MU Legend Lore Introduction and Character Creation Preview (Global CBT)

$

0
MU is one of the very first 3D MMORPG that was released way back 2003. In 2004 the first rumors of a MU2 being developed first surfaced but not until 2009 was the game development really started. On 2011 the very first trailer of the MU2 was showcased, the game is based on Unreal Engine and shares many familiar features with the first MU. Last year, MU2 was renamed to MU Legend and last 3 days ago, October 25th, was the start of its Closed Beta Test (Global).

Lore Introduction:
After logging in and selecting your server, you will have a glimpse of the game lore and an introduction to some of the characters. The very first scene is haunting, catastrophic and dramatic. This is your typical "the world is going to end", Good vs Evil scenario with great art and plot twist. One of those twist is a great sage named Kundun who sealed Sekneum the god of destruction inside his body. After a thousand years, Kundun lost the fight with Sekneum inside him and the great sage is now the embodiment of darkness he ones tried to defeat. With only the city of Lorencia left standing, you have to go to Kethatoom and help Icarus to seal Kundun.
Most of the games I played have a class selection screen that only shows very limited information on how the class looks like and a little preview of the class background info, MU Legend is different

Class Selection:
Although gender locked, MU Legend currently offers 5 classes. 4 playable class and 1 that is currently "in preparation". The 5 classes are the Dark Lord, Blader, War Mage, Whisperer and the tease Emphasizer (in preparation). The MU Legend class selection screen shows off a selected class skill rotation video which you can see on the lower right corner. On the same screen, you can also view the character wearing 5 of the armor/cloth set along with the 2 alternating class weapons.

Class recommended tactics and skill preview:
Still on the class selection screen, you may click on the "See recommended tactics" button to view the 2 recommended class builds that are based on each of the 2 weapons that the selected class can equip. The selected builds also have main difference such as one build focus more survival/tanking while the other build is more of a damage dealer, others focus on sustainable high damage output while the alternate build have more strategy in mind. By hovering your mouse cursor over the skill icons, you will see a complete and clear description of the skills along with a video showing the skill in action.

Character Design:
You may design your character after clicking the "Appearance settings" button on the class selection screen. The appearance settings screen is equipped with different facial/head, facial options along with facial and body tattoos which are a work of art! You may also choose the color for all the 4 options. Limited options for now and surely there’s more to come, even though, the character designs are beyond beautiful, they are gorgeous!

Race and Class:
Each class is equipped with 2 race options.

The HUMANS: Your typical race which dominates all the playable class.

Class affinity
Dark Lord, Blader, War Mage, Whisperer and probably Emphasizer too!

The Kanturu: Glaring eyes surrounded by a scary built. They speak power and brutality.

Class affinity: Blader.

The Ashas: Reminds me of the frost giants in a movie (Thor). Cold spear eyes with a body built that seems to send shivers through your spine.

Class Affinity: Dark Lord and War Mage.

The Elf: Elves, beauty is not enough. Gorgeous creatures... *cough* wifu material *cough*...

Class Affinity: Whisperer

Race: ?_? probably human or elf? or another race named "mini minotaur"? Dwarven maybe?

Class Affinity: Emphasizer (in preparation)
Video of the MU Legend Lore introduction, Class and Character creation preview:

Note: I apologize for the low quality video. I recorded this on my new machine and forgot to change the settings on my video recorder. You may skip the skill previews if you want, but I suggest that you check out the skill videos. Max quality is at 480p... 720p will be uploaded soon...

Do you agree with my race descriptions? How much time did you spend in creating your character? Tell us on the comment section below.

Thanks!

Clash Royale: Best Skeleton Army Deck which could be the best Graveyard Deck

$
0
0
This is one of the best Skeleton Army (Skarmy) decks at the moment, however I am excited for the relaease of the Graveyard tomorrow which could replace the Skeleton Army in this deck with a few other small tweeks.

In this particular deck the Skarmy is mainly used in defence giving the option to counter with either the Miner, Lava Hound, Mega Minion or Baby Dragon. The best part of this deck is that the playstyle of it is quite relaxed whereas some decks are just not built to be able to defend against a powerful Air Push with Skeleton back up, this translates to multiple crowns per victory speeding up your daily Crown Chest grind.

The Deck:

Lava Hound
Baby Dragon
Mega Minion
Skeleton Army
Tombstone
Zap
Miner (can swap for Ice Spirit)
Inferno Dragon (potential swap with Minions/Minion Horde)

The perfect attack in time-order of placement: Tombstone, Lava Hound, Mega Minion or Inferno Dragon, Baby Dragon with the Miner being sent onto the tower before the Lava Hound pops. If you are able to add the Skarmy to this push (overtime), the push becomes insanely scary, just make sure not to allow an insane elixir efficient Zap/Arrows to land on the Lava Pups and Skarmy.

