ArcheAge Beginner's Guide, Earning Gold With Trade Runs

$
0
0
One of the main of objectives of MMO players, regardless of the genre, is to amass enough of the game’s currency to be able to afford anything available for purchase. This is even more so for a game like ArcheAge, where everything from potatoes to the services of other players can be bought with Gold.

This article will guide you on how to make the most out of the Commerce proficiency of ArcheAge, more specifically trade runs, and earn large amount of Gold everyday. Note that this guide will focus on specialty trade packs created on the Eastern continent of Haranya.

Trade packs and trade are accessible to players starting from level 30. This craft will delight all those who wish to live as merchants, taking specialties from one region to another for highest possible profit. If your idea of “winning” in ArcheAge is finishing your days in one of your numerous secondary residences with the best decors and items, you will have to get started with trade runs or another.

The best part is that you do not need the Patron status to do trade runs, and can get started as soon as you reach the required level.

If you already know about the trade runs mechanics and the quest to get your donkey, simply skip to the Trade Routes part of this article for the best trade packs.

Basics

The are two distinct parts to a trade run:

The first is to create a trade pack. The can be standard or advanced specialty packs created at the regions workbench (screenshot below), or aged packs that you will create on your farm, among others.

This second will require you (or someone else) traveling and taking the trade pack to other regions for Gold (on the same continent) or resources and Gilda Stars (on other continents).

If you are still new to the game and trade runs, you might want to focus on doing Gold trade runs on your own continent as these take less time and greatly reduce the risks of getting attacked.

Getting started

Upon reaching level 30, you will unlock a quest in Tigerspine that will introduce you to trade runs and even give you a donkey to make your travels easier (and later along the questline reward you with a 16x16 scarecrow farm).

This quest will require you to make a Tigerspine Tigerspaw Pancakes, created with ground grains and milk, and deliver it to Mahadevi.

Once that is done and you get your first donkey, it’ll be time to start considering trade routes.

Trade routes

At the moment, there are 3 main trade packs that you will want to run to maximize your profits in the least amount of time.

Falcorth Plains Trade Packs

Route - Falcorth Plains to Villanelle

This is by far one of the easiest trade runs in ArcheAge. While Falcorth Plains are Villanelle are technically 3 regions away from each other, the airship allows you to get to your destination in more or less 10 minutes by crossing mountains. You receive nearly 10 Gold per pack, which means about 60 Gold per hour.

Route - Falcorth Plains to Rookborne Basin

While this run takes more time than the Villanelle run and can only be run safely during Peace time in Rookborne, it give an additional 2 gold per pack. It is also a good alternative in case a lot of people are running the Falcorth Plains to Villanelle packs and bringing its value down.

Route - Falcorth Plains to Ynystere

Just like the Falcorth to Rookborne, this pack can only be run during Peace time, and takes more or less 25mins to run with a donkey.

I would not exactly recommend doing this one the traditional way, aka make a pack and deliver it right away. Instead, get some land in either Silent Forest (which is the best option), or Villanelle (as an alternative), and store as many Falcorth packs as you can there. Once Ynystere is in Peace time, simply deliver the packs with your donkey, or cart/wagon if you have one.

You will receive 14-16 Gold per pack, making this one of he highest paying runs for Falcorth packs.

Rookborne Basin Trade Packs

Route Rookborne Basin to Falcorth Plains

This one has a little trick to it. While most would expect the airship to be the fastest way to complete this one, you can actually climb over the mountains using backdrop in the area around the specialty workbench.

The following video should explain this better:

Rokhala Mountains Trade Packs

Route - Rokhala Mountains to Solis Headlands

And finally, here come the highest paying trade run on the whole Haranya continent. While it does take a lot of time to get to Solis from Rokhala, Advanced packs give 24 Gold, while Standard packs give 22 Gold.

