make the course as entertaining as possible to try to beat the "ghost" of your opponent running in the background alongside yours. In case of victory, a number of Toads proportional to your performance and the level of your competitor will join your village. Otherwise, the punishment will be salty: people will flee your village. And as if that wasn’t enough, you need a Rally Ticket to enter a Toad Rally, which limits your attempts at them. Understand that this is not a multiplayer mode for all that, it's all done offline, which means that players will be able to face your “ghost” even though you are not even connected. Do not worry, you do not risk anything in this case since only the person at the origin of the challenge is likely to lose Toads.

Virtually as beautiful as a 3DS game, Super Mario Run does not risk to disorient the fans of the license who will find with joy in exploring the Mushroom Kingdom, the cave of Bowser or the manor of Boo. We understand that Nintendo has brought as much attention to its second mobile title as any other title stamped with the white and gold logo. The promise of a real Mario on smartphone is clearly respected .

On the other hand, the developers have done a nice job of adaptation to the level of gameplay. Even if we note some fouls linked to the use of a single finger, we manage to sail our plumber where desired without too much effort. Even better, the catalog of figures proves surprisingly rich, offering many solutions to the obstacles present in the courses. From a technical point of view, the title is clearly a success .

So what do we have to blame it for? Two things. First of all, we did not mention it, but it is necessary to be permanently connected to the Internet to be able to play. Yes, this means that once you enter the subway or in some other area not served by your mobile operator, you will no longer be able to play. Then we have this famous economic model that has made so much talk about him, despite a good idea to start. While the game is technically free (or rather free to start), to unlock all the requested content, you will be asked to pay $10, a relatively high amount for a mobile application. But at this price, gets to escape the pitfalls of a Pay-to-Win cash shop.

Conclusion

There is no doubt that with Super Mario Run, Nintendo successfully brought its mascot into the world of smartphones. With a gameplay that is cleverly suited to single-finger gameplay, the title proves accessible to casual gamers, but difficult to master for the most demanding and overachievers. It however remains rather flat on the content side, since for $10, your adventure will be limited to 24 small levels. Hopefully the Japanese firm will release more stages in the future to justify the price tag.

You are limited to 2 dungeon entries each day and I highly suggest that you use these entries carefully. Party up with other players and enter only the dungeons you are confident to complete. Rare treasures awaits those who accomplish the dungeon.

The overall layout of the dungeon is shown on the minimap (Top right corner). The small dots are the location of monsters ( Bottom Left of the mini map) andd the circle on the right is the location of the Dungeon Boss.
I suggest that you stack up your pot supply and plan a strategy before entering a dungeon.

Is Playerunknown's Battlegrounds the H1Z1 Killer?

Hello Gamers,

In today’s article we will be looking at a game called PLAYERUNKNOWN's BATTLEGROUNDSand no I’m not shouting the game’s name because of excitement, the actual game’s title is in uppercase; but because it is a long title I will simply refer to as PUB from now on. The game is currently in Early Access and available for purchase at Steam. The developers behind it are Bluehole Inc. and Brendan Greene. For those that don’t know him, Greene is the creator of the Battle Royale mod in Arma series and H1Z1: King of the Hill.

People who have played any kind of last man standing game, like the ones mentioned above would be familiar with what I am about to explain, so feel free to continue to the next part. For those who haven’t any previous experience with battle Royale game. Here’s a little info about this game:

What is PLAYER UNKNOWN BATTLEGROUNDS exactly?

PLAYERUNKNOWN's BATTLEGROUNDSis a last man standing shooter game. Players are dropped off a plane when the match begins and their goal is simple. Stay alive and kill all the others.
The game takes place in an 8x8 Km island map with a lot of diverse and distinctive locations. There are the mines, a military base, farmhouses scattered across the map, a couple of small towns, forest areas, open fields, water areas and others. All in all it is a very rich playing environment.

Just like in H1Z1: King of the Hill, the game starts with an airplane drop. You are in the airplane along with 100 other players and as the plane flies over the island, one by one you jump off it. Some would say that the game begins once you land on the ground, but truth is that the game has started even before that. Your first major obstacle is surviving the parachute drop. Seeing where people drop and picking your own uncrowded landing spot is what you ought to do once the match begins.

Afterwards, just like the others last man standing games, your goals are simple, find guns, ammo, supplies and kill all the others. The game world is filled with a large variety of equipment all across the map. Weapon’s mods, medical supplies, grenades of differing types, clothes and of course guns!
Because a good defense is a good offense!

There are quite a lot of guns in the game, sniper rifles, assault rifles, handguns, shotguns, SMGs, in order to satisfy every playstyle.

Aside from equipment and supplies, you can also find vehicles, to help you traverse long distances faster. Most of the vehicles are often located in urban areas, but it is not unusual to find a car in other places.  The vehicles’ types range from normal cars to trucks and even boogie cars, like the one below.

Why I think PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS will be successful?

Truth be told, this game may as well fail the gaming community just like its predecessors, H1Z1:King of the Hill and Arma mod. However, up until now and a few months away from its official release, all signs indicate that this game is going well. It still has its issues, like server stability problems and frame drops, but visually and gameplay-wise I believe that it is far superior to the other two.

To kick it off, the game has very beautiful graphics and the level of details truly showcases the capabilities of Unreal engine 4. I feel that this game really raised the graphical standards for open world survival games. In comparison to H1Z1: King of the Hill which is the most recent one. It completely outclasses it, visually speaking.