The main push of this deck starts at 9-9.5 elixir with the tombstone which is placed in the middle of your field between the two towers. This is then followed by the Lava Hound which you put in the bottom corner of the lane which has tombstone skeletons pushing out from. From here there are a number of variations you can do and it all depends on what you have seen (or not seen) from the opponent.

Giant/Golem/Royal Giant/Lava Hound: save the Inferno Dragon to counter these and then try to counter with the Lava Hound in front of the Inferno Dragon followed by the Baby Dragon. Drop the Inferno Dragon as soon as it is possible for the Inferno Dragon to start beaming away, the later you leave it the more effective the opponent’s Zap will be, if the opponent has the capability to snipe it off make sure to protect it with the Lava Hound or Miner.

Ice Wizard/Wizard/Minions/Musketeer: put Mega Minion behind the lava hound, do not let the Mega Minion be sniped and the Mega Minion will do work.

Spear Goblins/Goblins/Skeletons/Tombstone/Skarmy/Minion Horde: should the opponent not be able to put down troops on your side of the river, put the Baby Dragon down only when the Lava Hound has either just crossed or just before crossing the river, have zap at the ready for Minion Horde that and the fire breath from the Baby Dragon will kill most if not all of them. Follow up with the Mega Minion or the Inferno Dragon if the opponent doesn’t have Giant/Golem/Royal Giant/Lava Hound. The reason you leave the dropping of the Baby Dragon so late is due to it’s speed, it will either push your Lava hound (which can sometimes be useful in very specific, rare occasions) or overtake both of which spoil your build up attack which this deck is built on.

Hog Rider: you have two options here either save your tombstone to pull Hog to centre or use Skarmy to kill Hog before it reaches the tower. If player has Zap in hand and you have to use Skarmy, put the Skarmy in the centre so the side where the Hog is attacking still has some skeletons spawning there, this will lessen the effect of Zap – if you put Skarmy directly on Hog with Zap in the opponents hand they can simply be all zapped off. If the opponent has Log I recommend using Tombstone to pull hog into the centre of your arena.

Lightning: Mega Minion gets one shotted by Lightning, so only use it once Lightning has been used or perhaps in a rather awkward Mega Minion Skarmy counter push.

Princess: Save the Miner to snipe the Princess, this is more important than tanking for the Lava Pups, ignore Elixir Collectors. If you do not kill the Princess with the Miner you will find it very difficult to kill her efficiently and also it will mess-up your big push.

Zap: if the opponent has Zap abuse the fact that you have three units which are all Zap worthy - in no particular order: Lava Pups, Skarmy and Inferno Dragon.

If you do not start with either the Tombstone or Lava Hound in hand, do not fret! Wait to see if the opponent drops anything and react accordingly. If the opponent continues to wait either play Mega Minion in a corner or send Miner by himself to a tower or just simply wait until 65 seconds left and then play Mega Minion or Miner, this will then allow you to start your big push cycle which is very potent in overtime as all relatively expensive build up decks are. This deck really flourishes in overtime and this is especially true if you have managed to destroy one of the opponents towers, if you have done so it is possible to start your push and then cycle all the way back in time to drop a second Lava Hound on the opponents side of the arena allowing your Mega Minion, Baby Dragon, Inferno Dragon, Skeletons more protection to rip/beam/swarm your opponent apart.

In summary, defend and react accordingly to your opponent until you have your big build-up push to hand, when you have it you can start to dictate the passage of play. For some visual representation I have linked a below video which has gameplay footage of this strategy accompanied with commentary:

If you have any questions on this or anything else please let me know, I am always more than happy to try and answer.

Hello Games Mistakenly Tweeted "No Man's Sky Was a Mistake" - Report

A recent twitter post from Hello's Games made a surprising statement that directly admitted their own game No Man's Sky was a mistake. Later on Sean Murray, the studio co-founders, said to Polygon that the studio's Twitter account was hacked and made that "brutally honest' tweet. This tweet was deleted immediately while the studio's Twitter account was set to "private".

However, the fact was the Twitter account was never hacked, according to a following statemetn from Hello Games, it was a disgruntled employee in the studio who made the tweet.

Below you can see the email sent by Sean Murray to all media to clarify the "mistake".

No Man’s Sky was a mistake.