I would recommend using the same tactic as with Ynystere runs. Take the packs one at a time to Falcorth, where you will hopefully have land to store them on. Once you have enough there, take them to Solis with your cart or wagon (donkey not recommended), and earn 66 Gold to 72 Gold per run.

Exclusive Interview With Justice’s Developer

$

Announced in 2015, Justice integrates the most romantic oriental gene into what players hear and see and all their martial art moves, hoping to become the most anticipated poetic world for them. In NetEase Games Festival 2016, 2P and 17173.com had a chance to sit down with Zhipeng Hu, the developer of Justice, and talked about the next flagship title.

Quick Look
- Players can easily switch between 2.5D and 3D.
-7 Classes is under development; Su Wen (素问) is a female supporter class.
-There will be 2 factions in the game. Players can expect some unique settings.
- PVE will focus on Boss combat.
-There is no safe place in the game, which means players can enjoy PVP in cities.

Why do you choose 2.5D view to develop the game?
I need to clarify that the game is developed with 3D view. Qinggong, the most important skill for any Martial Arts MMO, cannot be fully displayed in 2.5D. But the bird’s-eye view will be easier for players to use in combats since it provides better views. Overall it’s a 3D world.

Of course, players can freely switch between 2.5D and 3D in combats. We’re still working on the optimization.

Can you tell us the general development plan?
We just finished the first internal test. In the past 3 years, we’ve attempted to add new experiences to game. And now we’re focusing on making contents to enrich the game. It’s already at late stage of development.

What makes it different from other PC MMOs?
Nowadays, players are more particular about PC MMOs, they want better graphics, more immersive storyline and so on. In order to make players get immersed in the poetic world, we design a lot of plots that appears in single-player game. All NPCs in the game will have their own stories and characteristics. Players need to discovery these stories by themselves and build connection with these NPCs. By doing this, we hope players will be able to enjoy the vivid chivalric world.

How will these NPCs interact with players?
We have an unique system and put a lot of efforts into AI. We’ll develop corresponding gameplay for different interactions.

How about the plot settings?
Set in the Northern Song (960-1127), one of the most influential periods in Chinese history with a prosperous economy and radiant culture, the game will restore a lot of sceneries and culture during the period. We prepare many hidden surprises for players to find.

How about the classes? Are there any differences between existing MMOs?
First of all, it won’t be something like Wudang and Shaolin. All the 7 classes will have plenty of skill combos that can be used for different situation. The combat are optimized a lot. Players will be able to enjoy both targeting and non-targeting combat system. Our goal is to make the game easy to play but hard to master.

Suwen is a female healer. Different from other MMOs, we choose ribbon as her weapon. As for other classes, we’ll make sure everyone will feel needed. Skill combos will play an important role in the game.

How about PVE and PVP?
PVE matters a lot in expressing the poetic world. And it’s mainly focus on boss battle. According to the internal test, we think PVP is fun to play. We’re going to add more contents in the near future. For example, there will be no safety zone, so players can fight with each other in the main city.

Will there will be some life skills?
Yeah, sure. Players may be able to run their own business. They can have their own restaurant, forestry...  All of these may lead to the conflict of interest... This is Jianghu, full of cooperation and competition.

Can you tell us something about factions?
There will be 2 factions in the game. But it will be something different from the traditional MMOs.

Only when conflict of interest happens, will the players' name turn red and become opposite side. Most of the time, the two factions can live in peace and fight against tax officer together.

Dawn of Titans Review - A Beautiful Strategic Game of War

$
0
0

Dawn of Titans is made by NaturalMotion and it took them quite a long time but this beautiful game is finally here! This game turned out to be a technically proficient, gorgeous piece of mobile gaming craftsmanship. The graphics are an achievement that shows just how far this particular genre has come in just a few years and what a big progress mobile game development has made.