Now gameplay-wise, I think that there are a number of reasons which make this game better than H1Z1: King of the Hill:

-Its weapon variety is much more balanced in terms of strengths/weaknesses and customability.

-Core mechanics of the game are more realistic. For example, you can’t just jump out of a speeding vehicle and walk out unscathed or with minimal damage like you did in H1Z1. If you do that in PUB, you will most like end up dead or at least gravely injured.

-The gunplay is also very well designed and less buggy than its counterparts. If I was to describe it. I would say that the gun controls in PUB are an improved version of CS:GO.

-Despite the game being in early Access, there are plenty of servers already and they are distributed evenly among the globe. There are servers for NA, EU, Asia, OCE and South America.

As mentioned before the game may have some stability issues with its servers from time to time, but this is something that even AAA games face. And as for the poor optimization and the frame drops, this is unfortunately the plague for that kind of games. Hosting a single, gigantic map where hundreds of players are connected at the same time is very resource-extensive. Hopefully tough, those issues will improve little by little, because as it is now even with a beast-PC, playing at Max settings with stable 60FPS is impossible.

To sum this up though, I believe that PUB can actually have a place as an e-sport in the competitive scene. The battle royale genre may not be the most popular one, but there are still a lot of people who like it. Generally, I think that PUB is a much better game than H1Z1 was and possibly ever will and I believe that most people who have played both will agree with me. H1Z1 let all its fans down by remaining the same by not improving its core mistakes, along with several other small things which added to the overall frustration of the fans. PUB has the chance to elarn from H1Z1 mistakes and possibly make big in the competive scene of e-sports. The hugest challenge that it has to overcome are the optimization issues , because there can't simply be a good e-sports scene with a game full of bugs.

Onmyoji Interview: NetEase Games Talks Releasing the Game in the West

Onmyoji is a phenomenal mobile game in Chinese market and what's more, its Chinese version is already a popular title in international market. You can read our previous article to learn why the game prevailed in Chinese market. The game will be coming to the west later this year and it's worth a lot of expectation. We have just forwarded some burning questions to the developer team about the game's western version. See what they said.

Onmyoji will launch the English version soon. What regions will the game be available in?
The English version mainly targets at English-speaking countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia and many European countries.

Has Netease Games or its US subsidiary conducted any market research in the English-speaking markets? Could you share what you learned with us?
The Onmyoji team as well as Netease Games are always committed to players and believing user research is a very important thing to do. We've been doing the market research for English-speaking regions for while and we'll host a FGD in early April. We learned from the research that players in English-speaking markets are sensitive to privacy, discrimination, and Nazi-related topics. In terms of gameplay experience, they have very distinctive characteristics. For instance, Chinese gamers enjoy leveling up and progressing in the game, so progression system is more important for them. Western players care more about whether the content they are currently playing is fun. Besides, North American players tend to pursue the immersion.

The game isn't rivaled by a tough competitor in the English market. Do you think it's a good thing for the game?
It could mean the market isn't big enough for this genre, and it could also mean a lot of potential audiences haven't been reached. Everything is to be seen. But we decided to go into this market, only because we were very confident of the future we will have there.

Onmyoji's universe, lore, and characters are inspired by Japanese mythology and ghost stories, so how do you plan to translate these content and make sure those contents can be perfectly perceived and understood by western players?
We have been polishing the translations for a long time and we of course have many translators and QA staff whose native language is English. We have confidence in the English version and believe it can be enjoyed by western players.

Will you develop specific gameplay content for western players?
We won't make too many changes in the core gameplay systems but will adjust the in-game events according to the market. Onmyoji is developed for international market from the ground up, and it aims at providing the best quality of art, music, story, and gameplay. What's more, Onmyoji's cultural content and diversity are also world-class.

One important reason Onmyoji prevails in China is that the huge Japanese style anime, Dojin and Cosplay community helps promote the game. However, the western market may not have such a big community, how do you think of it?
Before the game released in China, it's considered a game for minority and wouldn't succeed. The fact is the Japanese anime, comic and game culture keeps going to the west since last century. Many western players like this culture, and don't forget the huge ethnic Chinese in the west are also actively promoting the Asian culture.

At last, could you talk about your expectation of the game in the western market?
Of course I hope it will succeed, in both revenue and player number. We noticed many players asked for English version on Facebook and Twitter, and we were inspired and encouraged. So I hope western players will enjoy Onmyoji English version.

Conan Exiles: See What Happens When a Large Clan Pisses off a Solo Player

Conan Exiles is a sanbox, survival MORPG focuses on exploring, crafting and building. But sometime things take a turn forth worse when people are acting a bit rude in the game.

The story is one day, a clan named Ring of Kings in Conan Exiles made the grave mistake of raiding and looting the base of a solo player (IEDBUM) who hadn't done anything wrong to them. The clan did that raid twice when the player was offline, which was prohibited by the server rules. After reporting the incident to the developers and not getting any response, the player decided to take the situation in his hands. After faking a ragequit, he came back two weeks later, rebuild his base and started worshipping a god.

After you become a devout follower of a god, you can summon him for a limited time as an avatar and wreak havoc to all the lesser beings. That player decided to summon Yog, a god in the Conan universe who is based of Lovecraft's Cthulu.

Well, the result is overly satisfying as you can see in the video below. And let's hope that this solo player's action will stand as a warning to all large clans before they decide to bully people who are playing solo.

Revenge is like ice cream, sweet and cold.

According to IEDBUM, it took him 2 days to wait and farm the Yog solo in order to be able to summon him.