I have contacted you because the silence from Hello Games has been unwarranted and unprofessional. The community has asked me to speak up, and I have a confession to make. The game was  simply unfinished upon arrival. Our hand was forced by not only Sony, but the community as well. The constant harassment and absolute gross misconduct on the community’s part has made  it hard to fulfill our artistic vision, while the pressure from Sony to release the game as soon as possible forced us to cut key features. I want to apologize for what we did not  deliver on, as the game does not meet up to what our artistic vision was.

However, we do wish that the community was more understanding of our situation. Many people have asked for refunds despite our promise to continually improve and update No Man’s Sky. We  are just a small studio that has poured our blood, sweat, and tears into this project. The complete lack of respect when it comes to the work we have done absolutely saddens not only  myself, but the team as well. We want to improve the game to the point we dreamed of it being and beyond.

I hope everyone affected understands,
Sean Murray

Paris Game Week 2016: Dual Universe Interview - a New Generation Sci-fi MMO

$

Sets in a fully editable world wich allow gamers to build their own society, Dual Universe focuses on collecting and progression based around exploration, mining, crafting, trade, politics and warfare. It's an MMO game that can be sumarized with these 3 words : Rebuild Civilisation Together.

I met the French developer team at the Paris Game Week 2016 and JC Baillie, founder and president of Novaquark (the left one on the picture below), kindly accepted my brief interview.

3dual Universe" french team at PGW 2016
Dual universe had a success in the Kickstarter campaign as they raised around $620K. The game promised us the gameplay of "do anything you want, do invent your universe".

What would be the release date of Dual universe?
Fall of 2018. For now our goal is to present the alpha stage before summer 2017. And the alpha should last around one year.

What is the diffence between Dual Universe and traditional MMO?
First of all, Dual Universe is a Boundless Massively Multiplayer Game: potentially millions of players can share the same universe at the same time. In simple worlds, no boundaries, no zones, no instances.

There is no quest or story mode like tradionnal MMO games where players tradionnaly go through;
there is no EXP required for leveling.

It is a full editable world, where gamers permanently invent into their universe, their economy, their religion, their gouvernment, and everything they need to go on. Players can create or buy any object to construct bigger things like space-ships, houses, cities... anything. They only need raw materials that they could buy in a trade market or craft by themselves like mining. You are a god in a virgin universe. But you are not alone.

However, like tradional mmo, the guild system is very important. We have already had a forum where gamers can promote their guilds.

What is the in-game economic system like?
Gamers can trade anything they need through player-to-play trade or through their guild. There is no limitation and there will be a realistic in-game economy based on market orders, financial tools, and virtual in game currency.

How about the PVP and PVE system?
For the moment there is no instance or dungeon. PvP will take place outside the safe zones. In a future expansion it will also be possible to do construct PVP (ships vs. ships for intance).

Is it a free-to-play MMO?
Absolutly no. There will be a monthly subscription fee which is around $13; but there will be a coupon system that will allow players to pay the subscription fee with in-game currency. So anyone could play without paying real money as long as they are very active in game.

Thank you very much for your time.

Hack 'n' Slash MMO MU Legend Closed Beta Review

History and Information

MU Legend is a hack 'n' slash MMORPG developed and published by Webzen and the game's first close beta starts on October 25, 2016. It is the sequel to MU Online - one of the earliest 3D MMORPGs in South Korea. Originally named MU2, the game was announced in 2004, but its development actually began in 2009.

MU Legend features 4 classes (with one in development)  with two races of each. Choose to be a Blader - Human or Kanturu, Dark Lord - Human or Ashas, War Mage - Human or Ashas, or a Whisperer - Human or Elf ( the classes are gender locked). Level up as you fight mobs, gain experience and unlock stronger abilities. Pick up loot to craft gear, and join a party with friends to experience the group dungeons. MU Legend features a guild system, a quest system, skill trees, and different game modes/dungeon objectives.

Gameplay and Mechanics

It's a point-and-click game. Skills and spells can be executed using the default Q,W,E,R,T keys. As for the potions and other stuff, players can set them on the default 1-5 keys. In the later levels of the game, a player will have too many skills for their hotbar. This is where the F keys comes in handy. You can save various skill sets in this manner. For example, my F1 setup is for AoE training and party play while my F2 hotbar is set to tanking and healing spells mainly for boss battles, F3 for my PvP and for whatever you like. You are able to switch between the skill sets anywhere and anytime as long as there are no skills that are under cooldown. Players can also unlock special rune slots to their skills by successfully using them a lot of times . Once a slot is unlocked, a player can then equip passive runes on to the skills to receive special stat bonuses (For a first rune I recommend +power on the damaging skills just because it does most damage and other things like armor penetration don't matter in early game). Most of the PvE content of the game is really easy.