It's hard not to be impressed as you zoom in and out on your floating island kingdom or check out the titular Titans, huge beings that tower above the poor cannon fodder troops. Even when they’re not in battle, the Titans move like they're alive. You would love to put them to the test as often as possible, and the game gives you a lot of ways to do that. As expected, much of the gameplay is devoted to forming alliances with other players and deciding which other alliances to attack in order to grow in power, as any usual strategic war game. Both neutral and enemy lands can be raided for resources or captured and added to your own holdings. And since the lands are smaller, floating islands that appear get to be a part of your main plot. Because of that, it’s simple to see which other players and alliances are powerful.

Gameplay

That same intuitive nature extends to the foundation of multiplayer competition. Alliance play is divided up into week-long seasons based on the amount of victory points each group collects in a week. While you get more points for raiding human opponents, you can also score some by attacking neutral territories or even holding onto certain kinds of lands, meaning everyone in an alliance can contribute. A system of promotion lets you know if your clan is moving in the right direction.

Or maybe if you're not a multiplayer fan, then you’ll be pleased to learn that Dawn of Titans includes an extensive single-player campaign as well. There’s some nice variety in the content , including escort missions and having to outmaneuver enemies to get to specific locations. It’s not all just "destroy the opposing army" every time out, which gives more versatility and depth to the game. Also an argument can be made that the solo battles are more interesting than  the PvP clashes. Raiding enemy lands quickly gets very samey, even with the options you have to bring different kinds of troops to the battlefield and use relics to customize your Titans. It's true that you can direct your troops with a level of control not previously seen in games of this type, but the action happens so quickly that you’ll rarely get to issue more than one or two commands.

You'll also quickly realize that the AI opponents get to do almost all the cool tricks, like setting up ambushes or attacking from different directions and the battlefields seem to be too small compared to the number of units on them. There just isn't space for the kind of movement that would really prove you have an actual strategy. The face-offs between huge armies with seven different unit types and multiple Titans per side are a a very cool mechanic, though it's obviously not something players will find in Dawn of Titans until they've spent a lot of time playing.

Overall the game is pretty and it does give you a new feel to this genre of games. I really like the idea of it but the execution could've been something more. Sadly for me it's just more of a pretty package rather than something revolutinary or "next-level" but it does deserve some time to be put in it and you should definitely check it out if you're into these kind of games.Although for the amount of time that was put into this game I've expected more . Maybe it's just my opinion because I'm not into strategic war games and I would like to hear your opinions too in the comments.

Pros:
  • Beautiful and detailed graphics ;
  • Smooth gameplay ;
  • Great idea and war mechanics ;
Cons:
  • Some game mechanics can be pushed even further for better experience ;
  • Not as "dynamic" and cool as people can think it is ;
  • Takes a long time until you feel that the time you've put into this game is worth

Conan Exiles Explains the Visceral, Brutal yet Tactical Combat

$
0
0

Upcoming survival MORPG Conan Exiles will offer you a visceral and brutal combat like other Conan games do. In Conan Exiles, simply flail around and attack in rapid succession won't increase your chance to survive when facing tough enemies.

According to Funcom, "it is instead wise to fight with measured swings or thrusts at opportune moments." You can dodge by rolling to the sides or going backward, and you can block enemy attack, waiting for the opportunity to deliver a deadly blow — remember that Conan Exiles is a survival game, not hack and slash RPG.

All main-hand and two-handed weapons have a quick light attack and a slower heavy attack. The trick is to know when to use which and what you stand to gain. Attempting a powerful heavy attack could leave you vulnerable for a short time, but it might be the blow which smashes your enemy’s shield, robbing him of a crucial defensive tool for the difficult fight ahead.

Another important thing is learning which weapon to use against different foes. If you plan on charging into a camp of Darfari cannibals and hunt for thralls, it will be very useful to have a shield which can block their ranged weapons as you approach. Longer weapons like the pike can be effective when trying to keep your distance from the deadly jaws of a crocodile.

Conan Exiles will start early access on January 31, 2017. You can read the full article at the official site.