Most people would enjoy killing 30 monsters per quest, but MU Legend  makes players kill 3-5 monsters per quest or mobs with low health. It's pretty convenient because you're moving from area to area really fast changing sceneries often, which also prevents getting bored of grinding the same zone for hours ( even though I'm into more grindy games). If you've had enough of the quest hub questing, you can opt out of the sub quests and just focus on the main story quests and dungeons along the way,but I recommend you do them because they give you lots of exp (and for me it's very fun ). The dungeons in this game have various difficulty settings and offers a maximum of 400% boost in drop rate and a ton of Exp boost. However, it's not really worth the trouble to play the hardest setting unless you want a challenge. Most players will select the easiest difficulty just to level up and reach the cap fast.

Aside from having normal leveling, the game also offers Soul Levels at the start of the game. Soul Levels are like extra stats that you can use to make your character become stronger. These stats are like Physical Attack, Magic Attack, Attack Speed, Crit Chance, Magic Def, Phys Def, and more. For example, upon hitting the Closed Beta level cap let's say 65, the Soul Levels can be around level 55. You can no longer gain main levels, but you can continue to farm stuff and earn more Soul Levels. The Soul Levels window has a lot of stats, so it will actually take a lot of time and effort to max them all out. It's not something that can be maxed easily as most of the things max out at 60 soul points (or 30).  You will be able to reset your points you put on the special stats (the more points you've put the more it costs) and distribute it into other tabs anytime you want. There is also a pet system where you can raise the pet's effects and stats. Some pets will fight with you while some are passive but have better effects in my opinion.

There a couple of ways to earn enchanting stones for upgrading weapons and armor, but the most efficient way to obtain them is through the capture the point PvP system. It's a medium size 10vs10 arena stage where players capture points on the map or go on a killing frenzy. In the PvP you might keep getting one shotted or dying randomly due to lag,but the game is in it's first closed beta,so a lot of things may change. Enchanted gear plays a big role in the PvP arena given the game is based heavily on enchants.

MU Legend's crafting system is very simple - just break down all of the equipment you come across the game and craft new gear around your level. Recipes automatically unlock as you close in on the level gap and it seems like players are able to craft decent gear without much farming like crazy. There is also an enchanting system where players can upgrade their gear. At around +8 the equipment will start to glow (at least for the wings) and from what Koreans say, when wings your wings hits +15, it's possible to evolve it, but I've only saw a growing option, though it's probably for late game.
There are special daily dungeons and quests that reward green and blue token like gems. These gems are used for a lot of things such as buying a new mount, costumes, wings, enchanting cosmetics, equipment and more. It's very easy to collect them and the items are not that expensive.

Pros :
- Nice character graphics and effects
- I like the skill system
- Original Soul levels that add personality and fun to the gameplay
- Not grindy and there's a lot of variety
- Fast leveling and a lot of easy dungeons with amazing prizes

Cons :
- Graphics of the environment can be funky and bad
- There are a lot of bugs and lag (but it's first closed beta so they're expected to be fixed)
- I don't like the controls - Personally I don't find easy to control and attack at the same time with one button.First it's going to kill your mouse pretty fast if you play it a lot and second it's just not as fast and dynamic as it would be if you controlled the character with the arrow keys or WASD.Just not my type
- Game feels like single-player, even if you do party dungeons and PVP it still feels lonely.
- Not much customization at the moment and the costumes and wings seem too much as you barely see what you're doing in late game

If you have any other questions about the game you can ask them in the comments or e-mail me on atito12@abv.bg

EA Bans an Entire Country from Using Origin

It appears that EA decided to ban an entire country from Origin, and they haven't chosen Vatican. According to a Reddit user, PC gamers located in Myanmar (also know as Burma) from South East Asia, cannot access their games or login to their accounts, being unable to use the EA's Origin client at all. The Myanmar players are "welcomed" with an Access Denied message and it's been reported that Origin is no longer available in Myanmar". It seems that EA decided to terminate its Origin service in that country, without carring too much about those affected by it. The EA's rough decision to no longer offer Origin services in Myanmar is caused by the US sanctions against this country. Even though the sanctions were lifted on October 7th, the EA's service is still unavailable in Myanmar. Other content distribution networks like Steam or GOG are working smoothly in the region.

A recent post made by EA_Tom, the community manager on Answers.ea.com states the following : "We are working to restore access to Origin for our players in Myanmar. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and we’ll share updates on timing as soon as possible." With a population  of more than 50 million people, we can assume that the number of players affected by this sudden ban is impressive. We will keep you posted on this matter.

The Issues Of An Ever Evolving MMO Universe (Part 1/3) - The History of MMORPGs

$
0
0
While the definition is still up to debate (that's for another article), MMORPGs offer players the ability to evolve through open worlds with thousands (or hundreds?) of other participants, in a universe created from scratch where they more or less have an impact. And like with the real world, the univers of MMOs is evolving with the times, offering subscribers (or not), new content and new challenges, sometimes even changing the very face of the world in which they are held.

For those of you that are not familiar with it, a while back, the Nostalrius case brought up a rather thorny issue: the archives in the world of MMOs. When it comes to regular single player games, there is nothing easier. Take the CD, or the cartridge, put it into your console and voila, you can experience/re-experience the game as it was released, with a few exceptions, of course. With an MMO, however, in most cases, it is impossible to replay the game that you purchased, the latter being greatly changed over the years.

Back to Nostalrius, it was basically a World of Warcraft private server allowing users to enjoy the game as it was in 2005. Nostalrius was eventually shut down, and Blizzard has always remained deaf to the demands of users asking them to create Vanilla servers.

Another more recent example would be ArcheAge. Most would agree that the game was at its best during the Alpha testing phase, up until the time around the release of Auroria. It was a great game with amazing potential that received a number of unwanted changes. Of course, not all the updates were bad, and a lot of the aspects of the game were improved these last couple of years. But most would love having the possibility to play the game as it was at the time of its release.

So a question arises: when buying an MMO, should we accept that it changes, even if the features and policies that convinced us to purchase it are altered drastically? Should we accept that after a few years, or even a few months, the game no longer looks like the product that appealed to you at the time?

A complicated issue, since the archiving process in MMO games seems to be an impasse.

This series of article will focus on these issues, and potential solutions. But before that, we will focus on the types of changes MMO’s went through, for better and for worse. Indeed, before tackling the archiving problems in MMOs, it is necessary to make a small summary of the history of the genre. Contrary to belief, the MMO genre is almost as old as the video game industry itself. Some developers have indeed had the early dream of uniting a large number players in a virtual world. Developers that were in most cases inspired by the world of role-playing games, where players gather around a table to work together in the same world.

We can identify four major periods in the history of MMOs. Periods related to the success of some games, but also to the evolution of the Internet. Note that these periods are nothing official, since I set them arbitrarily for these articles.

Archaic Era

The first games, or rather software, which can be considered the first step towards MMO’s are the multi-user dungeon, or MUD, playable in the late 70’s. As the name suggests, the MUD met various players in a textual universe (no graphics at the time). These were followed by a more ambitious successor, the multi access dungeon (MAD). This French creation of the 80’s did not use the Internet as we know it, but the BITNET protocol. Players could work together to complete quests, even if they were not in the same place. A miracle at the time.

But the game considered the first real commercial MMORPG in history is none other than Neverwinter Nights. No, not that of 2002, but the 1991 one developed by AOL. First graphical MMO, it offered players the possibility to immerse themselves fully in a 2D world, with other adventurers. As a true precursor, Neverwinter Nights did not use the Internet (still nonexistent for the general public), but the phone lines. A financial windfall for AOL that was paid 6 dollars an hour by players. Neverwinter Nights will be closed in 1997.

Other MMO’s made similar timid appearances in the early 90s, such as as Dark Sun Online: Crimson Sands, also run by AOL. Nevertheless, the appearance of the public internet net in the mid 90’s changes the market. The developers see it as an opportunity to connect thousands of players simultaneously. A dream that could take shape. But creating an MMO is more complex than it seems, since the connections speeds are still not optimal. One person, Richard Garriott, will seize this chance by endorsing a saga already well established in the world.

Classical Era

Richard Garriott, the developer behind the Ultima saga, sees this as a golden opportunity to further develop the franchise’s universe, which exists since 1981. With his company, Origin Systems, he created the first real popular MMO, Ultima Online. A coherent 2D universe in which thousands of players can simultaneously connect to collaborate and compete. The game was an immediate success and other studios are interested in following in its footsteps. This is the beginning of what we will call (arbitrarily) the classical era. Note that Ultima Online, having seen 9 major extensions so far, is still played today, 19 years after its release.

The success of Ultima, the democratization of the Internet and the emergence of ADSL allows other MMORPG’s to emerge. A shovelful of fantasy worlds are born with more or less success.

Among these successes, we can mention the legendary Everquest (1999), followed by a second episode in 2004. Asheron's Call (published by Microsoft) was released in 1999 and features a gigantic world. In 2001 comes the fabulous Dark Age of Camelot, which takes place in a world full of Arthurian legends. Impossible to avoid mentioning Anarchy Online, which abandoned the fantasy genre for pure SF, on a huge planet full of life. Some known licenses are also entitled to their MMO like Star Wars Galaxies that can be classified as one of the good ones, or even the abominable Matrix Online.

Nevertheless, this type of experience was somewhat restricted a small number of players. At the time, buying a game THEN pay a monthly fee discouraged many consumers who wondered why they had pay several times to enjoy a game. In addition, the Internet connection is not an obvious thing in every home in the late 90s and making people grasp the fact that a game required an online connectivity was not easy for developers.

Then one day in November 2004 (in the US), a game changed the situation. A game that redefined the concept of online gaming. A game so popular that it allowed the MMO stage to evolve from niche playing, to goldmine. This game, you guessed it, is World of Warcraft.

WoW Era

We will not go back on it, but World of Warcraft has been a revolution in the world of MMOs. Love it or not, you have to agree that it was a turning point in this genre that was once very discreet. With over 12 million players in its Golden Age (2011), it brought MMOs in popular culture. And of course, the success of Blizzard MMO has whetted the appetite of the competition.

World of Warcraft had created a new mold, a new way of understanding the MMO genre that had been declining in other games over and over again. But besides being an exceptional game, WoW has come at the right time, a period when ADSL was democratized, where the Heroic Fantasy was fashionable (thank you Lord of the Rings), and especially by exploiting a saga that was already known and recognized by players.

We can not count the number of “WoW-killer” projects emerged in the years following the launch of World of Warcraft. A shovelful of projects more or less ambitious that wished to resume the success formula and attempt to dethrone it. But the conclusion is clear: in 12 years of existence, World of Warcraft has never had to worry about its throne. Even today, at a time where the MMO subscription system is part of prehistory, the game still has over 5 million players.

Here is a list of games that have attempted to dethrone World of Warcraft:

  • The Lord of the Rings Online (2007)
  • Age of Conan (2008)
  • Aion (2009)
  • D&D Online (2006)
  • Rift (2011)
  • DC Universe Online (2011)
  • Star Wars The Old Republic (2011)
  • Warhammer Online (2008)

Of course, all games are not to be put in the same basket, far from it. If we were to retain only the real “WoW-killers”, this list would be made up only Warhammer Online. At the time of its development, Warhammer was THE game made to tickle the gigantic Blizzard. There is no doubt that this one game was developed with the main purpose of taking WoW’s playerbase and making it its own. Basically, Warhammer Online placed its bet on taking up the formula WoW improving it. And above all, Warhammer was based (like WoW) on a known universe that shared a number of similarities with Blizzard’s game.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Warhammer had its release date (September 2008) set a month before the release of WoW’s Wrath of the Lich King extension. But in the end, the fight of the century that we expected did not occur. Warhammer Online was released in haste, and a lot of the promises made were not in the final game. If this mistake was subsequently corrected, it was too late, Wrath of the Lich King had already cemented WoW’s place on the throne. The game continued for a few years, eventually closing its doors in 2013.

There is a shovelful of other examples, but the pattern is always the same: WoW is still in the first place. Hard to find an end to the WoW era, but in this case, we'll arbitrarily link it to a specific event: the transition to free-to-play of Star Wars The Old Republic (released in late 2011). The game, featuring one of the best licenses, and focusing on history and offering a galaxy to explore, also failed at repeating WoW’s success. At the end of its life and with barely any subscribers left, SWTOR was rescued by an event: the transition to a free to play mode.

Modern Era

With developers tired of trying, and failing, to dethrone WoW, and especially following the logic of the market, the MMO genre has evolved and in 2016, only a few games offer the archaic system of monthly subscriptions. After SWTOR, other games have attempted the coup, as The Elder Scrolls Online or even Wildstar, but all eventually had to switch to free-to-play or buy-to-play, using cash shops to monetize themselves.

The MMORPG market, while very diversified today, does not really have titles that stand out. Moreover, the games involving the most players are not necessarily MMORPG’s. The trend is in eSports and games like League of Legends, Counter-Strike, Dota 2 or Hearthstone are at the center of the stage. Everything moves faster today, and few players want to invest heart and soul in the same game.

By analyzing the thing, it should be noted that the basic formula (gameplay) does not seem to evolve in the world of MMOs since World of Warcraft. Some games, like Black Desert, tried to completely reinvent the formula. However, none has yet managed to repeat the feat of the Blizzard game by giving a new impetus to the genre. By leaving out the RPG aspect, however, the MMO genre is still experiencing success. For example, impossible not to mention the mobile games (Clash of Clans, for example, because yes, it is a massively multiplayer game), which bring together millions of players every day. Pokemon GO is also opening new paths for the MMO genre with augmented reality as its focus.

And this brings us to the end our look into the past of MMOs. The next articles will be more focused on the archiving issues in MMOs, and how they could (potentially?) be fixed.

Lil’ Conquest, an adorable strategy game where you take over the world, one village at a time, surprises players with cute Chinese zombies in this Halloween festival. Seriously? These little zombies destroy villages. It’s time to unite and fight at http://lc.loygame.com/.

Lil’ Conquest’s Halloween event comes with the invasion of Chinese zombies. Players will have to unite all members in their alliance to beat off zombies and protect their village from aggression. Different from scary western zombies, the Chinese zombies are poisonous but pretty cute as innocent angels at the first glance. It’s hard for players to believe that most armies died in seconds before the second round started when resisting zombies of the lowest level.

Lil' Conquest Halloween Event

These zombies are of different levels, ranging from the weakest zombies of zero star to the strongest zombies of five stars. Each level includes ten waves of zombies for players to defeat. Top five alliances that fight off the most waves of zombies will win up to 2 million coins, 400 blue diamonds, 200 sweep tickets and more SP. Those alliance leaders will receive an additional 777 blue diamonds as a reward for their success. The event will last three days from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2. Players only have three chances to fight the zombies each day during the event. It seems not easy but will be exciting experiences for players to combat.

Resisting zombies is not the only thing prepared for players in this Halloween. Players will enjoy some free gifts for every day play during the Halloween week. For players who want to buy red diamonds(in-game currency), Halloween would be the best time to recharge for extra items.

Clash Royale: Powerful ‘Double Golem’ Deck for Arena 8-9

Hey Guys! This deck will feature a new set of combinations which include the introduction of the ice golem as well. With new cards coming in on a frequent basis, this deck is definitely one of those exciting and promising ones.

This battle strategy can be used in Arena 8 and higher.

Battle Deck:

Golem + Musketeer + Mega Minion + Elixir Collector + Ice Golem + Zap+  Lightning Spell + Ice Spirit

Use and role of each card:

1.Golem:

The Golem is one of those high elixir expensive cards, so it is important to make sure that the elixir is well spent. The role of the Golem in this deck is to simple absorb the damage the opponent can put on you while sending in other offensive troops behind the golem. You could therefore look at the golem as a shield. However, even this ‘shield’can be extremely effective when it makes it to the opponent’s tower.

When it comes to the strategy, it would be advisable to send the golem behind your very own tower in order to build elixir and align troops like the musketeer behind the golem! This strategy can also expose your opposite lane leaving very little elixe in order to defend from attacks. This is when cards like the zap, ice spirit and the ice golem can come into play as they are cheap in nature.

The Musketeer:

The musketeer is in this deck for two main simple reason. One being its great damage causing ability. The musketeer can cause a significant amount of damage with each shot. Reason number two is because the musketeer can shoot from long range which means that the musketeer dos not have to make its way till the tower to cause damage,

The musketeer can be paired up with the Golem in order to shield itself and in turn, this combination can be formidable in nature.

3.Mega Minion:

As I had mentioned in my previous article as well I had mentioned the necessity of keeping a flying unit in this deck to take out those ground troops.

Although I am not a great fan of this card, this card fits right into the deck. Unlike the minions or the horde the mega minion can give you the added defensive hit points. The damage that the mega minion can cause is also significant.

4.Ice Spirit:

While he the Fire Spirit is specifically in this deck to take out troops like the minions and cause effective damage to other troops like the barbarians, skeleton army etc. the ice spirit on the other hand looks to provide more time along with the damage that it can cause.

What’s more is that the ice spirit is a low elixir card that will give you an elixir advantage and the advantage to win!

5.Elixir Collector:

The basis to win a  game would be to deal and win in elixir trade offs. An efficient way to ensure that would be by adding the collector to your deck. The deck currently consists of troops like the golem which require a high amount of elixir. With the elixir collector pumping elixir on the other end, the opponent can be put under a lot of pressure.

Another approach of using the collector can be seen as a way of distraction. When troops like the prince, hog rider, giant etc are approaching, this collector can be used to serve as a distraction.

6.Zap:

Attacking combinations or troops like the minion horde can be stopped by using the zap, It can seen as a quick and effective means for defense as well as offense.

The minion horde and the skeleton army are especially vulnerable against the zap. The zap can eliminate flying threats against the golem.

7.Lighting Spell:

The Lightning spell is often the decision maker of the game! This spell can either make or break your game. The spell is extremely useful at the endings of a match when things get a little close. The lightning spell will ensure victory by taking out the towers directly.

This spell can also be targeted on troops. An attacking combination can easily be taken out provided that the spell hit the troops. The spell hits a certain area and therefore troops near that area should be immediately targeted.

8.Ice Golem:

The Ice Golem is a new addition to the game and has seen to be of great use to several recent decks. The ice golem comes only at the cost of 3 elixirs..

The ice golem does not die without causing some sort of a distress to the opponent! This makes it a must have card in your deck. This card could form the basis for any defense!

Battle Strategy:

Offensive: Golem + Musketeer + Zap

This battle strategy follows a pattern of line where the golem is sent outfirst behind your own tower followed by the musketeer to add an offensive touch to the combination.  The zap on the other hand is for a conditional purpose, The greatest threat of the golem and musketeer combination is the minion horde, The zap can be used to counter this threat and claim towers.

Defensive: Mega minion,  Zap, Ice Spirit, Elixir Collector etc.

As usual ash has chosen a bunch of cards where the defense does not spend much on elixir. However this does not mean he defense is weak. The cards in the defensive department can effectively take out almost every attacking threat. Be it by way of distraction or simply zapping, the strategy used can be simple and vital!

Be careful with your defensive choices as each card in this deck is chosen to help you in defending against whatsoever the attack may be.

TIPS:
1.A low average elixer cost can mean piling up troops and creating offensive pushes.
2.Attack one lane while carefully defending the other.
3.As it is a combination strategy remember to use each card to supplement the other.
3.Use your final sixty seconds wisely, don’t let your opponent rush you.
4.Watching videos and understanding the role and the weaknesses of every card in your deck will greatly help you.
5.Look to win Elixir Trade offs and don’t focus too much on just attacking.
6.Last of all, like I always say, Have fun, share and comment away!

There Is a Lack of Safety Research Regarding the Use of VR, Who's to Blame?

The virtual reality industry registered an impressive growth this year and we can be sure that it will probably keep this trend on the following years. As more and more VR headsets become available on the  market, I think we are entitled to ask ourselfs if these devices are safe for us or not. Apparently, the companies involved in the VR industry are "treating safety as an afterthought rather than addressing it proactively." Those who are using VR devices or intend to buy and use such devices don't have too much information regarding the effects that the VR content might cause to their brain or body. A study made by UCLA (University of California Los Angeles) back in 2014 revealed that "space-mapping neurons in the brain react differently to virtual reality than they do to real-world environments." According to Mayank Mehta, professor of physics at UCLA : "The pattern of activity in a brain region involved in spatial learning in the virtual world is completely different than when it processes activity in the real world."

A recent article about the safe use of VR by children was published on Live Science, and Marietina Gostis,
director of Creative Media & Behavioral Health Center at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, mentions the following: “We do not have enough data on the safety  of current VR technology for children, so the sparsity of research data and what we know about neuroplasticity [the brain’s ability to reorganize itself] and children does not make me comfortable to recommend what is available now as is.” The fact that VR can help in the case of phobias, mental illnesses like depression, and even as sex therapy is something that you may encounter in news bulletins.

VR Bound published some guidelines for parents in which they are advised to rely on their common sense and maternal instincts when it comes to let the children use this immersive technology. While hundreds of thousands of VR headsets will be brought into homes all around the world, we are facing a lack of information regarding the possible side effects of prolonged use of VR devices. The VR's industry attitude regarding possible repercussions caused by this is a passive one. Despite the attitude of the big players  from this industry, the question stands: "Shouldn’t users of VR have the right to make an informed decision?"

Revelation Online Revealed New Class Assassin

Revelation Online developer NetEase has announced a new major update which will release it in China first in December 2016. The most important new feature of this update is the new class Assassin.

Assassin in Revelation wields dual daggers, just like the class in other MMOs. What's interesting about this class is his daggers are attached with chains which allow Assassin attacks enemies in close and middle range. Besides, according to the developer, Assassin is the only class that can go stealth in the game.

Another new feature that's worth your attention is class change, which allows players to transform a current class to another one they want to play. This feature is for those who don't want to start a new class from level 1. Currently we are not sure if this feature is for Chinese version only.

NetEase also announces future plans including introducing in guild territories, guild houses, and massive PvP content that involves point capture and escort.

We also hear rumor saying that the western open beta will start before the end of 2016.
